Automatic locking feature
XTo deactivate:press and hold buttonCforabout five seconds until a tone sounds.
XTo activate:press and hold buttonDforabout five seconds until a tone sounds.
If you press one of the two buttons and do nothear a tone, the relevant setting has alreadybeen selected.
The vehicle is locked automatically when theignition is switched on and the wheels areturning.
You could therefore lock yourself out if:
Rthe vehicle is being pushed.
Rthe vehicle is being towed.
Rthe vehicle is on a roller dynamometer.
You can also switch the automatic lockingfunction on and off using the on-board com-puter (Ypage 178).
Unlocking/locking the driver's door
using the mechanical key
iIf you want to centrally lock the vehicleusing the mechanical key, begin by pressingthe locking button for the interior lockingmechanism while the driver's door is open.Then lock the driver's door using themechanical key.
XTo unlock:turn the mechanical key coun-ter-clockwise as far as it will go to positionG.
XTo lock:turn the mechanical key clockwiseas far as it will go to positionG.
If you use the mechanical key to unlock andopen the driver's door, the anti-theft alarmsystem will be triggered. Switch off the alarm(Ypage 64).
Trunk
Important safety notes
GWARNING
If objects, luggage or loads are not secured
or not secured sufficiently, they could slip,
tip over or be flung around and thereby hit
vehicle occupants. There is a risk of injury,
particularly in the event of sudden braking
or a sudden change in direction.
Always store objects so that they cannot be
flung around. Secure objects, luggage or
loads against slipping or tipping before the
journey.
!The trunk lid swings upwards whenopened. Therefore, make sure that there issufficient clearance above the trunk lid.
!Only close the trunk once the roof is low-ered completely. Otherwise, you could dam-age the roof.
If you close the trunk lid before the roof islowered completely, the loading aid switchlights up and a warning tone sounds.

bulbs of the same type and the specified volt-age.
Marks on the glass tube reduce the service lifeof the bulbs. Do not touch the glass tube withyour bare hands. If necessary, clean the glasstube when cold with alcohol or spirit and rub itoff with a lint-free cloth.
Protect bulbs from moisture during operation.Do not allow bulbs to come into contact withliquids.
Only replace the lamps listed (Ypage 102).Have the bulbs that you cannot replace your-self replaced at a qualified specialist work-shop.
If you require assistance replacing lamps, con-sult a qualified specialist workshop.
If the new lamp still does not light up, consulta qualified specialist workshop.
Bulbs and lamps are an important aspect ofvehicle safety. You must therefore make surethat these function correctly at all times. Havethe headlamp setting checked regularly.
Vehicles with LED headlamps
The front and rear light clusters of your vehicleare equipped with LED light bulbs. Do notreplace the bulbs yourself. Contact a qualifiedspecialist workshop which has the necessaryspecialist knowledge and tools to carry out thework required.

ECO start/stop function
During automatic engine switch-off, the cli-mate control system only operates at areduced capacity. If you require full climatecontrol capacity, the ECO start/stop functioncan be deactivated by pressing the ECO but-ton (Ypage 122).

When the climate control is switched off, theair supply and air circulation are also switchedoff. The windows could fog up. Therefore,switch off climate control only briefly

Switching cooling with air dehumidi-
fication on/off
General notes
If you deactivate the "Cooling with air-dehu-midification" function, the air inside the vehiclewill not be cooled. The air inside the vehiclewill also not be dehumidified. The windows canfog up more quickly. Therefore, deactivate thecooling with air-dehumidification function onlybriefly.
The "Cooling with air dehumidification" func-tion is only available when the engine is run-ning. The air inside the vehicle is cooled anddehumidified according to the temperatureselected.
Condensation may drip from the underside ofthe vehicle when it is in cooling mode. This isnormal and not a sign that there is a malfunc-tion.

GWARNING
Very hot or very cold air can flow from the
air vents. This could result in burns or frost-
bite in the immediate vicinity of the air
vents. There is a risk of injury.
Make sure that all vehicle occupants always
maintain a sufficient distance to the air out-
lets. If necessary, redirect the airflow to
another area of the vehicle interior.
GWARNING
When AIRSCARF is switched on, very hot air
can flow from the vents in the head
restraints. This could result in burns in the
immediate vicinity of the air vents. There is a
risk of injury.
Reduce the heater output before it becomes
too hot.
In order to ensure the direct flow of fresh airthrough the air vents into the vehicle interior,please observe the following notes:
Rkeep the air inlet grille on the hood and inthe engine compartment on the front-passenger side free of blockages, such asice, snow or leaves.
Rnever cover the air vents or air intake grillesin the vehicle interior.
iYou can move the adjusters for the airvents vertically or horizontally to set thedirection of the airflow.
iFor optimal climate control in the vehicle,open the air vents completely and set theadjusters to the central position.
