ing radio waves, ifthe key isleft near equipment
which transmits strongradiowaves, suchas
signals fromaTV and personal computer, the
battery lifemay become shorter.

all door locks using theremote keyless entry function
ofthe Intelligent Key .The remote
keyless entryfunction canoperate atadistance
of approximately 33ft(10 m)from thevehicle.

conditions aroundthevehicle.)
The remote keyless entryfunction willnot
operate:
. When theIntelligent Key isnot within the
operational range.
. When thedoors areopen ornot closed
securely .
. When theIntelligent Key battery isdis-
charged.
The remote keyless entryfunction canalso
operate thevehicle alarm.

position.
2. Push theignition switchtothe OFF position.
3. Open thedoor. Theignition switchwill
change tothe LOCK position.
The shift lever canbemoved fromtheP
(Park) position ifthe ignition switchisin
the ONposition andthebrake pedalis
depressed.

If the battery ofthe Intelligent Key isdischarged,
or environmental conditionsinterferewiththe
Intelligent Key operation, starttheengine
according tothe following procedure:
1. Move theshift lever tothe P(Park) position
(for Continuously Variable Transmission
models) orthe shift lever tothe N(Neutral)
position (formanual transmission models).
2. Firmly applythefoot brake.
3. Touch theignition switchwiththeIntelligent
K ey as illustrated. (Achime willsound.) 4.
Push theignition switchwhiledepressing
the brake pedalwithin 10seconds afterthe
chime sounds. Theengine willstart.
After step3is performed, whentheignition
switch ispushed withoutdepressing thebrake
pedal, theignition switchposition willchange to
ACC.
NO TE:
. When theignition switchispushed to
the ACC orON position orthe engine is
started bythe above procedures, the
Intelligent Keysystem warning light
may blink inyellow evenifthe Intelli-
gent Keyisinside thevehicle. Thisis
not amalfunction. To stop thewarning
light from blinking, touchtheignition
switch withtheIntelligent Keyagain.
. Ifthe Intelligent Keysystem warning
light inthe meter isblinking ingreen,
replace thebattery assoon aspossible.

and condition. Alsocheck tiresforproper
inflation.
. Lock alldoors.
. Position seatandadjust headrestraints.
. Adjust insideandoutside mirrors.
. Fasten seatbelts andaskallpassengers to
do likewise.
. Check theoperation ofwarning lightswhen
the ignition switchisplaced inthe ON
