Operator\bs Manual
This Operator\bs Manual and the Digital Operator\bs
Manual in the vehicle describe the following mod-
els and the standard and special equipment for
your vehicle:
= The models and the standard and special
equipment available at the time of this Opera- tor\bs Manual going to press.
= The models and the standard and special
equipment only available in certain countries.
= The models and the standard and special
equipment, which will only be available at a
later date.
Note that your vehicle may not have all features
described. This is also the case for systems rele- vant to safety. Therefore, the equipment on your
vehicle may di"Mer from that in the descriptions
and illustrations.
The original purchase agreement for your vehicle contains a list of the equipment in your vehicle atthe time of delivery.Should you have any questions concerning equip-
ment and operation, please consult an authorized
Mercedes-Benz Center.\bPlease bear in mind that all the speed values
stated in this Operator\bs Manual are approxi-
mate and are subject to a certain tolerance.
The Operator\bs Manual, Supplement, further sup- plementary documents and Maintenance Booklet
are important documents and should be kept in the vehicle.
Touch-sensitive controls
In addition to conventional switches and buttons,
your vehicle is equipped with touch-sensitive con- trols.
These are located in the following areas of your
vehicle:
= Roof and door control panel
= Climate control
= Steering wheel
= MBUX multimedia system
The controls have touch-sensitive user interface
surfaces. You can control these surfaces by
pressing or swiping to adjust settings or to trigger
functions, for example.
In the area of the touchscreen, you will also receive haptic feedback in the form of a pulse or avibration, or the surface structure will change on
the touch-sensitive user interface surface, for
example.
You will receive haptic feedback in the following situations, for example:
= When pressing a button on the user interface
surface
= When scrolling in a list or table
= When reaching a new area on the user inter-
face surface, e.g. a pop-up window
When handling touch-sensitive user interface sur- faces, observe the following points to avoid prob-
lems operating them:
= Do not a"Px stickers or similar objects to the
surfaces
= Keep the surfaces protected from moistureGeneral notes29

=Keep the surfaces free of dust and dirt
(  page 415).
Some touch-sensitive controls have a symbol and integrated indicator lamps. When operating, make
sure to press on the symbol of the control.

Notes about the on-demand feature
You can also activate various functions (on-
demand feature) subsequently via Mercedes me
a"ser purchasing your vehicle.
Information is available at any authorized
Mercedes-Benz Service Center.
Activating on-demand feature using Mercedes me
Requirements
= The vehicle has a wireless connection.
= The vehicle is linked to the Mercedes me user
account.
Ordering and activating on-demand featureAdd the desired on-demand feature for the
vehicle to the shopping basket in the
Mercedes me Store.Complete the order. The on-demand feature is activated when
operating the vehicle.
Speeding up activation
Switch the vehicle o"M and lock it.Unlock the vehicle a"ser about two minutes
and switch on the vehicle.
The on-demand feature has been activated.
For some features, a noti"Ncation also appears
in the vehicle\bs multimedia system.
If the activation was not successful, repeat the
process.
Service and vehicle operation
Vehicle operation outside the USA or Canada
When you are abroad with your vehicle, observe the following points:
= service points or replacement parts may not
be available immediately.
= unleaded fuel may not be available for vehicles
with a catalytic converter. Leaded fuel may cause damage to the catalytic converter.
= the fuel may have an extremely low octane
number. Unsuitable fuel can cause engine
damage.

Service and Guarantee booklet or simply call the Mercedes-Benz Customer Assistance Center(USA) on the hotline number

tomer Service (Canada) on 1-800-387-0100. We
can then reach you in a timely fashion, if neces-
sary.
If you sell your Mercedes, please leave all litera- ture in the vehicle so that it is available to the next
owner. If you have purchased a used vehicle, please send us the "Notice of Purchase of Used
Car" in the Service and Guarantee booklet or sim-
ply call the Mercedes-Benz Customer Assistance

Possible danger due to substances hazardous to
health

to incorrect modi"Ncations on electronic
component parts
Modi"Ncation of electronic components, their
so"sware or wiring could impair their function
and/or the function of other networked com- ponent parts or safety-relevant systems.
This can endanger the operating safety of the
vehicle.
Never tamper with the wiring and elec-
tronic component parts or their so"s-
ware.You should have all work on electrical
and electronic components carried out
at a quali"Ned specialist workshop.Observe the "On-board electronics" section in
"Technical data".&WARNING Risk of "Nre caused by "Oamma-
ble material on hot exhaust system com-
ponents
Flammable material such as leaves, grass or
twigs may ignite if they come into contact with
hot parts of the exhaust system.
When driving on an unpaved road or o"M-
road, check the vehicle underside regu-
larly.In particular, remove trapped plant parts
or other "Oammable material.If there is damage, consult a quali"Ned
specialist workshop immediately.*NOTE Damage to the vehicle due to driv-
ing too fast and due to impacts to the
vehicle underbody or suspension compo-
nents
In the following situations, in particular, there
is a risk of damage to the vehicle:
= The vehicle becomes grounded, e.g. on a
high curb or an unpaved road
= The vehicle is driven too fast over an
obstacle, e.g. a curb, speed bump or pot-
hole
= A heavy object strikes the underbody or
suspension components
In situations such as these, damage to the body, underbody, suspension components,wheels or tires may not be visible. Compo-
nents damaged in this way can unexpectedly
fail or, in the case of an accident, may no lon- ger absorb the resulting force as intended.
If the underbody paneling is damaged, "Oam-
mable materials such as leaves, grass or twigs
can collect between the underbody and the

underbody paneling. These materials mayignite if they come into contact with hot parts
of the exhaust system.Have the vehicle checked and repaired
immediately at a quali"Ned specialist
workshop.

