GUID-2201 8305-9BAB- 4201-B6FC-C08EB94AEAE0
The tyrepressure isaffected bythe temperature ofthe
tyre; thetyre temperature increaseswhenthecaris
driven. To be able toaccurately monitorthetyre air
leakage andtoprevent falseTPMS warnings dueto
changes intemperature, theTPMS system uses
temperature sensorsinthe tyres toperform tempera-
ture compensation calculations.
On rare occasions itmay benecessary torecalibrate
the TPMS system reference temperature. Thisopera-
tion should onlybeperformed whentheactual tyre
pressure hasbeen adjusted, whilstthecurrent ambient

WARNING:
. Do not breathe exhaust gas;itcontains
colorless andodorless carbonmonoxide.
Carbon monoxide isdangerous. Itcan cause
unconsciousness ordeath.
. Ifyou suspect thatexhaust fumesare
entering thevehicle, drivewithallwindows
fully open, andhave thevehicle inspected
immediately.
. Donot run theengine inclosed spaces such
as agarage.
. Do not park thevehicle withtheengine
running foranextended periodoftime.
. Keep theback doorclosed whiledriving,
otherwise exhaustgascould bedrawn into
the passenger compartment. Ifyou must
drive withtheback dooropen, follow these
precautions:
Ð Open allthe windows.
Ð Turn theairrecirculation modeoffand
set the fanspeed control tothe highest
level tocirculate theair.
. Ifelectrical wiringorother cable connec-
tions mustpasstoatrailer through theseal

manufacturer's recommendation toprevent
carbon monoxide entryintothevehicle.
. Ifaspecial bodyorother equipment is
added forrecreational orother usage, follow
the manufacturer's recommendation topre-
vent carbon monoxide entryintothevehicle.
(Some recreational vehicleappliances such
as stoves, refrigerators, heaters,etc.may also
generate carbonmonoxide.)
. The exhaust systemandbody should be
inspected byaqualified mechanic whenever:
Ð Your vehicle israised whilebeing ser-
viced.
Ð You suspect thatexhaust fumesare
entering intothepassenger compart-
ment.

WARNING:
. The exhaust gasand theexhaust systemare
very hot.Keep people, animals andflam-
mable materials awayfromtheexhaust
system components.
. Do not stop orpark thevehicle over
flammable materialssuchasdry grass,
wastepaper orrags. Theymayignite and
cause afire.
The three-way catalystisan emission controldevice
installed inthe exhaust system.Exhaust gasinthe
three-way catalystisburned athigh temperatures to
help reduce pollutants.
CAUTION:
. Donot use leaded gasoline. (SeeªRecom-
mended Fluids/lubricants andcapacitiesº
(P .9-2) .)Deposits fromleaded gasoline ser- iously
reduce theability ofthe three-way
catalyst tohelp reduce exhaust pollutants
and/or damage thethree-way catalyst.
. Keep yourengine tunedup.Malfunctions in
the ignition, fuelinjection, orelectrical
systems maycause overrich fueltoflow into
the three-way catalyst,causingitto over-
heat. Donot keep driving ifthe engine
misfires, orifnoticeable lossofperformance
or other unusual operating conditions are
detected. Havethevehicle inspected
promptly byaNISSAN dealer.
. Avoid driving withanextremely lowfuel
level. Running outoffuel could cause the
engine tomisfire, damaging thethree-way
catalyst.
. Donot race theengine whilewarming itup.
. Donot push ortow your vehicle tostart the
engine.
TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM
(TPMS) (ifequipped)
GUID-B1 F2EA48-882 1-41F0-BDC2-29C235 73CEE3
Each tire, including thespare (ifprovided) ,should be
checked monthlywhencoldandinflated tothe inflation
pressure recommended bythe vehicle manufacturer
on the vehicle placard ortire inflation pressure label.(If
your vehicle hastires ofadifferent sizethan thesize
indicated onthe vehicle placard ortire inflation
pressure label,youshould determine theproper tire
inflation pressure forthose tires.)
As anadded safetyfeature, yourvehicle hasbeen
equipped withaTire Pressure Monitoring System
(TPMS) thatilluminates alow tirepressure telltale
when oneormore ofyour tiresissignificantly under-
inflated. Accordingly ,when thelow tirepressure telltale
illuminates, youshould stopandcheck yourtiresas

