ACCESS
ELECTRONIC ENGINE IMMOBILISER
This locks the engine management
system as soon as the ignition has
been switched off and therefore pre-
vents starting of the vehicle by any-
one who does not have the key.
The ignition key has an electronic chip
which has a special code. When the ig-
nition is switched on, the code must be
recognised for starting to be possible.
In the event of a malfunction, your ve-
hicle will not start.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a
qualifi ed workshop.
Changing the remote control
battery
To change the battery, remove the
screw then unclip the housing using
a coin inserted at the ring.
Battery CR2016/3 volts.
If the remote control does not work
after the battery has been changed,
reinitialise it.
Reinitialising the remote
control
Following replacement of the remote
control battery or in the event of a re-
mote control fault, it may be necessary
to reinitialise the system.

 Switch off the ignition.

 Switch the ignition on again.

 Press one of the remote control
buttons immediately for a few
seconds.

 Switch off the ignition and remove
the key from the ignition lock.
The remote control is now working
again.
If the fault persists, contact a PEUGEOT
dealer or a qualifi ed workshop.
Driving with the doors locked
may make access to the pas-
senger compartment by the
emergency services more
diffi cult in an emergency.
As a safety measure (with children
on board), remove the key from the
ignition when leaving the vehicle,
even for a short time.
Do not make any modifi cations to the
electronic immobiliser system.
Do not discard the remote
control batteries, they con-
tain metals which are harmful
to the environment.
Take them to a PEUGEOT dealership,
or to any other approved collection
point. The high frequency remote control is
a sensitive system; do not operate it
in your pockets as there is a risk that
it may unlock the vehicle without you
being aware of this.
Avoid pressing the buttons of your
remote control out of range of your
vehicle, you risk rendering it inopera-
tive. It would then have to be reini-
tialised.

CHECKS
CHECKS
Oil filter
Change the fi lter regularly, in accord-
ance with the servicing schedule. Only use products recom-
mended by PEUGEOT or
products of equivalent quality
and specifi cation.
In order to optimise the operation of
units as important as the braking sys-
tem, PEUGEOT selects and offers
specifi c products.
In order to avoid damaging the elec-
trical units, high pressure washing
to clean the engine compartment is
strictly prohibited.
To check the main levels and certain
components, in accordance with the
manufacturer's servicing schedule,
refer to the pages of the servicing
booklet which correspond to your ve-
hicle's engine.
Battery
At the start of winter, have your bat-
tery checked by a PEUGEOT dealer
or a qualifi ed workshop.
Air filter and passenger
compartment filter
Have the fi lter elements replaced regu-
larly.
If you drive in dusty conditions,
change them twice as often.
Brake pads
Brake pad wear depends on the style
of driving, in particular for vehicles
which are used in town, over short
distances. Disc and drum wear
For information on disc and drum
surface wear, contact a PEUGEOT
dealer or a qualifi ed workshop.
Manual gearbox
Have the level checked in accord-
ance with the manufacturer's servicing
schedule.
It may be necessary to check
the thickness of the pads,
even between services. Parking brake
Where the parking brake travel is too
great or there is a reduction in the
performance of the system, the park-
ing brake should be adjusted, even
between services.
Have the system checked by a
PEUGEOT dealer or a qualifi ed
workshop.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION
TOWING THE VEHICLE

Your vehicle can only be towed at
the front.
Lifting (2 wheels only on
the road)

Never use the radiator crossmember.
Towing with fours wheels on the
road must be carried out at very low
speed over a very short distance (in
accordance with the legislation in
force).
Without lifting
(4 wheels on the road)
The removable towing eye is stored
in the spare wheel, under the boot
carpet.

 press the lower part of the cover
in order to take hold of the upper
part,

 pull the cover to unclip it,

 screw in the towing eye fully. Place the gear lever in
position
N for the "2 Tronic"
gearbox.
FITTING ROOF BARS
Please refer to national legi-
slation in order to comply with
the regulations concerning the
transportation of objects which
are longer than the vehicle.
Vehicles fitted with a manual
gearbox
In the case of vehicles fi tted with a
manual gearbox, the gear lever must
be in the neutral position.
Failure to observe this special
condition may result in damage to
certain braking components and the
absence of braking assistance the
next time the engine is started.
When fi tting transverse roof bars,
use the accessories recommended
by PEUGEOT and follow the manu-
facturer’s fi tting instructions.
For more information, contact a
PEUGEOT dealer or a qualifi ed
workshop.

Maximum weight authorised on
the bars, for a loading height not
exceeding 40 cm (except bicycle
carrier): 50 kg.

If the height exceeds 40 cm, adapt
the speed of the vehicle to the profi le
of the road to avoid damaging the
roof bars.
General recommendations
Observe the legislation in
force in your country.
Ensure that the weight of the towing
vehicle is higher than that of the
towed vehicle.
The driver must stay at the wheel of
the towed vehicle.
Driving on motorways and fast roads
is prohibited when towing.
When towing a vehicle with all four
wheels on the ground, always use an
approved towing bar; rope and straps are prohibited.
When towing a vehicle with the
engine off, there is no longer any
power assistance for braking or
steering.
In the following cases, you must
always call on a professional recovery
service:
- vehicle broken down on a motorway or fast road,
- when it is not possible to put the gearbox into neutral, unlock the
steering, or release the parking
brake,
- towing with only two wheels on the ground,
- where there is no approved towing bar available...
In all other cases, your vehicle must
be transported on a trailer.
