In the event of a breakdown or accident, fur-
ther vehicle data is sent which enables optimal
support by the Mercedes-Benz Customer Cen-

Telediagnostics
With the Telediagnostics function, speci"Nc
wear and failure reports are recorded by the
service provider, in so far as these can be
clearly interpreted and are available through
the monitoring of components that are subject
to diagnostics.If your vehicle detects a breakdown or threat of a breakdown, you may be prompted via the
multimedia system to contact the Mercedes- Benz Customer Center for further help. Thisprompt in the multimedia system only appears
when the vehicle is stationary.\bThese services are subject to technical
restrictions such as the mobile phone cover- age, mobile network quality and the ability ofthe processing systems to interpret the trans-ferred data. In some circumstances, this can
result in delays or the failure of the informa- tion to appear in the multimedia system.
Please note that the service and breakdown call is
a Mercedes-Benz service. In emergencies, be
sure to contact the usual national emergency
number "Nrst or use the Mercedes-Benz emer-
gency call system (  page 391).

The data transferred during a Mercedes me con- nect call depends on:
= The reason for initiation of the call
= The service that is selected in the voice con-
trol system
= The activated Mercedes me connect services

using the services in the currently valid Mercedes
me connect terms of use and the data protection
information for Mercedes me connect. You can "Nnd these in your Mercedes me user account.

When you log in with a user account to the
Mercedes me Portal, then services and o"Mers
from Mercedes-Benz will be available to you.

You can call up the menu using Apps in the multi-
media system.
In the Apps menu, the following options can be

Overview of Smartphone Integration
With Smartphone Integration, you can use certain
functions on your mobile phone via the multime- dia system display.
Only one mobile phone at a time can be connec-
ted via Smartphone Integration to the multimedia system. Also for use with two phone mode withSmartphone Integration, only one additional
mobile phone can be connected using Bluetooth n
with the multimedia system.
The full range of functions for Smartphone Inte-
gration is only possible with an Internet connec-

tion. The appropriate application must be down-
loaded on the mobile phone to use Smartphone
Integration. The mobile phone must be switched
on and connected to the multimedia system via
the USB port using a suitable cable.

You can start Smartphone Integration using theDevices menu.
You can end Smartphone Integration via the Devi-
ces or by disconnecting the connecting cable
between the mobile phone and multimedia sys-
tem.
\bMercedes-Benz recommends disconnecting
the connection via the device manager or theconnecting cable only when the vehicle is sta-
tionary.
Overview of transferred vehicle data
When using Smartphone Integration, certain vehi-
cle data is transferred to the mobile phone. This enables you to get the best out of selected mobile phone services. Vehicle data is not directly acces-
sible.
The following system information is transmitted:
= So"sware release of the multimedia system
= System ID (anonymized)
The transfer of this data is used to optimize com-
munication between the vehicle and the mobile phone.
To do this, and to assign several vehicles to the
mobile phone, a vehicle identi"Ner is randomly gen-
erated.
This has no connection to the vehicle identi"Nca-
tion number (VIN) and is deleted when the multi-
media system is reset (  page 363).
The following driving status data is transmitted: = Transmission position engaged
=Distinction between parked, standstill, rolling
and driving
= Day/night mode of the driver\bs display
= Drive type
The transfer of this data is used to alter how con- tent is displayed to correspond to the driving sit-
uation.
The following position data is transmitted: = Coordinates
= Speed
= Compass direction
= Acceleration direction
The mobile phone uses this data to improve the
accuracy of navigation, for example, when driving
through a tunnel.

Your vehicle is equipped with the Mercedes-Benz emergency call system (!

help save lives in the event of an accident. eCall
in no way replaces assistance provided from dial-
ing 911.
Mercedes-Benz eCall only functions in areas
where mobile phone coverage is available from
the wireless service providers. *nsu"Pcient net-
work coverage from the wireless service providers may result in an emergency call not being trans-
mitted.
eCall is a standard feature in your Mercedes-Benz vehicle. In order to function as intended, the sys-tem relies on the transmission of data detailed in
the Transmitted Data section that follows.
To disable eCall, a customer must visit an author- ized Mercedes-Benz Service department to deac-
tivate the vehicle!

The Mercedes-Benz emergency call system trig- gers an emergency call automatically in the fol-
lowing cases:
= A"ser activation of the restraint systems such
as air bags or Emergency Tensioning Devices a"ser an accident

The emergency call has been made:
= A voice connection is made to the Mercedes-
Benz emergency call center.
= A message with accident data is transmitted
to the Mercedes-Benz emergency call center.
The Mercedes-Benz emergency call centercan transmit the vehicle position data to one
of the emergency call centers.
The SOS button in the overhead control panel
"Oashes until the emergency call is "Nnished.
It is not possible to immediately end an automatic
emergency call.If no connection can be made to the emergency
services either, a corresponding message appears in the media display.Dial the local emergency number on yourmobile phone.
If an emergency call has been initiated:
= Remain in the vehicle if the road and tra"Pc
conditions permit you to do so until a voice connection is established with the emergency
call center operator.
= Based on the call, the operator decides
whether it is necessary to call rescue teams
and/or the police to the accident site.
= If no vehicle occupant answers, an ambulance
is sent to the vehicle immediately.
Triggering a manual Mercedes-Benz emergency
call
To use the SOS button in the overhead con- trol panel: press the SOS button at least one
second long (  page 384).
or
To use voice control: use the voice commands
of the MBUX Voice Assistant.
The emergency call has been made:
= A voice connection is made to the Mercedes-
Benz emergency call center.
= A message with accident data is transmitted
to the Mercedes-Benz emergency call center.
The Mercedes-Benz emergency call centercan transmit the vehicle position data to one
of the emergency call centers.
= Remain in the vehicle if the road and tra"Pc

In the event of an automatic or manual emergency
call the following data is transmitted, for example:
= Vehicle\bs GPS position data
= GPS position data on the route (a few hundred
meters before the incident)
= Direction of travel
= Vehicle identi&#34;Ncation number
= Vehicle drive type
= Number of people detected in the vehicle
= Whether Mercedes me connect is available or
not
= Whether the emergency call was initiated
manually or automatically
= Time of the accident
= Language setting on the multimedia system
Data transmitted is vehicle information. For any
questions about the collection, use and sharing of
the eCall system data, please contact MBUSA\bs
Customer Assistance Center at 800-FOR-MERC.
For Canada, please contact MBC\bs Customer Assistance Center at 1-800-387-0100.
Customer requests for covered information should
be submitted via the same channels.
For accident clari&#34;Ncation purposes, the following
measures can be taken up to an hour a&#34;ser the
emergency call has been initiated:
