\bYou can switch the Interior Assistant front and
rear camera on and o"M using Front and Rear .
The selected camera settings (on/o"M) are not
saved in the user pro"Nle and only apply to the
current vehicle. If you change to another vehi-
cle with the MBUX Interior Assistant, please
check the settings and adjust them if neces-
sary.
The MBUX Interior Assistant is equipped with front and rear cameras.
\bAlternatively, a con"Nguration with front cam-
era only is also available.
The front camera consists of two cameras that support the driver and the front passenger.
The rear camera consists of two cameras thatsupport the le"s and right rear seat passengers.
The MBUX Interior Assistant records the vehicle
occupants via 3D laser cameras. The cameras of
the front camera are located in the overhead con- trol panel. The cameras of the rear camera are
located in the roof bows.
The Assistant detects interactions of the vehicle
occupants via the cameras. It interprets the natu-
ral hand, head and body movements of the vehi-
cle occupants either in context or at their explicit request. The Assistant can thus automatically trig-
ger vehicle interior functions and assist appropri-
ately to the situation.1Arrangement of the cameras of the front cam- era in the overhead control panel1Arrangement of the rear camera in the roofbows
The Assistant supports vehicle and infotainment
functions at three interaction levels:
= INTELLIGENT
The Assistant recognizes vehicle occupants
automatically and activates functions.
= REACTIVE
The Assistant recognizes the natural body lan-
guage of a vehicle occupant and carries out
functions automatically, appropriate to the sit- uation.
= CONTACTLESS

the use of restraint systems.
= COMFORT
The Assistant enhances comfort by automat-
ing functions inside the vehicle and supporting natural interaction with the vehicle.
= INFOTAINMENT

Automatic preselection of the outside mirrors(COMFORT/reactive)
Requirements
= The front camera is switched on.
Until now, to set the outside mirrors the desired
mirror had to be selected using a preselection button in the driver\bs door.
With the MBUX Interior Assistant, the mirror to be set is preselected automatically by the naturalmovement of your head to the le"s or right. When
the hand touches the button for adjusting the out- side mirror, the LED under the button of the pre-
selected mirror side lights up.
Use the button to set the position of the active outside mirror.
\bPreselection of the outside mirrors using but-
tons is still possible. Further information on
adjusting the outside mirrors ( page 180).\bThe driver camera is also used for this appli-
cation.Calling up favorites with the V pose (INFOTAIN-MENT/contactless)
Requirements
= The front camera is switched on.
= At least one favorite has been saved in the
favorites list.
= The favorite is connected with the MBUX Inte-
rior Assistant .
= The area for detecting the favorites pose (V
pose) is above the center console in front of the central display.
= The V pose is held for a brief time.
The V pose makes it easier to call up favorites.
The front vehicle occupants can associate their
own favorite with the V-pose. Some examples
include a navigation destination, a radio station or
a massage program for a seat.
\bIf a favorite has not yet been saved and con-

Function of the driver camera
The driver camera is on the driver display or in the 3D driver display.
The driver camera detects the following character- istics:
= Head position
= Viewing direction
= Eyelid closure characteristics
= Driver\bs face
\bThe driver camera is automatically activated
each time the vehicle is opened with the
SmartKey.
The current status of the è driver camera
is shown in the status line of the central dis-
play.\bThe driver camera records image data for
applications such as ATTENTION ASSIST and facial recognition, for example. The camera converts the image data directly
into meta data. No image data is saved in the
process. The data is only processed in the
vehicle and is not transmitted from the vehi- cle.
The driver camera must be set up for face detec-
tion before use. Teaching-in biometric data ( page 357).
System limits
The system may be impaired or may not function in the following situations:
= The camera is covered or dirty, fogged up or

to a scarf or hat being worn.
- The driver is wearing glasses that block
infrared.
- If hair partially obstructs the eyes, e.g. as

&WARNING Risk of becoming trapped dur-
ing adjustment of the driver\bs seat a"ser
calling up a driver pro"Nle
Selecting a user pro"Nle may trigger an adjust-
ment of the driver\bs seat to the position saved
under the user pro"Nle. You or other vehicle
occupants could be injured in the process.
Make sure that when the position of driv-
er\bs seat is being adjusted using the mul-
timedia system, no people or body parts
are in the seat\bs range of movement. If there is a risk of someone becoming trap-
ped, immediately stop the adjustment process
by:a) Pressing the warning message on the
central display.
or
b) Pressing a position button of the memory function or a seat adjustment
switch in the driver\bs door.
The adjustment process is stopped.
The driver\bs seat is equipped with an anti-entrap-
ment feature.
If the driver\bs door is open, the driver\bs seat will
not be set a"ser calling up the driver\bs pro"Nle.
User pro"Nles and user-speci"Nc content
Prerequisites for the vehicle owner:
= You have a Mercedes me user account.
= You have a Mercedes me PIN.
= You have agreed to the terms of use.
= The vehicle is linked to a Mercedes me user
account.
MBUX multimedia system355

\bIf one of the requirements listed is missing orif no user pro"Nle has been selected, the data
described in the following section will be
saved in the vehicle as the standard setting.
Standard settings can be changed by all vehi- cle users.
User pro"Nles save personal settings. If the vehicle
is used by several people, a person can change
their pro"Nle settings without changing the settings
of other users.
If the vehicle is equipped with the MBUX high-end
Rear Seat Entertainment System, the occupants
in the rear passenger compartment can log in as Mercedes me users from their seats. The Multi-
seat Pro"Nle Management allows three pro"Nles to
be used simultaneously. A user pro"Nle can only be
activated simultaneously on one display.
\bSome settings apply to the entire vehicle and
are displayed in all user pro"Nles, e.g. ambient
lighting and the current navigation settings.
These initially belong to the driver, but can
also be changed by the other vehicle occu-
pants in their user pro"Nle.You can individualize a user pro"Nle in the vehicle
using the set-up assistant or using the settings in your user pro"Nle. Some settings, e.g. the
Mercedes me PIN and a pro"Nle photo are made in
the Mercedes me App or in the Mercedes me Por- tal.
User-speci"Nc content and applications with per-
sonal data are protected by di"Merent levels of
security. To access protected content, the Mercedes me PIN and, depending on the vehicle equipment, biometric sensors can be used.\bThe security level is set by the multimedia sys- tem and calculated from the combination of
all sensor inputs. Some security levels cannot
be turned o"M.\bWhen a user pro"Nle is activated, the following
personalized comfort systems, for example, can be adjusted or their settings loaded:
= Seat
= Ambient light
= Outside mirrors
= Blinds
= Climate control settingsIf the user pro"Nle is activated when driving,
the driver\bs seat position will not be adjusted.
Depending on the vehicle equipment you can, as
a user, save the following settings, for example:
= Driver\bs seat, steering wheel and mirror set-
tings
= Climate control
= Ambient lighting
= Radio (including station list)
= Suggestions and favorites
Suggestions
The vehicle can learn the habits of the driver. It then makes suggestions regarding navigation des-
tinations, phone numbers and music preferences. The requirements for that are the selection of auser, your consent to the recording of data and
su"Pcient collected data.
Favorites
Favorites o"Mer you quick access to frequently
used applications. 100 favorites are available in
total.

equipment, biometric sensors are available for access. Biometric sensors in the vehicle must be
taught in. The authentication process then takes
all taught-in and available sensors into account.

tions are protected, for example:
= User selection and user pro"Nle settings
= Biometric sensors
The teaching-in of biometric sensors is protec- ted.
