. Do not run thebelt behind yourback or
under yourarm.Always routetheshoulder
belt over your shoulder andacross your
chest. Thebelt should beaway fromyour
face andneck, butnotfalling offyour
shoulder. Seriousinjurymayoccur ifaseat
belt isnot worn properly.
. No modifications oradditions shouldbe
made bythe user which willeither prevent
the seat beltadjusting devicesfromoperat-
ing toremove slack,orprevent theseat belt
assembly frombeing adjusted toremove
slack.
. Care should betaken toavoid contamina-
tion ofthe webbing withpolishes, oilsand
chemicals, andparticularly batteryacid.
Cleaning maysafely becarried outusing
mild soap andwater. Thebelt should be
replaced ifwebbing becomes frayed,con-
taminated ordamaged.
. Allseat beltassemblies includingretractors
and attaching hardware shouldbeinspected
after anycollision byaNISSAN dealer.
NISSAN recommends thatallseat belt
assemblies inuse during acollision be
replaced unlessthecollision wasminor
and thebelts show nodamage andcontinue
to operate properly. Seatbeltassemblies
not inuse during acollision shouldalsobe
inspected and,when necessary, replacedif
either damage orimproper operation is
noted.
. Itis essential toreplace theentire assembly
after ithas been worninasevere impact
even ifdamage tothe assembly isnot
obvious. .
Once thepre-tensioner seatbelthasacti-
vated, itcannot bereused. Itmust be
replaced togetherwiththeretractor. Contact
a NISSAN dealer.
. Removal andinstallation ofthe pre-ten-
sioner seatbeltsystem components should
be done byaNISSAN dealer.

properly. Theshoulder beltmay come too

booster seatshould raisethechild sothat theshoulder
belt isproperly positioned acrossthetop, middle
portion ofthe shoulder andthelapbelt islow onthe
hips. Thebooster seatshould alsofitthe vehicle seat.
Once thechild hasgrown sothat theshoulder beltis
no longer onornear theface orneck ofthe child, use
the shoulder beltwithout thebooster seat.Inaddition,
there aremany types ofchild restraint systems
available forlarger children thatshould beused for
maximum protection.

While pulling upthe electronic parking
brake switch during driving, theparking
brake isapplied andachime sounds. The
electronic parkingbrakewarning lightinthe
meter andinthe parking brakeswitch
illuminate. Thisdoes notindicate amalfunc-
tion. Theelectronic parkingbrakewarning
light inthe meter andinthe parking brake
switch turnoffwhen theparking brakeis
released.
. When pulling theelectronic parkingbrake
switch upwith theignition switchinthe
ªOFFº orªACCº position, theparking brake
switch indicator lightwillcontinue toillumi-
nate forashort period oftime.
When towing atrailer (forAustralia, New

Depending onthe weight ofthe vehicle andtrailer and
the steepness ofthe slope, theremaybeatendency
for the vehicle tomove backwards whenstarting froma
standstill. Whenthisoccurs, youcan usetheparking
brake switch inthe same wayasaconventional lever
type parking brake.
Before starting onsloping roadswhentowing atrailer,
be sure toread thefollowing toprevent thevehicle
from moving backward unintentionally .
1. Pull and hold theparking brakeswitch while
depressing theaccelerator pedalandengaging
the clutch (MTmodels) .
2. Release theparking brakeswitch assoon asthe
engine isdelivering enoughtorquetothe wheels.

3. Tighten thewheel nutsalternately andevenly in
the sequence illustrated(

4. Lower thevehicle slowlyuntilthetire touches the
ground.
5. Tighten thewheel nutssecurely ,with thewheel

Tighten thewheel nutstothe specified torque
with atorque wrench assoon aspossible.
Wheel nuttightening torque:
108 N´m (11kg-m, 80ft-lb)
The wheel nutsmust bekept tightened to
specification atall times. Itis recommended
that thewheel nutsbetightened tospecification
at each lubrication interval.
WARNING:
Retighten thewheel nutswhen thevehicle has
been driven for1,000 km(600 miles) (alsoin
cases ofaflat tire, etc.).
For models equipped withTirePressure
Monitoring System(TPMS)

pressure, thedisplay ofthe tire pressures (if

show higher pressure thantheCOLD tire
pressure afterthevehicle hasbeen driven more
than 1.6km(1mile) .This isbecause thetire
pressurizes asthe tire temperature rises.This
does notindicate asystem malfunction.
