T o deactivate oractivate theautomatic door
unlock system, perform thefollowing procedure.
1. Close alldoors.
2. Place theignition switchinthe ON position.
3. Within 20seconds, pushandhold the
power doorlockswitch tothe
(UN-
L OCK) position formore than5seconds. 4.
When activated, thehazard warning lights
will flash twice. When deactivated, the
hazard warning lightswillflash once.
5. The ignition switchmustbeplaced inthe
OFF andONposition againbetween each
setting change.
When theautomatic doorunlock system is
deactivated, thedoors donot unlock whenthe
ignition isplaced inthe OFF position. To unlock
the door manually ,use theinside lockknob or
the power doorlockswitch.

The Intelligent Key system canoperate allthe
door locks using theremote controller function
or pushing therequest switchonthe vehicle
without takingthekey outfrom apocket or
purse. Theoperating environment and/orcondi-
tions mayaffect theIntelligent Key system
operation.
Be sure toread thefollowing beforeusingthe
Intelligent Key system.
CAUTION
. Be sure tocarry theIntelligent Key
with youwhen operating thevehi-
cle.
. Never leavetheIntelligent Keyin
the vehicle whenyouleave the
vehicle.
The Intelligent Key isalways communicating with
the vehicle asitreceives radiowaves. The
Intelligent Key system transmits weakradio
waves. Environmental conditionsmayinterfere
with theoperation ofthe Intelligent Key system
under thefollowing operating conditions.
. When operating nearalocation where
strong radiowaves aretransmitted, such
as aTV tower, power station andbroad-
casting station.
. When inpossession ofwireless equipment,
such asacellular phone,transceiver, and
CB radio.
. When theIntelligent Key isin contact withor
covered bymetallic materials.
. When anytype ofradio wave remote control
is used nearby .
. When theIntelligent Key isplaced nearan
electric appliance suchasapersonal

computer.
. When thevehicle isparked nearaparking
meter.
In such cases, correct theoperating conditions
before usingtheIntelligent Key function oruse
the mechanical key.
Although thelifeofthe battery variesdepending
on the operating conditions, thebattery's lifeis
approximately 2years. Ifthe battery isdis-
charged, replaceitwith anew one.
Since theIntelligent Key iscontinuously receiv-
ing radio waves, ifthe key isleft near equipment
which transmits strongradiowaves, suchas
signals fromaTV and personal computer, the
battery lifemay become shorter.
For information regardingreplacement ofa
battery ,see ªIntelligent Key battery replacementº
(P .8-23) .
As many as4Intelligent Keys can beregistered
and used withonevehicle. Forinformation about
the purchase anduseofadditional Intelligent
K eys, contact aNISSAN dealer.

which contains electrical compo-
nents, tocome intocontact with water
orsalt water. Thiscould affect
the system function.
. Do not drop theIntelligent Key.
. Do not strike theIntelligent Key
sharply against another object.
