Display messages
Introduction
qInformation about display messages
Display messages appear on the driver\bs display.
Display messages with graphical symbols are sim-
pli"Ned in the Operator\bs Manual and may di"Mer
from the symbols on the driver\bs display. The driv-
er\bs display shows high-priority display messages
in red. Certain display messages are accompa-
nied by a warning tone.
Please act in accordance with the display mes-
sages and follow the additional notes in the Oper-
ator\bs Manual.
For some display messages, symbols will also be
shown:

*The restraint system is malfunctioning (  page 48).&WARNING Risk of injury due to malfunctions in the restraint system
Components in the restraint system may be activated unintentionally or not deploy as planned in an accident.
Have the restraint system checked and repaired immediately at a quali"Ned specialist workshop.
Plug-in hybrid:
&DANGER Risk of death due to the restraint system malfunctioning
Components in the restraint system may be activated unintentionally or not deploy as intended in an accident. In
the event of an accident, the high-voltage on-board electrical system may not be deactivated as intended.
You may receive an electric shock if you touch the damaged components of the high-voltage on-board electrical
system.

The window curtain airbag might be triggered unintentionally or might not be triggered at all in the event of an
accident.
Have the window curtain airbag checked and repaired immediately at a quali"Ned specialist workshop.Push rear-left seat belt
extender back manually.

ual (example)*The corresponding seat belt extender is malfunctioning.Slide the seat belt extender back into its original position manually.If the malfunction occurs again, consult a quali"Ned specialist workshop.Front Passenger Airbag Dis-
abled See Operator's Man-
ual*The front passenger air bag has been disabled even though an adult or a person of adult build is on the front
passenger seat. If additional forces are applied to the seat, the weight the system detects may be too low.&WARNING Risk of injury or fatal injury due to a disabled front passenger airbag
If the front passenger airbag is disabled, the front passenger airbag will not be deployed in the event of an accident
and cannot perform its intended protective function.
A person in the front passenger seat could then, for example, come into contact with the vehicle\bs interior, espe-
cially if the person is sitting too close to the cockpit.
Make sure, both before and during the journey, that the status of the front passenger airbag is correct.492Display messages and warning/indicator lamps

Enabled See Operator's
Manual*The front passenger air bag will be enabled while the vehicle is in motion in the following situations:
= even when a child, a small adult or an object weighing less than the system weight threshold is located on the front
passenger seat
= even when the front passenger seat is not occupied
The system may detect objects or forces that are adding to the weight applied to the seat.&WARNING Risk of injury or death when using a child restraint system while the front passenger airbag is ena-
bled
If you secure a child in a child restraint system on the front passenger seat and the front passenger airbag is ena- bled, the front passenger airbag can deploy in the event of an accident.
The child could be struck by the airbag.
Ensure, both before and during the journey, that the status of the front passenger airbag is correct.
NEVER use a rearward facing child restraint on a seat protected by an ACTIVE AIRBAG in front of it, DEATH or
SERIOUS INJURY to the CHILD can occur.
