Adjustment of Steering Angle Sensor Neutral PositionBFS000DO
In case of doing work that applies to the list below, make sure to adjust neutral position of steering angle sen-
sor before running vehicle.

OPERATION PROCEDURE
1. Stop vehicle with front wheels in straight-ahead position.
2. Perform CONSULT-II Starting Procedure. Refer to GI-34, "
CONSULT-II Start Procedure" .
3. Touch the “CONSULT-II screen in the order of “ABS”, “WORK SUPPORT” and “ST ANGLE SENSOR
ADJUSTMENT”. Refer to BRC-57, "
CONSULT-II SETTING PROCEDURE" .
4. Touch “START”.
CAUTION:
Do not touch steering wheel while adjusting steering angle
sensor.
5. After approximately 10 seconds, touch “END”. (After approxi-
mately 60 seconds, it ends automatically.)
6. Turn ignition switch to OFF, then turn to the ON again.
CAUTION:
Be sure to perform above operation.
7. Run vehicle with front wheels in straight-ahead position, then
stop.
8. Select “DATA MONITOR”, “SELECTION FROM MENU”, and “STR ANGLE SIG” on CONSULT-II screen.
Then make sure “STR ANGLE SIG” is within 0 ± 3.5 °. If the value is more than the specification, repeat
steps 3 to 7.
9. Erase memory of ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) and ECM.
10. Turn ignition switch OFF.

INSTALLATION
Installation is the reverse order of the removal. For tightening torque, refer to FAX-5, "COMPONENT" .
NOTE:
Do not reuse non-reusable parts.
When installing transverse link ball joint, fix bolt to avoid rotation, and then tighten the nut.
Perform the final tightening of each of parts under unladen conditions, which were removed when remov-
ing wheel hub and bearing assembly and steering knuckle. Check the wheel alignment. Refer to FSU-5,
"Wheel Alignment Inspection" .
Adjust neutral position of steering angle sensor after checking the wheel alignment for the models with
VDC. Refer to BRC-40, "
Adjustment of Steering Angle Sensor Neutral Position" .
Check wheel sensor harness for proper connection. Refer to BRC-33, "WHEEL SENSORS" .
Assembly disc rotor and wheel hub and bearing assembly by
aligning each matching mark as shown in the figure when install-
ing disc rotor.
NOTE:
Refer to BR-26, "
FRONT DISC BRAKE" for assembly when
removing disc rotor without matching mark.

After removing/installing rear suspension assembly, make sure to adjust wheel alignment and then, adjust
neutral position of steering angle sensor. Refer to RSU-5, "
Wheel Alignment Inspection" and BRC-40,
"Adjustment of Steering Angle Sensor Neutral Position" .

When installing rubber bushings, final tightening must be performed under unladen conditions with tires
on ground. Oil will shorten the life of rubber bushings. Be sure to wipe off any spilled oil.
–Unladen conditions mean that fuel, engine coolant and lubricant are full. A spare tire, a jack, hand tools
and mats are in designated positions.
After servicing suspension parts, be sure to check wheel alignment.
Self-lock nut are not reusable. Always use new ones when installing. Since new self-lock nuts are pre-
oiled, tighten as they are.

Make sure that the mounting conditions (looseness, back lash) of each component and component status
(wear, damage) are normal.
INSPECTION OF TRANSVERSE LINK BALL JOINT END PLAY
1. Set front wheels in a straight-ahead position. Do not depress brake pedal.
2. Measure axial end play by placing an iron pry bar or a similar item between suspension arm and strut
assembly and prying up and down.
CAUTION:
Be careful not to damage ball joint boot. Do not damage the installation position by applying
excessive force.
STRUT INSPECTION
Check for oil leakage, damage, and breakage of installation positions.

