. Ifthe 4WD mode switch isoperated whilemaking
a turn, accelerating ordecelerating, orifthe
ignition switchisturned offwhile inthe AUT Oor
L OCK mode, youmay feelajolt. This isnormal.
. The oiltemperature ofpower trainparts will
increase ifthe vehicle iscontinuously operated
under conditions wherethedifference inrotation
between thefront andrear wheels islarge (wheel
slip) ,such aswhen driving thevehicle onrough
roads through sandormud orwhen freeing a
stuck vehicle. Inthese cases, theª4WD High
T emp. Stopvehicleº warning appears andthe
4WD mode changes tothe 2WD mode toprotect
the power trainparts. Ifyou stop driving withthe
engine idlinginasafe place andwait until the
ª4WD HighTemp. Stopvehicleº warning disap-
pears, the4WD returns tothe mode previously
selected.
. Brake distance inthe 4WD mode isthe same as
2WD.
CAUTION:
. Depending onthe driving condition, the4WD
mode mayautomatically changefrom2WD
to 4WD even when the2WD mode is
selected. Ifthis occurs whiledriving, the
4WD mode indicator lightwillnotilluminate.
. Donot start theengine withthe4WD mode
switch inany mode inthe following cases:
Ð when thevehicle isplaced onafree-
roller orjacking upthe vehicle withthe
front tiresraised andtherear tires on
the ground.

your vehicle.
. The jack, which isprovided withyour vehicle,
is designed onlytolift your vehicle duringa
tire change. Donot use thejack provided
with your vehicle onother vehicles.
. Never jackupthe vehicle atalocation other
than thejack -uppoint thatisspecified.
. Never liftthe vehicle morethannecessary.
. Never useblocks onorunder thejack.
. Never startorrun theengine whilethe
vehicle ison the jack. Thevehicle maymove
suddenly, andthismay cause anaccident.
. Never allowpassengers toremain inthe
vehicle whilethetire isoff the ground. .
Besure toread thecaution labelattached to
the jack body before using.
1. Place thejack directly underthejack-up point as
illustrated sothat thetop ofthe jack contacts the
vehicle atthe jack-up point.
The jack should beplaced onfirm level
ground.
2. Align thejack head between thetwo notches
located atthe jack-up point ofeither thefront or
the rear section.
3. Fitthe groove ofthe jack head between the
notches asshown.
4. Loosen eachwheel nut,counterclockwise, oneor
two turns withthewheel nutwrench.
Do not remove thewheel nutsuntil thetire is
off the ground.
5. Carefully raisethevehicle untiltheclearance
between thetireand ground isachieved.
6. To lift the vehicle, securely holdthejack lever and
rod with both hands andturn thejack lever.
