Structure
The shift pressure regulating solenoid valve (Y3/6y2) has an interference fit and is sealed off to the valve body
of the shift plate (2a) by a seal (arrow). See Fig. 175
.
The contact springs (32) on the shift pressure solenoid valve (Y3/6y2) engage in a slot in the conductor tracks
(33). The force of the contact sp ring (32) ensures safe contacts.

Operation
The shift pressure (p-S) is determines by the shift pressure regulating solenoid valve (Y3/6y2) and the shift
pressure regulating valve (24). See Fig. 177. In addition, pressure from the multiple-disc clutch K2 (p-K2) is
also present at the annular surface (24a) of the shift pressure regulating valve (24). This reduces the shift
pressure in 2nd gear.

Operation
The RPM sensors are pressed against the transmission housing (51) by a spring (49) which is held against the
valve housing of the shift plate (2a). See .Fig. 179
This ensures a defined distance between the RPM sensors
and the exciter ring (50). RPM sensor 2 (Y3/6yn2) records the speed of the front planetary gear carrier via the
inner multiple-disc carrier of the front multiple-disc clutch (K1c).

Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and eye

protection. Pour battery electrolyte only into

suitable and appropriately marked containers.

Turn ignition key to position "0"

to avoid fault codes.

Disconnect ground cable (1) from battery


To prevent unintended contact, insulate

the ground lead cable lug.

Remove protective shield at positive pole of

battery and remove all lines attached to

positive cable (2)

Disconnect positive cable (2) from the battery

(G1).

Remove seal (3) at shield (4)

Unscrew bolt for securing generator line to

shield

Slacken retaining clip at side of shield (4),

guide all lines through shield and lay to one

side

Detach coolant circulation pump (M13) from

shield

As of VIN A145273, X708319.

Remove cable strap at lines at side of shield

Detach overflow hose (8) and control cable

(9) at shield

Detach locking bracket of suction fan (10) at

the front from the shield and remove line from

shield

Only if fitted.

Unscrew bolt (11) at shield

Remove clamping wedge (12) at retaining

bracket

Detach retaining bracket (13) by pressing

downwards

Detach and remove shield (4)

Rotate the shield forwards and move back

in order to loosen the front retaining lugs.

Remove battery (G1).

Dispose of battery

If battery is defective.
