Do not attempt tostart theengine bypushing the
vehicle.
CAUTION:
. Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT)/
Manual Transmission (MT)model cannot be
started bypushing. Attempting todo somay
cause damage tothe transmission.
. Three-way catalystequipped modelshould
not bestarted bypushing. Attempting todo
so may cause damage tothe catalyst.
. Never trytostart theengine bytowing.
When theengine starts,theforward surge
could cause thevehicle tocollide withthe
towing vehicle.

WARNING:
. Never continue drivingifyour vehicle over-
heats. Doingsocould cause avehicle fire.
. Never openthehood ifsteam iscoming out.
. Never remove theradiator orcoolant reser-
voir capwhile theengine ishot. Ifthe
radiator orcoolant reservoir capisremoved
when theengine ishot, pressurized hot
water willspurt outand possibly cause
burning, scalding orserious injury.
. Ifsteam orcoolant iscoming fromthe
engine, standclearofthe vehicle toprevent
getting burned.
. The engine cooling fanwill start atanytime
when thecoolant temperature exceedspre-
set degrees.
. Becareful nottoallow yourhands, hair,
jewelry orclothing tocome intocontact with,
or toget caught inthe cooling fanordrive
belts.
If your vehicle isoverheating (indicatedbythe high
temperature indicator),or ifyou feel alack ofengine
power, detectunusual noise,etc.,takethefollowing
steps:
1. Safely movethevehicle offthe road away from
traffic.
2. Turn onthe hazard indicator flasherlights.
3. Apply theparking brake.
4. Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT)model:
Move theshift lever tothe ªPº (Park) position.
Manual Transmission (MT)model: Movetheshift
lever tothe ªNº (Neutral) position.
DO NOTST OP THE ENGINE . 5.
Open allthe windows.
6. Turn offthe airconditioner. Movethetemperature
control tomaximum hotand thefancontrol tohigh
speed.
7. Get outfrom thevehicle.
8. Visually inspectandlisten forsteam orcoolant
escaping fromtheradiator beforeopening the
hood. Wait until nosteam orcoolant canbeseen
before proceeding.
9. Open theengine hood.
10. Visually inspectifthe cooling fanisrunning.
11. Visually inspecttheradiator andradiator hosesfor
leakage.
If the cooling fanisnot running orthe coolant is
leaking, stoptheengine.
12. After theengine coolsdown, checkthecoolant
level inthe reservoir withtheengine running. Do
not open theradiator cap.
13. Add coolant tothe reservoir ifnecessary .
Have yourvehicle inspected/repaired ataNISSAN
dealer.

the engine andradiator cooldown.
. Engine coolant ispoisonous andshould be
stored carefully inmarked containers outof
the reach ofchildren.
. Ifthe engine wasstopped soonwhen the
engine ishot, thecooling fanmay operate
for approximately 10minutes afterthe
engine wasstopped tocool thecomponents
in the engine compartment. Whenthecool-
ing fan isoperating, besure thathands or
other items donot getcaught init(for
MR16DDT engine).
The engine cooling systemisfilled atthe factory witha
high-quality ,year-round, anti-freezecoolantsolution.
The anti-freeze solutioncontains rustandcorrosion
inhibitors, thereforeadditional coolingsystemadditives
are not necessary .
CAUTION:
. Never useanycooling systemadditives such
as radiator sealer.Additives mayclog the
cooling systemandcause damage tothe
engine, transmission and/orcooling system.
. When adding orreplacing coolant,besure
to use only Genuine NISSANEngineCoolant
or equivalent inits quality withtheproper
mixture ratio.Examples ofthe mixture ratio
of coolant andwater areshown inthe
following table:
