Charging the battery using
a battery charger
)Disconnect the battery from the vehicle.
)Follow the instructions for use provided by
the manufacturer of the charger.)Connect the battery star ting with thenegative terminal (-).)Check that the terminals and connectorsare clean. If they are covered with sulphate (whitish or greenish deposit), remove themand clean them.

The batteries contain harmful substances such as sulphuric acidand lead. They must be disposed of inaccordance with regulations and mustnot, in any circumstances, be discarded with household waste.
Take used remote control batteries andvehicle batteries to a special collection point.
Do not push the vehicle to star t the engine if you have a 2 Tronic gearbox.

It is advisable to disconnect the batteryif the vehicle is to be left unused for more than one month.

Do not reverse the polarity and use onlya 12 V charger.
Do not disconnect the terminals whilethe engine is running.
Do not charge the batteries withoutdisconnecting the terminals first.

Towing the vehicle
)
Install the towing bar. )
Put the gear lever into neutral (position Nfor the 2 Tronic gearbox).
)Take the removable towing eye stowed in
the spare wheel, under the boot carpet.
)Unclip the plastic cover. )Fully screw in the towing eye.

General
recommendations
Observe the legislation in force in your country.Ensure that the weight of the towing vehicle is higher than that of the towedvehicle. The driver must stay at the wheel of thetowed vehicle. Driving on motorways and fast roads is prohibited when towing. When towing a vehicle with all four wheels on the ground, always use an approved towing bar; rope and strapsare prohibited. When towing a vehicle with the engine off, there is no longer any power assistance for braking or steering. In the following cases, you must always call on a professional recovery service:- vehicle broken down on a motor way
or fast road,- when it is not possible to put the gearbox into neutral, unlock thesteering, or release the parkingbrake,- towing with only two wheels on theground, - where there is no approved towingbar available...

Your vehicle can only be towed at the front.
Never use the radiator crossmember.
To w i ng with fours wheels on theroad must be carried out at very low speed over a very shor t distance (in accordance with the legislation in force).
In all other cases, your vehicle must betranspor ted on a trailer.

Failure to obser ve this instruction maylead to damage to cer tain components (braking, transmission, ...) and the absence of braking assistance when theengine is started.
)
Unlock the steering by turning the key to
the first position and release the parkingbrake. ) Switch on the hazard warning lamps onboth vehicles.

Checks

2 Tronic gearbox

Brake pads
Unless other wise indicated, check thesecomponents in accordance with the servicingbooklet and according to your engine.
Other wise, have them checked by a PEUGEOT
dealer or a qualified workshop.
12 V battery
Oil filter
Manual gearbox
Only use products recommended byPEUGEOT or products of equivalent quality and specification.
In order to optimise the operation of units as impor tant as the brakingsystem, PEUGEOT selects and offers very specific products. To avoid damaging the electrical units, the use of a high pressure washer in the engine compar tment is strictlyprohibited.
Air filter and passenger compartment filter

Brake disc wear
Parkin
g brake
The battery does not require any maintenance.
However, check that the terminals are clean
and correctl
y tightened, particularly in summer and winter.
When carrying out work on the battery, refer to the "Practical information" section for details of the precautions
to be taken before disconnecting the battery and following its reconnection.

Refer to the ser vicing booklet for
details of the replacement intervals
for these components.
Dependin
g on the environment (e.g.
dusty atmosphere) and the use of the vehicle (e.g. city driving), replace them twice as often if necessary.y A clogged passenger compar tment filter mayhave an adverse effect on the performance
of the air conditioning system and generate undesirable odours.
Replace the oil
filter each time theengine oil is changed.
Refer to the ser vicing booklet for
details of the replacement inter val for
this component.
The gearbox does not require any maintenance (no oil change).
Refer to the ser vicing booklet for the
details of the level checking intervalfor this component.
The
2 Tr o n i c gearbox does not require
any maintenance (no oil change).
Refer to the servicing booklet for
details of the checking inter val for
this unit.
Brake wear depends on the st
yle
of driving, par ticularly in the case
of vehicles used in town, over shor t
distances. It ma
y be necessary to
have the condition of the brakes checked
, even between vehicle services.
Unless there is a leak in the circuit, a drop in
the brake fluid level indicates that the brake pads are worn. For information on checkin
g brake
disc wear, contact a PEUGEOT
dealer or a qualified workshop.

I
f excessive travel or a loss of effectiveness of this system is
noticed, the parking brake must be checked, even between two services.
Checking this system must be done by a
PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.
