:ARN,NGzDo not attach accessories to, or put them
in front of, the windscreen. These objectscould restrict the airbag inflation, or
strike and injure an occupant if the air- bags inflate.
z Do not attach additional keys or accesso-
ries (hard, pointed or heavy objects) to
the ignition key. Such objects could pre- vent the driver

Curtain airbag system*
The curtain airbags are contained in the frontpillars and roof side rail. The curtain airbag is
designed to inflate only on the side of the ve- hicle that is impacted, even with no passen- ger in the front seat or rear seat.
Deployment of side airbags and
curtain airbags
The side airbags and curtain airbags ARE DESIGNED TO
DEPLOY when

3-Collision with a utility pole, tree or other
narrow object
4- Oblique side impacts
5- Vehicle rolls onto its side or roof
Because the side airbags and curtain airbags do not protect the occupant in all types of side collisions, be sure to always properlywear your seat belts.

:ARN,NGzDo not allow any rear seat occupant to
hold onto the seatback of either front seat,
in order to reduce risk of injury from the deploying side airbags. Special care
should be taken with children.
z Do not place any objects near or in front
of the seatback of either front seat. They
could interfere with proper side airbag in- flation, and also could cause injury ifthrown free by side airbag deployment.
z Do not place stickers, labels or additional
trim on the seatback of either front seat.
They could interfere with proper side air- bag inflation.
z Do not install seat covers on seats with
side airbags. Do not re-cover seats that
have side airbags. This could interfere with proper side airbag inflation.
z Do not attach a microphone (A) or any
other device or object around the part where the curtain airbags (B) activate
such as on the windscreen, side door glass, front and rear pillars and roof side or as-
sist grips. When the curtain airbags in-
flate, the microphone or other device or object will be hurled with great force orthe curtain airbags may not activate cor-
rectly, resulting in death or serious injury.:ARN,NGz Do not put a hanger or any heavy or poin-
ted object on the coat hook. If the curtain
airbag was activated, any such item could
be propelled away with great force and could prevent the curtain airbag from in-
flating correctly. Hang clothes directly on the coat hook (without using a hanger). Make sure there are no heavy or sharp
objects in the pockets of clothes that you hang on the coat hook.
z Never install a rearward facing child re-
straint in the front passenger seat. A for-
ward facing child restraint should be used
in the rear seat whenever possible. If a forward facing child restraint must be
used in the front passenger seat, adjust the seat to the most rearward position,
and ensure that the child stays in the child restraint and away from the door.:ARN,NGz Do not allow a child to lean against or
close to the front door even if the child is seated in a child restraint system.

The system checks itself every time the igni-
tion switch is turned to the “ON” position or the operation mode is put in ON. The SRSwarning lamp will come on for several sec-
onds and then go out. This is normal and
means the system is working properly.
If there is a problem involving one or more of
the SRS components, the warning lamp will come on and stay on. At the same time, thewarning display will appear on the informa-
tion screen in the multi-information display.
The SRS warning lamp/display is shared by
the SRS airbag and the seat belt pretensioner
system.:ARN,NGz If any of the following conditions occur,
there may be a problem with the SRS air-
bags and/or seat belt pretensioners, and they may not function properly in a colli-
sion or may suddenly activate without a
collision:

Tachometer
The tachometer indicates the engine speed
(r/min). The tachometer helps you to obtain
more economical driving and also warns you
of excessive engine speeds (Red zone).
CAUT,ONz When driving, watch the tachometer to make
sure that the engine speed indication does not rise into the red zone (excessive enginerpm).Daytime dipper button (meter
illumination control)
Each time you press this button, there is a
sound and the brightness of the instruments
changes.
NOTEz You can adjust to 8 different levels for when
the position lamps are illuminated and 8 for
when they are not.
z The meter illumination switches automati-
cally to the adjusted brightness, dependingon the brightness outside the vehicle.
z The brightness level of the instruments is
stored when the ignition switch is turned to
the “LOCK” position or the operation mode is put in OFF.
z If you press and hold the button for longer
than approximately 1 second when the posi-
tion lamps are illuminated, the brightness level changes to the maximum level. Press-
ing and holding the button for longer than
approximately 1 second again returns the brightness level to the previous level.
On vehicles equipped with the Smartphone-
link Display Audio (SDA) or the Smart- phone- link Display Audio (SDA) naviga-
tion system, the following conditions may
occur when the meter illumination bright-
ness level is at the maximum.
