Radio DataSystem (RDS)operation (if
equipped) :

The RDS isasystem through whichencoded digital
information istransmitted byFM radio stations in
addition tothe normal FMradio broadcasting. The
RDS provides information servicessuchasstation
name, trafficinformation, ornews.

Alternative Frequency(AF)mode
The AFmode operates inthe FM (radio) mode.
. The AFmode operates inthe FM (radio) ,AUX or
CD mode (ifFM was previously selectedinthe

. The AFfunction compares signalstrengths and
selects thestation withtheoptimum reception
conditions forthe currently tuned-instation.
RDS functions
When anRDS station istuned inwith seek ormanual
tuning, theRDS dataisreceived andtheProgramme

T raffic announcement interruptfunction
When atraffic announcement isreceived, thean-
nouncement istuned inand thedisplay showsa
notification messagewiththeradio station name.
Once thetraffic announcement hasfinished, theunit
returns tothe source thatwas active before thetraffic
announcement started.
If TA button ispushed duringatraffic announcement,
the traffic announcement interruptmodeiscancelled.
The TA mode returns tothe standby modeandthe
audio unitreturns tothe previous source.
CD player operation

Radio operation

The audio system operates whentheignition switchis
placed inthe ªONº orªACCº position.
RADIO button:

When theRADIO buttonispushed whiletheaudio
system isoff, the audio system willturn onand the
radio willturn on.
When theRADIO buttonispushed whileanother
audio source isplaying, theother audio source willturn
off and theradio willturn on.
T o change theradio bands, pushtheRADIO button
until thedesired bandappears.
FM 1? FM 2? AM ?FM 1 When
theRADIO buttonispushed formore than1.5
seconds, thesixstations withthestrongest signalsare
stored inthe preset (1to6) buttons ofthe band.
During thesearch, anotification messageappearson
the display andthesound ismuted untiltheoperation
is complete. Oncecompleted, theradio selects preset
button.

Station memory buttons:

During radioreception, pushingthestation memory
button forless than 2seconds willselect thestored
radio station.
The audio system canstore upto12 FM station
frequencies (6ineach ofFM 1and FM2)and 6AM
station frequencies.
T o store thestation frequency manually:
1. Tune tothe desired broadcasting stationfre-
quency byusing theSeek/track buttons.
2. Push andhold astation memory button

until abeep sounds. (Theradio mutes whenthe
memory buttonispushed.)
3. The channel indicator willdisplay andtheradio
mute disengages, indicatingthatthememory is
stored properly .
4. Perform steps1-3 for allother memory buttons.
If the battery cableisdisconnected, orifthe audio fuse blows,
thestation memory willbeerased. Insuch a
case, resetthedesired stations.
CD player operation

Loading:

Insert aCD into theslot with thelabel sidefacing up.
The CDwillbeguided automatically intotheslot and
will start playing. Afterloading theCD, thenumber of
tracks andtheplaytime willappear onthe display .
CAUTION:
Do not force theCDinto theslot. Thiscould
damage theplayer.
NO TE:
. The CDplayer accepts normalaudioCDsor
CDs containing MP3/WMA files.
. The audio unitwillautomatically detectifa
CD containing MP3/WMA filesisinserted,
and ªMP3CDº willbeindicated.
. Anerror notification messagewillbedis-
played wheninserting anincompatible disc
type (e.g.DVD) ,or ifthe player cannot read
the CD. Eject thedisc andinsert another
disc .
