Switching air-recirculation mode on/o"M
Multimedia system:

First Row of Seats
Press r in the upper display area of the
climate bar.
The interior air will be recirculated.
Air-recirculation mode will automatically switch to
fresh air mode a"ser a while.
\bIf air-recirculation mode is switched on, the
windows may fog up more quickly. Switch on
air-recirculation mode only brie"Oy.
Switching residual heat mode on/o"M via the cli-
mate bar
Requirements
= The residual heat function is available.
= The vehicle is parked.
= The coolant temperature is su"Pciently high.
It is possible to make use of the residual heat from the engine to continue heating or ventilating
the front compartment of the vehicle for approx-
imately 30 minutes, depending on the tempera-
ture set.To switch on or o"M: select Residual Heat on
the climate bar of the central display.
The residual heat function will automatically
switch o"M a"ser some time.
\bIf residual engine heat utilization is activated,
the two buttons for setting the temperature
and air distribution will automatically be deac-
tivated.
Switching residual heat on/o"M via the rear operat-
ing unit
Requirements
= The residual heat function is available.
= The vehicle is parked.
= The coolant temperature is su"Pciently high.
When the residual heat of the engine is activated in the rear passenger compartment, you can heat or ventilate the front and rear compartments for
approximately 15 minutes.
Press button K.Activating/deactivating ionization
Multimedia system:

Air Quality
When ionization is activated, the interior air is
enriched with negatively charged oxygen ions.
This can promote the well-being of the vehicle
occupants.
Select Ionization .\bThe function can be performed only if AUTO
mode is activated or the air distribution is set
to the side air vent. The function is restricted
if the side air vents on the driver\bs side are
closed.
Fragrance system
q Activating/deactivating the fragrance system
using the multimedia system
Requirements
= Automatic climate control is activated.
= The glove box will close.
= A "Oacon is inserted.

The fragrance system distributes a pleasant fra-
grance throughout the vehicle interior from a "Oa-
con located in the glove box.Navigate down until the climate control bar is
active.Select Fragrance .Activate or deactivate fragrancing.
qSetting the fragrance system using the multi-
media system
Requirements
= A "Oacon is inserted.
= The glove box will close.
= Climate control is activated.

Air Quality
The fragrance system distributes a pleasant fra-
grance throughout the vehicle interior from a "Oa-
con located in the glove box.
Select Fragrance .Keep pressing until the desired intensity is
reached.
q Inserting or removing the "Oacon of the fra-
grance system
&WARNING Risk of injury from liquid per-
fume
If children open the "Oacon, they could drink
the liquid perfume or it could come into con-
tact with their eyes.
Do not leave children unattended in the
vehicle.Consult a doctor immediately if liquid
perfume has been drunk.If liquid perfume comes into contact with
your eyes or skin, rinse your eyes with
clean water.If symptoms continue, consult a doctor.+ENVIRONMENTAL NOTE Environmental
damage due to improper disposal of full

Full "Oacons must not be disposed of
with household waste.

as it will go.To remove: a"ser opening the glove compart-
ment, wait for approximately seven seconds
and pull out the "Oacon.If you do not use genuine Mercedes-Benz interior
perfumes, observe the manufacturer\bs safety noti-
ces on the perfume packaging.
Dispose of the genuine Mercedes-Benz interior
perfume "Oacon when it is empty and do not re"Nll
it.
Re"Nllable "OaconUnscrew the cap of the empty "Oacon.Fill the "Oacon with a maximum of 0.5 "O. oz.
(15 ml).Screw the cap back onto the "Oacon.
Always re"Nll the empty re"Nllable "Oacon with the
same perfume. Observe the separate information
sheet with the "Oacon.
Information on the windshield heater
&WARNING Risk of burns from touching the
windshield when the windshield heater is switched on
The windshield can become very hot when the
windshield heater is switched on.
The health of persons with limited temperature
sensitivity or a limited ability to react to high
temperatures may be a"Mected or they may
even su"Mer burn-like injuries.Do not touch the windshield while the
windshield heater is switched on.Allow the windshield to cool down before
touching it.
The windshield heater will be enabled automati- cally if d is activated on the climate bar on the
central display.
A"ser the vehicle is started, the windshield heater
will be switched on automatically as required.
Pre-entry climate control when the vehicle is unlocked
q Function of pre-entry climate control when the
vehicle is unlocked
The seats can be brie"Oy pre-warmed or pre-
cooled before you get into the vehicle.

