SAFETY
-
ANTI-LOCK BRAKING
SYSTEM (ABS) AND
ELECTRONIC BRAKE FORCE
DISTRIBUTION (EBFD)
The ABS, in conjunction with the
electronic brake force distribution,
increases the stability and manoeu-
vrability of your vehicle on braking,
in particular on poor or slippery road
surfaces.
When changing wheels (tyres and
rims), make sure that these are ap -
proved.
The anti-lock braking system comes
into operation automatically when
there is a risk of wheel lock.
EMERGENCY BRAKING
ASSISTANCE SYSTEM
In an emergency, this system ena -
bles the optimum braking pressure to
be reached more quickly, thus reduc -
ing the stopping distance.
It is triggered by the speed at which the
brake pedal is activated. The effect of
this is a reduction in the resistance of
the pedal and an increase in braking
eficiency.
When braking in an emergency,
press irmly without releasing the
pressure.
Depending on the force of the decel-
eration, the hazard warning lights are
switched on automatically. They are
switched off automatically on accel -
eration.
When this warning light
comes on, accompanied by
a buzzer and a message, it
indicates that there is a mal-
function of the ABS, which can cause
a loss of control of the vehicle when
braking. When this warning light
comes on, connected to the
STOP
warning light, accom -
panied by a buzzer and a
message, it indicates that there is a
malfunction of the electronic brake
force distribution, which can cause
a loss of control of the vehicle when
braking.
Stop immediately.
In both cases, consult a PEUGEOT
dealer.
Normal operation of the ABS may
make itself felt by slight vibrations
of the brake pedal.
In emergency braking, press
very irmly without releasing the
pressure.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION
108 -
Fitting/removing the mat
When removing the mat on the driver’s
side, push the seat as far back as pos -
sible and remove the ixings.
When reitting, position the mat correct -
ly on the pin and clip the ixings. Check
that the mat is secured correctly.
To prevent the mat from becoming
caught under the pedals:
- only use mats suited to the ixings already present in the
vehicle. It is imperative that
these ixings are used.
- never it one mat on top of another. - Clean off bird drop-
pings, resinous depos -
its, tar stains and grease
marks as soon as pos-
sible; (these all contain
substances which can
cause serious damage
to the paintwork).
- Do not use a dry or abrasive cloth or detergent or solvent
products to clean the double
lens, complex surface head -
lamps as they are itted with
polycarbonate glass covered
in a protective inish.
- Do not use petrol, oil or cloth stain removers to clean the
bodywork and plastic parts of
your vehicle.
- To prevent the development of bodywork corrosion as a result
of accidental damage (stone
chips, scratches, etc.) have
them repaired swiftly.
BODYWORK MAINTENANCE
To preserve the paintwork and the
plastic trim on your vehicle, we recom -
mend that you wash them regularly.
- by hand: there are no speciic precautions to take;
- using an automatic car wash: re -
peated use of poorly maintained
automatic car washes can lead
to the appearance of microscopic
scratches which give the paint -
work a matt appearance (espe -
cially visible on dark colours);
- using a high pressure washer: always follow the recommenda -
tions on the equipment (pres-
sure and spraying distance).
If there are damaged areas on the
vehicle (painted bumpers or head-
lamps), it is not recommended to
direct the high pressure jet onto
them. Wash these areas by hand.
Also avoid the entry of water into
the locks.
For all questions relating to the main-
tenance of your vehicle, contact an
approved dealer who can advise you
on quality products selected by our
departments.