If driving safety is impaired while con-
tinuing your journey, pull over and stop
the vehicle immediately, while paying
attention to road and tra"Pc conditions,
and contact a quali"Ned specialist work-
shop.
Plug-in hybrid
Hybrid vehicles have an internal-combustion engine and at least one electric motor. The energy
supply for operating the vehicle electrically is pro-
vided by the high-voltage on-board electrical sys-
tem.
&DANGER Risk of death and "Nre due to
modi"Ned and/or damaged components of
the high-voltage on-board electrical sys- tem
The vehicle\bs high-voltage on-board electrical
system is under high voltage. If you modify component parts in the vehicle\bs high-voltage
on-board electrical system or touch damaged
component parts, you may be electrocuted. In
addition, modi"Ned and/or damaged compo-
nents may cause a "Nre.
In the event of an accident or impact to the
vehicle underbody, components of the high- voltage electrical system may be damaged
although the damage is not visible.
Never make any modi"Ncations to the
high-voltage on-board electrical system.Do not switch on or use the vehicle if its
high-voltage on-board electrical system
components have been modi"Ned or dam-
aged.Never touch damaged components of
the high-voltage on-board electrical sys- tem.A"ser an accident, do not touch any com-
ponents of the high-voltage on-board
electrical system.A"ser an accident, have the vehicle trans-
ported away.Have the components of the high-voltage
on-board electrical system checked at a
quali"Ned specialist workshop and
replaced if necessary.
The components of the vehicle\bs high-voltage on- board electrical system are marked with yellow warning stickers. The cables of the high-voltage
on-board electrical system are orange.

Notes on assembling the license plate on the
front license plate holder
*NOTE Malfunctions and system failures
due to incorrect mounting of the license
plate on the front license plate holder
If the license plate is incorrectly mounted on
the front license plate holder, sensors, cam- eras or driving and safety systems may mal-
function or fail.
Observe the following points when mounting
the license plate on the front license plate holder:Mount the license plate directly on thelicense plate holder without advertising
media or other holders.Mount the license plate so that it does not protrude above or to the side of the
license plate adapter.
National information for components relevant to
radio regulation
USA: "Radio based devices of this vehicle comply with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is sub-
ject to the following two conditions: 1) These devi- ces may not cause harmful interference, and 2)
These devices must accept any interference
received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.Changes or modi"Ncations not
expressly approved by the party responsible for
compliance could void the user!

repair and maintenance work or for reading out
vehicle data in a specialist workshop. Diagnostic devices should therefore only be connected in a
quali"Ned specialist workshop.&WARNING Risk of accident due to con-
necting devices to the diagnostics con-
nection
If you connect devices to the diagnostics con-
nection of the vehicle, the function of vehicle systems and operating safety may be
impaired.
For safety reasons, we recommend that
you use and connect only products
approved by an authorized Mercedes-
Benz Service Center.&WARNING Risk of accident due to objects
in the driver\bs footwell
Objects in the driver\bs footwell may impede
pedal travel or block a depressed pedal.
This jeopardizes the operating and road safety
of the vehicle.
Stow all objects in the vehicle securely so that they cannot get into the driver\bs
footwell.Always install the "Ooor mats securely
and as prescribed in order to ensure that
there is always su"Pcient room for the
pedals.Do not use loose "Ooor mats and do not
place "Ooor mats on top of one another.*NOTE Battery discharging from using devi-
ces connected to the diagnostics connec-
tion
Using devices at the diagnostics connection
drains the battery.
Check the charge level of the battery.If the charge level is low, charge the bat- tery, e.g. by driving a considerable dis-
tance.
Please also note the information about the 12 V
battery and short-distance trips in the "Driving and Parking" chapter (  page 207).
Connecting and using another device with the
diagnostics connection can have the following
e"Mects:
= Malfunctions in the vehicle system
= Permanent damage to vehicle components
Please refer to the warranty terms and conditions
for this matter.

Moreover, connecting equipment to the diagnos-tics connection can lead to emissions monitoringinformation being reset, for example. This maylead to the vehicle failing to meet the require-
ments of the next emissions inspection during the
main inspection.
Quali"Ned specialist workshop
An authorized Mercedes-Benz Service Center is a quali"Ned specialist workshop. It has the necessary
special skills, tools and quali"Ncations to correctly
carry out the work required on your vehicle. This
particularly applies to safety-relevant work.
Always have the following work carried out on
your vehicle at a quali"Ned specialist workshop:
= Safety-relevant work
= Service and maintenance work
= Repair work
= Modi"Ncations as well as installations and con-
versions
= Work on electronic components
= Plug-in hybrid: work on the hybrid system
=
Vehicles with 48 V on-board electrical system:
work on the high-voltage component of the 48V on-board electrical system

vehicle systems and/or maintaining a distance
from the components.
Plug-in hybrid
When charging the high-voltage battery, keep a distance of at least an arm\bs length between the medical aid and the following components:
= The power supply equipment
This includes charging stations in the form of a
wallbox or a public charging point, for exam-
ple.
= Vehicle components carrying live voltage
This includes the charging cable and the
charging control box, for example.
Only have repairs and maintenance work in the
area of the following components carried out at a
quali"Ned specialist workshop:
= Vehicle components carrying live voltage
= Transmission antenna
= Multimedia system and sound system
If you have any queries or suggestions, consult a
quali"Ned specialist workshop.Problems with your vehicle
If you should experience a problem with your vehi- cle, particularly one that you believe may a"Mect its
safe operation, we urge you to contact an author- ized Mercedes-Benz Center immediately to have
the problem diagnosed and recti"Ned. If the prob-
lem is not resolved to your satisfaction, please
discuss the problem again with an authorized
