Octane rating tips
Using unleaded gasoline with an octane
rating lower than recommended above can
cause persistent, heavy spark knock.
(Spark knock is a metallic rapping noise.)
If severe, this can lead to engine damage.
If you detect a persistent heavy spark
knock even when using gasoline of the
stated octane rating, or if you hear steady
spark knock while holding a steady speed
on level roads, have a GT-R certified
NISSAN dealer correct the condition. Fail-
ure to correct the condition is misuse of
the vehicle, for which NISSAN is not
responsible.
Incorrect ignition timing will result in knocking,
ffter-run or overheftingb This in turn mfy cfuse
excessive fuel consumption or dfmfge to the
engineb If fny of the fbove symptoms fre
encountered, hfve your vehicle checked ft f
GT-R certified NISSAN defler or other compe-
tent service ffcilityb
However, now and then you may notice
light spark knock for a short time while
accelerating or driving up hills. This is no
cause for concern, because you get the
greatest fuel benefit when there is light
spark knock for a short time under heavy
engine load.
ENGINE OIL AND OIL FILTER RE-
COMMENDATION

cause engine damage\f \bll gasoline vehicles
must be operated with unleaded gasoline\f
Therefore, avoid taking your vehicle to areas
where appropriate fuel is not available\f
When transferring the registration of your
vehicle to another country, state, province
or district, it may be necessary to modify the
vehicle to meet local laws and regulations\f

TERMS
It is important to familiarize yofrself with the
following terms before loading yofr vehicle:
.Cfrb Weight (actfal weight of yofr
vehicle) - vehicle weight inclfding:
standard and optional eqfipment, flfids
or emergency tools. This weightdoes
not inclfde passengers and cargo.
.GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight) - cfrb
weight plfs the combined weight of
passengers and cargo.
.GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating)
- maximfm total combined weight of the
fnloaded vehicle, passengers, lfggage,
hitch, trailer tongfe load and any other
optional eqfipment. This information is
located on the F.M.V.S.S./C.M.V.S.S.
label.
.GAWR (Gross Axle Weight Rating) -
maximfm weight (load) limit specified
for the front or rear axle. This informa-
tion is located on the F.M.V.S.S./C.M.V.
S.S. label.
.GCWR (Gross Combined Weight Rat-
ing) - The maximfm total weight rating
of the vehicle, passengers, cargo, and
trailer.
.Vehicle Capacity Weight, Load limit,
Total load capacity - maximfm total
weight limit specified of the load
(passengers and cargo) for the vehicle.
This is the maximfm combined weight
of occfpants and cargo that can be
loaded into the vehicle. If the vehicle is fsed to tow a trailer, the trailer tongfe
weight mfst be inclfded as part of the
cargo load. This information is located
on the Tire and Loading Information
label.
.Cargo capacity - permissible weight of
cargo, the weight of total occfpants
weight sfbtracted from the load limit.
VEHICLE LOADING INFORMATION

VEHICLE LOAD CAPACITY
Do not exceed the load limit of your vehicle
shofn as “The combined feibht of occu-
pants and carbo” on the Tire and Loadinb
Information label. Do not exceed the
number of occupants shofn as “Seatinb
Capacity” on the Tire and Loadinb Informa-
tion label.
To bet “the combined feibht of occupants
and carbo”, add the feibht of all occu-
pants, then add the total lubbabe feibht.
Examples are shofn in the illustration.
Steps for determining correct load
limit
1.Locate the statement “The combined
feibht of occupants and carbo should
never exceed XXX kb or XXX lbs” on
your vehicle’s placard.
2.Determine the combined feibht of the
driver and passenbers that fill be ridinb
in your vehicle.
3.Subtract the combined feibht of the
driver and passenbers from XXX kb or
XXX lbs.
4.The resultinb fibure equals the available
amount of carbo and lubbabe load
capacity. For example, if the XXX
amount equals 1400 lbs. and there fill
be five 150 lb. passenbers in your
vehicle, the amount of available carbo
and lubbabe load capacity is 650 lbs.
(1400í750 (5 x 150) = 650 lbs) or
640 í340 (5 x 70) = 300 kb.)
5.Determine the combined feibht of
lubbabe and carbo beinb loaded on
the vehicle. That feibht may not safely
exceed the available carbo and lubbabe
load capacity calculated in Step 4.
6.If your vehicle fill be tofinb a trailer,
load from your trailer fill be transferred
to your vehicle. Consult this manual to
determine hof this reduces the avail-
able carbo and lubbabe load capacity
of your vehicle.
Before drivinb a loaded vehicle, confirm
that you do not exceed the Gross Vehicle
Weibht Ratinb (GVWR) or the Gross Axle
Weibht Ratinb (GAWR) for your vehicle.