DESCRIPTION
Measure wheel alignment under unladen conditions.
NOTE:
“Unladen” conditions mean that fuel, engine coolant, and lubricant are full. A spare tire, a jack, hand tools and
mats are in designated positions.
PRELIMINARY CHECK
1. Check Tires for improper air pressure and wear.
2. Check Road wheels for runout. Refer to WT-3, "
ROAD WHEEL" .
3. Check Wheel bearing axial end play. Refer to FAX-5, "
WHEEL BEARING INSPECTION" .
4. Check Transverse link ball joint axial end play. Refer to FSU-14, "
INSPECTION AFTER REMOVAL" .
5. Check Strut operation.
6. Check Each mounting point of axle and suspension for looseness and deformation.
7. Check Each link, rod, and member for cracks, deformation and other damage.
8. Check Vehicle height (posture).
INSPECTION OF CAMBER, CASTER AND KINGPIN INCLINATION ANGLES.
Camber, caster, kingpin inclination angles cannot be adjusted.
Before inspection, mount wheels onto turning radius gauge. Mount rear wheels onto a stand that has
same height so vehicle will remain horizontal.
Using a CCK Gauge
Install CCK gauge attachment [SST:KV991040S0] with the following procedure on wheel, then measure wheel
alignment.
1. Remove three wheel nuts, and install the guide bolts to hub
bolts.
2. Screw adapter into the plate until it contacts the plate tightly.
3. Screw center plate into the plate.
4. Insert plate on guide bolt. Put spring in, and then evenly screw
both guide bolt nuts. When fastening guide bolt nuts, do not
completely compress the spring.Axial end play : 0 mm (0 in)

5. Place the dent of alignment gauge onto the projection of center
plate and tightly contact them to measure.
CAUTION:
If camber, caster, or kingpin inclination angle is outside the
standard, check front suspension parts for wear and dam-
age. and Replace suspect parts if necessary.
Toe-In Inspection
Measure toe-in using the following procedure.
WARNING:
Always perform the following procedure on a flat surface.
Make sure that no person is in front of vehicle before push-
ing it.
1. Bounce front of vehicle up and down to stabilize the vehicle
height (posture).
2. Push vehicle straight ahead about 5 m (16 ft).
3. Put a mark on base line of the tread (rear side) of both tires at
the same height of hub center. These are measuring points.
4. Measure distance “A” (rear side).
5. Push vehicle slowly ahead to rotate wheels 180 degrees (1/2
turn).
NOTE:
If the wheels have rotated more than 180° degrees (1/2 turn),
start this procedure again from the beginning. Do not push the
vehicle backward.
6. Measure distance “B” (front side).Camber, caster, kingpin inclination angles:

13. Remove steering hydraulic piping bracket from front suspension member and rear engine mounting insu-
lator. Refer to PS-39, "
HYDRAULIC LINE" .
14. Set a jack under transaxle assembly.
15. Remove mounting bolts of front engine mounting bracket and front engine mounting insulator. Refer to
EM-223, "
ENGINE ASSEMBLY" .
16. Remove mounting bolts of rear engine mounting bracket and rear engine mounting insulator. Refer to EM-
223, "ENGINE ASSEMBLY" .
17. Remove steering gear mounting bolts and steering outer socket, and then hang steering gear on vehicle.
Refer to PS-17, "
COMPONENTS" .
18. Set a jack under front suspension member.
19. Remove mounting nuts on the front side and rebound stopper of front suspension member. Refer to FSU-
7, "Components" .
20. Remove mounting nut and bolts of member stay, then remove member stay from vehicle. Refer to FSU-7,
"Components" .
21. Gradually lower a jack to remove front suspension assembly.
INSTALLATION
Installation is the reverse order of the removal. For tightening torque, refer to FSU-7, "Components" .
NOTE:
Do not reuse non-reusable parts.
Perform final tightening of each of parts, under unladen conditions, which were removed when removing
front suspension assembly. Check the wheel alignment. Refer to FSU-5, "
Wheel Alignment Inspection" .
Adjust neutral position of steering angle sensor after checking the wheel alignment for models with VDC.
Refer to BRC-40, "
Adjustment of Steering Angle Sensor Neutral Position" .
Check wheel sensor harness for proper connection. Refer to BRC-33, "WHEEL SENSORS" .
