used either as a standard rearview mir ror or as a

To prev ent glare from the digital rearview mir ror,
/r st set the digital rearview mir ror as the standard
re arview mir ror. Cer
tain types of sunlight (e.g. sun low on the hori-
zon) or light from ano ther intense light source can
re duce the display's contrast and cause it to
become too bright. In such situations, objects in
th e display may be obscured or di1cult tosee. In
th ese cases be particular lycareful and adapt your
driving style accordingl y.
Drivers must alw ayswe arthe necessary personal
visual aids requ ired forth em todrive a vehicle.
Drivers with presb yopia (age-related long-sighted-
ness) should, if necessar y,we ar visual aids with

Ac tive Distance Assist DISTRONIC maintains the
set speed on free-0owing roads. If vehicles ahead
are de tected, the set distance is maintained, if
necessary until theve hicle comes toa halt. The
ve hicle accelerates or brakes, depending on the
distance totheve hicle in front and the set speed.
The speed and distance totheve hicle in front are
set and sa ved using the cruise control le ver.The
speed can be set in thera nge between 20 km/h
and 200 km/h.
Other features of Active Distance Assist
DISTRONIC:
R Depending on the preselected distance,
DISTRONIC inter venes either dynamically
(short distance) or tosave fuel (long distance).

PA RKTRONIC is an electronic parking assistance
system with ultrasonic sensors. The system moni-
to rs the area around your vehicle using senso rson
th e front bumper and on there ar bumper.
PA RKTRONIC indicates visually and audibly the dis-
ta nce between your vehicle and an object.
The warning ranges in front of and behind theve hi-
cle are indicated bydi.erent warning tones.
PA RKTRONIC is only an aid. It is not a substitute
fo ryo u paying attention tothe sur roundings. Yo u
are alw aysre sponsible for safe manoeuvring, par k-
ing and exiting a parking space. Make sure that
th ere are no persons, animals or objects etc. in
th e manoeuvring area while manoeuvring and par k-
ing or exiting parking spaces.

18 km/h. PARKTRONIC is reactivated at speeds
below 16 km/h.

least one segment will light up as theve hicle
approaches an obs tacle, depending on theve hi-
cle's dis tance from the obstacle.
In addition, warning tones are emit ted. When the
distance tothe obstacle is su1cient, you will hear
an intermittent warning tone. The shor terth e dis-
ta nce tothe obstacle, the shor terth e frequency of
th e intermittent warning tones becomes. When the
minimum distance is reached, you hear a continu-
ous warning tone.
The warning display for each side of theve hicle is
divided into /ve yellow and two red segments.
PA RKTRONIC is active if measurement operational
re adiness indicator 2lights up.

The reve rsing camera is located next totheta ilgate
handle and is pr otected from raindrops and dust
by means of a 0ap. When there ve rsing camera is
activated, this 0ap opens (/ page 152).
The 0ap closes again when you ha veended the
manoeuv ring process or you switch theve hicle o..
Fo rte ch nical reasons, the 0ap may remain open
brie0y aTer there ve rsing camera has been deacti-
va ted.
Yo u can activate the automatic display function of
th ere ve rsing camera in the multimedia system
(/ page 170). When you engage reve rsege ar, the
image from there ve rsing camera is shown auto-
matically in the media displa y.Dynamic guide lines
show the path theve hicle will take forth e cur rent
steering mo vement. This helps youto orient your-
self and toavo id obstacles when reve rsing.