Depending on the vehicle\bs equipment, the follow-
ing functions will be activated as needed during
pre-cooling:
= Automatic climate control
= Blower
= Seat ventilation
Depending on the vehicle\bs equipment, the follow- ing functions will be activated as needed during
pre-warming:
= Automatic climate control
= Blower
= Seat heating
= Steering wheel heating
= Panel heating
= Mirror heater
= Rear window defroster
= Windshield heaterDepending on the vehicle\bs equipment, the follow-
ing functions will also be adjusted during pre-
entry climate control if they have already been
switched on during regular vehicle operation:
= Fragrancing
= Ionization

Pre-entry Climate Ctrl.Activate or deactivate the function.
Selecting seats
Select Driver, Passenger , Rear Left or Rear
Right .
The seat-speci"Nc functions of pre-entry cli-
mate control, such as seat heating, will be per-
formed for the selected seats.
If pre-entry climate control is enabled, an LED on
the climate bar of the central display will light up
blue for a cooled vehicle and red for a heated vehicle.
q Activating/deactivating pre-entry climate con-
trol when the vehicle is unlocked
Requirements
= The high-voltage battery is charged su"P-
ciently.
= The function has been activated via the multi-
media system.To switch on: unlock the vehicle.
The climate control functions are activated for up to "Nve minutes for pre-heating and pre-
cooling.
Pre-entry climate control when the vehicle is
unlocked cannot be activated more than twice
when the vehicle is switched o"M.
To switch o"M: press ; on the climate bar
on the central display.
Depending on the vehicle equipment, the follow- ing functions will remain active once the vehicle
has been started:
= Seat heating
= Seat ventilation
= Panel heating

Pre-entry climate control for departure time
qPre-entry climate control for departure time
function
&WARNING Risk of fatal injury due to expo-
sure to extreme heat or cold in the vehicle
If persons, particularly children, are subjected
to prolonged exposure to intense heat or cold,
there is a risk of severe injury or even death.
Never leave persons, particularly chil-
dren, unattended in the vehicle.&WARNING Risk of burns due to repeatedly
switching on the seat heating
Repeatedly switching on the seat heating can
cause the seat cushion and seat backrest pad-
ding to become very hot.
In particular, the health of persons with limited
temperature sensitivity or a limited ability to
react to high temperatures may be a"Mected or
they may even su"Mer burn-like injuries.Do not repeatedly switch on the seat
heating.To protect against overheating, the seat heating
may be temporarily deactivated a"ser it has been
switched on repeatedly.\bThis function is available only for Mercedes-
AMG vehicles, plug-in hybrids or vehicles with a 48-V on-board electrical system.
The air inside the vehicle can be heated, ventila-ted or cooled to the set temperature when the
vehicle is parked.
Plug-in hybrid: When the vehicle is connected to power supply equipment, priority will be given to
charging the high-voltage battery to a speci"Ned
minimum charge.
The running time of pre-entry climate control may be reduced in the following circumstances:
= Plug-in hybrid: The vehicle is not connected to
power supply equipment.
= The high-voltage battery or the 48 V battery is
not fully charged.
Plug-in hybrid: With active pre-entry climate con-
trol, the charge level of the high-voltage battery
may be reduced, even if the charging cable con-
nector is connected.
If present, seat ventilation will be activated in
cooling and ventilation modes.
Depending on the vehicle\bs equipment, the follow-
ing functions will be activated in heating mode, if
available:
= Seat heating
= Steering wheel heating
= Panel heating
= Mirror heater
= Rear window defroster
= Windshield heater
When the set temperature is changed, climate
control mode will automatically be updated and
switched from heating mode to ventilation or cool- ing mode, from cooling mode to ventilation orClimate control193

heating mode or from ventilation mode to heatingor cooling mode.
q Setting pre-entry climate control for departure
time via the climate bar