soon aspossible, andinflate themtothe proper
pressure. Drivingonasignificantly under-inflated tire
causes thetiretooverheat andcanlead totire failure.
Under-inflation alsoreduces fuelefficiency andtire
tread life, and may affect thevehicle's handlingand
stopping ability.
Please notethattheTPMS isnot asubstitute for
proper tiremaintenance, anditis the driver's respon-
sibility tomaintain correcttirepressure, evenifunder-
inflation hasnotreached thelevel totrigger illumination
of the TPMS lowtirepressure telltale.
Y our vehicle hasalso been equipped withaTPMS
malfunction indicatortoindicate whenthesystem is
not operating properly. The TPMS malfunction indica-
tor iscombined withthelow tirepressure telltale.
When thesystem detects amalfunction, thetelltale will
flash forapproximately oneminute andthen remain
continuously illuminated.Thissequence willcontinue
upon subsequent vehiclestart-ups aslong asthe
malfunction exists.Whenthemalfunction indicatoris
illuminated, thesystem maynotbeable todetect or
signal lowtirepressure asintended. TPMSmalfunc-
tions mayoccur foravariety ofreasons, including the
installation ofreplacement oralternate tiresorwheels
on the vehicle thatprevent theTPMS fromfunctioning
properly .Always checktheTPMS malfunction telltale
after replacing oneormore tiresorwheels onyour
vehicle toensure thatthereplacement oralternate tires
and wheels allowtheTPMS tocontinue tofunction
properly .

. The TPMS doesnotmonitor thetirepressure of
the spare tire.
. The TPMS willactivate onlywhen thevehicle is
driven atspeeds above25km/h (16MPH) .Also,
this system maynotdetect asudden dropintire
pressure (forexample aflat tire while driving) .
. The lowtirepressure warninglightmaynot
automatically turnoffwhen thetirepressure is
adjusted. Afterthetireisinflated tothe recom-
mended pressure, resetthetire pressures regis-
tered inyour vehicle andthen drive thevehicle at
speeds above25km/h (16MPH) toactivate the
TPMS andturn offthe low tirepressure warning
light.
. Depending onachange inthe outside tempera-
ture, thelow tirepressure warninglightmay
illuminate evenifthe tire pressure hasbeen
adjusted properly.Adjust thetirepressure tothe
recommended COLDtirepressure againwhen
the tires arecold, andreset theTPMS.
. You can check thepressure ofall tires inthe
vehicle information display.(See ªTrip computerº
(P .2-34) .)
For additional information, seeªLow tirepressure
warning lightº(P.2-14) .
WARNING:
. Ifthe low tirepressure warninglightillumi-
nates whiledriving, avoidsudden steering
maneuvers orabrupt braking, reducevehicle
speed, pulloffthe road toasafe location
and stop thevehicle assoon aspossible.
Driving withunder-inflated tiresmayperma-
nently damage thetires andincrease the
likelihood oftire failure. Serious vehicle damage
couldoccurandmay lead toan
accident andcould result inserious personal
injury. Check thetire pressure forallfour
tires. Adjust thetire pressure tothe recom-
mended COLDtirepressure shownonthe
tire placard toturn thelow tirepressure
warning lightoff.Ifthe light stillilluminates
while driving afteradjusting thetire pres-
sure, atire may beflat. Ifyou have aflat tire,
replace itwith aspare tireassoon as
possible. (SeeªFlat tireº(P.6-2) forchanging
a flat tire.)
. After adjusting thetire pressure, besure to
reset theTPMS. Otherwise, theTPMS will
not warn oflow tirepressure.
. When aspare tireismounted orawheel is
replaced, theTPMS willnotfunction andthe
low tirepressure warninglightwillflash for
approximately 1minute. Thelight willre-
main onafter the1minute. Contact a
NISSAN dealerassoon aspossible fortire
replacement and/orsystem resetting.
. Replacing tireswiththose notoriginally
specified byNISSAN couldaffect theproper
operation ofthe TPMS.
. Donot inject anytireliquid oraerosol tire
sealant intothetires, asthis may cause a
malfunction ofthe tire pressure sensors.
CAUTION:
. The TPMS maynotfunction properly when
the wheels areequipped withtirechains or
the wheels areburied insnow.
. Do not place metalized filmorany metal
parts (antenna, etc.)on the windows. This
may cause poorreception ofthe signals
