The Intelligent Key system canoperate allthe door and

operating environment and/orconditions mayaffect
the Intelligent Key system operation. Be
sure toread thefollowing beforeusingthe
Intelligent Key system.

. Never leavetheIntelligent Keyinthe vehicle
when youleave thevehicle.
. When theoutside temperature isextremely
low, theIntelligent Keysystem maynot
function properly.
The Intelligent Key isalways communicating withthe
vehicle asitreceives radiowaves. TheIntelligent Key
system transmits weakradiowaves. Environmental
conditions mayinterfere withtheoperation ofthe
Intelligent Key system underthefollowing operating
conditions.
. When operating nearalocation wherestrong
radio waves aretransmitted, suchasaTV tower,
power station andbroadcasting station.
. When inpossession ofwireless equipment, such
as acellular telephone, transceiver, andCBradio.
. When theIntelligent Key isin contact withor
covered bymetallic materials.
. When anytype ofradio wave remote controlis
used nearby .
. When theIntelligent Key isplaced nearanelectric
appliance suchasapersonal computer.
. When thevehicle isparked nearaparking meter.
In such cases, correct theoperating conditions before
using theIntelligent Key function oruse themechanical
key .
Although thelifeofthe battery variesdepending onthe
operating conditions, thebattery's lifeisapproximately
2 years. Ifthe battery isdischarged, replaceitwith a

For information regardingreplacement ofabattery ,see

Since theIntelligent Key iscontinuously receivingradio
waves, ifthe key isleft near equipment whichtransmits
strong radiowaves, suchassignals fromaTV and
personal computer, thebattery lifemay become
shorter.
Because thesteering wheelislocked electrically (if
equipped) ,unlocking thesteering wheelwiththe
ignition switchinthe ªLOCKº position isimpossible
when thevehicle batteryiscompletely discharged. Pay
special attention thatthevehicle batteryisnot
completely discharged.
As many as4Intelligent Keys can beused withone
vehicle. Forinformation aboutthepurchase anduseof
additional IntelligentKeys, contact aNISSAN dealer.
CAUTION:
. Do not allow theIntelligent Key,which
contains electrical components, tocome
into contact withwater orsalt water. This
could affect thesystem function.
. Donot drop theIntelligent Key.

The auto-reverse functionenablestheback doorto
automatically reversewhensomething iscaught inthe

unit detects anobstacle, theback doorwillreverse and
return tothe fullopen orfull close position.
If asecond obstacle isdetected, theback doormotion
will stop. Theback doorwillenter themanual mode.
A pinch sensor ismounted oneach sideofthe back
door. Ifan obstacle isdetected bythe pinch sensor
during powerclose,theback doorwillreverse and
return tothe fullopen position immediately .
NO TE:
If the pinch sensor isdamaged orremoved, the
power closefunction willnotoperate.
WARNING:
There isasmall distance immediately beforethe
closed position thatcannot bedetected. Make
sure thatallpassengers keeptheirhands, etc.,
clear fromtheback dooropening beforeclosing
the back door.
Manual mode

Before leaving thevehicle, movetheshift
lever tothe ª1º(1st) orªRº (Reverse) position

model) andcheck thattheelectronic parking
brake warning light
is illuminated to
confirm thattheelectronic parkingbrakeis
applied. Theelectronic parkingbrakewarn-
ing light willremain onfor aperiod oftime
after thedriver's doorislocked.
CAUTION:
When parking inan area where theoutside
temperature isbelow 08C (32 8F),do not apply
the parking braketoprevent itfrom freezing.
For safe parking, placetheshift lever inthe ª1º
(1st) orªRº(Reverse) position(forMTmodel) or
ªPº (Park) position (CVTmodel) andsecurely
block thewheels.
NO TE:
. To keep theelectronic parkingbrakere-
leased aftertheengine isturned off,place
the ignition switchinthe ªOFFº position,
depress thebrake pedalandpush down the
parking brakeswitch before opening the
driver's door.
. Ifamalfunction occursinthe electric park-
ing brake system (forexample, dueto
battery discharge) ,contact aNISSAN dealer.
