How toarm thevehicle security system

1. Close allwindows.
The system canbearmed evenifthe
windows areopen.
2. Place theignition switchinthe OFF position
and remove theIntelligent Key from the
vehicle.
3. Close alldoors. Lockalldoors. Thedoors
can belocked with:

4. Confirm thatthesecurity indicator light
illuminates. Thesecurity indicator lightstays
on for about 30seconds. Thevehicle
security systemisnow pre-armed. After
about 30seconds thevehicle security
system automatically shiftsintothearmed
phase. Thesecurity lightbegins toflash
once every approximately 3seconds. If,
during this30-second pre-armtimeperiod,
the door isunlocked, orthe ignition switchis
placed inthe ACC orON position, the
system willnotarm.
Even when thedriver and/or passengers
are inthe vehicle, thesystem willactivate
with alldoors locked withtheignition
switch inthe LOCK position. Whenplacing
the ignition switchinthe ACC orON
position, thesystem willbereleased.
V ehicle security systemactivation

The vehicle security systemwillgive thefollow-
ing alarm:
. The headlights blinkandthehorn sounds
intermittently .
. The alarm automatically turnsoffafter
approximately 50seconds. However, the
alarm reactivates ifthe vehicle istampered
with again. The
alarm isactivated by:
. Unlocking thedoor without usingthe
Intelligent Key ,the request switchorthe
key .(Even ifthe door isopened byreleasing
the door inside lockknob, thealarm will
activate.)

allow theengine tostart without theuse ofthe
registered key.
If the engine failstostart using theregistered

ring. Restart theengine usingthefollowing
procedures:

Dynamic Control(VDC)system onfor most
driving conditions.
If the vehicle isstuck inmud orsnow ,the VDC
system reduces theengine outputtoreduce
wheel spin.Theengine speedwillbereduced
even ifthe accelerator isdepressed tothe floor.
If maximum enginepowerisneeded tofree a
stuck vehicle, turntheVDC system off.
T o turn offthe VDC system, pushtheVDC OFF
switch. The
indicator lightwillilluminate.
Push theVDC OFFswitch againorrestart the
engine toturn onthe system. (SeeªVehicle

This vehicle isequipped withanEvent Data
Recorder (EDR).The main purpose ofan EDR is
to record, incertain crashornear crash-like
situations, suchasan airbag deployment or
hitting aroad obstacle, datathatwillassist in
understanding howavehicle's systemsper-
formed. TheEDR isdesigned torecord data
related tovehicle dynamics andsafety systems
for ashort period oftime, typically 30seconds
or less. TheEDR inthis vehicle isdesigned to
record suchdataas:
. How various systems inyour vehicle were
operating;
. Whether ornot thedriver andpassenger
safety beltswere buckled/fastened;
. How far(ifat all) the driver wasdepressing
the accelerator and/orbrakepedal; and,
. How fastthevehicle wastraveling.
. Sounds arenot recorded.
These datacanhelp provide abetter under-
standing ofthe circumstances inwhich crashes
and injuries occur.
NO TE: EDR dataarerecorded byyour vehicle
only ifa nontrivial crashsituation occurs;nodata
are recorded bythe EDR under normal driving
conditions andnopersonal data(e.g.name,
gender, ageandcrash location) arerecorded.
However, otherparties, suchaslaw enforce-
ment, could combine theEDR datawiththetype of
personally identifying dataroutinely acquired
during acrash investigation.
T o read datarecorded byan EDR, special
equipment isrequired andaccess tothe vehicle
or the EDR isneeded. Inaddition tothe vehicle
manufacturer andNISSAN dealer,otherparties,
such aslaw enforcement, thathave thespecial
equipment, canread theinformation ifthey have
access tothe vehicle orthe EDR. EDRdatawill
only beaccessed withtheconsent ofthe vehicle
owner orlessee oras otherwise requiredor
permitted bylaw .