Pre-entry Climate Ctrl.
Setting the departure time\bPlug-in hybrid: set departure times are used
for the vehicle\bs pre-entry climate control and for predictions regarding the approximate
state of charge and range at the time selec- ted. Additional information on the charging
settings (  page 369).Select Edit Departure Time W .Select a departure time or set a new depar-
ture time.
Setting the repeat days
Select Edit Departure Time W .Set the desired departure time and select the
corresponding weekdays on which this depar-
ture time is to apply.Press OK to con"Nrm.Selecting seatsSelect Driver, Passenger , Rear Left or Rear
Right .
Pre-entry climate control will take place for
the selected seats.
If a departure time is set, a yellow LED will appear
on the climate bar of the central display. In addi- tion, an LED on the climate bar will indicate whenpre-entry climate control is activated. It will light
up blue when the vehicle is being cooled and red when it is being heated.
q Activating/deactivating pre-entry climate con-
trol for departure time
Requirements
= The high-voltage battery or the 48 V battery is
charged su"Pciently.
= The function has been activated via the multi-
media system.
To activate: set the departure time
(  page 194).
Vehicles with 48 V on-board electrical system:
Pre-entry climate control for departure timewill switch on a maximum of 5 minutes before
the selected departure time.
Plug-in hybrid: Pre-entry climate control for
departure time will switch on a maximum of
55 minutes before the selected departure
time. It will remain active for another "Nve
minutes if departure is delayed.To deactivate the pre-entry climate control for
departure time early: press ; on the cli-
mate bar on the central display or switch o"M
the preselection of the time in the climate
menu.
If present, the following functions will remain
active once the vehicle has been started:
= Seat heating
= Seat ventilation
= Panel heating
Depending on the vehicle\bs equipment, the follow-
ing functions will also be adjusted during pre-
entry climate control if they have already been
switched on during regular vehicle operation:
= Fragrancing
= Ionization

The vehicle interior can continue to be air-condi-
tioned, e.g. during a break in driving, for up to 50
minutes for plug-in hybrids and up to 5 minutes
for vehicles with a 48 V on-board electrical sys- tem.
Press ; on the climate bar on the central
display.
The red or blue indicator lamp below ; on
the climate bar on the central display will light
up or go out.Set the temperature using the ~ and }
arrows on the climate bar on the central dis-
play.The colors of the indicator lamp have the following meanings:
= Blue: ventilation or cooling mode is switched
on.
= Red: heating mode is switched on.
= Yellow: the departure time is preselected.
Air vents
qAdjusting the front air vents
&WARNING Risk of burns or frostbite due to
being too close to the air vents
Very hot or very cold air can "Oow from the air
vents.
Make sure that all vehicle occupants always maintain a su"Pcient distance
from the air vents.If necessary, direct the air"Oow to another
area of the vehicle interior.Climate control195

To guarantee the "Oow of fresh air through the air
vents into the vehicle interior, note the following:
= Always keep the vents and ventilation grilles in
the vehicle interior clear.
= Keep the air inlet grille free of residue build-up
(  page 410).To open the center and side air vents: press
button 1.
The three indicator lamps on the button will
light up. The air vents will be opened com-
pletely.To close the center and side air vents: press
button 1 again.
The three indicator lamps on the button will go
out one by one. The air vents will be closed
completely.To adjust the air"Oow direction of the side air
vents: hold the center of outer side air
vent 2 and move it up or down or to the le"s
or right.To adjust the air"Oow direction of the center
air vent: hold the center of air vent 3 and
move it up or down or to the le"s or right.
qAdjusting the rear air vents
&WARNING Risk of burns or frostbite due to
being too close to the air vents
Very hot or very cold air can "Oow from the air
vents.
Make sure that all vehicle occupants always maintain a su"Pcient distance
from the air vents.If necessary, direct the air"Oow to another
area of the vehicle interior.To open the rear air vents in the center con-

To close the rear air vents in the center con-
sole: press button 1 again.
The three indicator lamps on the button will go
out one by one. The air vents will be closed
completely.To adjust the air"Oow direction of the rear air
vents in the center console: hold the center of
air vent 2 and move it up or down or to the
le"s or right.To open the side air vents in the rear
passenger compartment : press button 1.
If the button is "Oush with the side trim, the
side air vent is open.To close the side air vents in the rear
passenger compartment: press button 1
again.
If the button protrudes from the side trim, the
side air vent is closed.To adjust the air"Oow direction of the side air
vents in the rear passenger compartment:
hold the center of air vent 2 and move it up
or down or to the le"s or right.
qOpening or closing the air vent in the glove box
*NOTE Damage to temperature-sensitive
objects in the glove box
Temperature-sensitive objects stored in the
glove box may be damaged by the air vent located inside it.
Close the air vent when you heat thevehicle.At high outside temperatures, open the
air vent and switch on the A/C function.
The automatic climate control must be switched
on to cool the glove box.
