ELECTRONIC IMMOBILISER This locks the engine control sys- tem a few moments after the igni-tion has been switched off andtherefore prevents starting of thevehicle by anyone who does not
have the key. Operation Each key has an electronic chip, which has a special code. When the ignition is switched on, the key code is recognised andstarting is possible. If the key does not have a code
or has a different code from that
stored in the system memory, thevehicle will not start.Additional key
You can store up to 5 keys in the
memory. If you require an additional key or
wish to change a faulty key, you
must visit a PEUGEOT dealerwith the confidential card and allthe keys in your possession. Key in ignition If you leave the key in the igni- tion, a buzzer reminds you of this
when opening the driver's door.
Confidential card This contains the identification combination, which is required ifany work is carried out on the sys-
tem by a PEUGEOT dealer. Thiscombination is concealed by afilm, which must not be removedunless required. Keep your card in a safe place, never in your vehicle.

STARTING The four positions of the key in the ignition:
STOP position:
the ignition is off.

operates the starter. Steering lock Before starting, unlock the steer-
ing if necessary, by gently turning the steering wheel at the
same time as you turn the key. It is advisable to press the clutch pedal while operating the starter

THE KEYS The keys operate independently the locks for the doors, the boot(opening), the fuel filler flap, thesteering lock and the glove boxas well as operating the passen-ger air bag disarming switch. Central locking
From the driver's door, the keys allow you to:
Ð simultaneously lock the doors
and the boot,
Ð simultaneously unlock the doors alone.
You can only unlock the boot by using the boot lock. The remote control Pressing button A
allows you to lock the doors and bootby remote control. This is confirmed by the fixed lighting ofthe direction indica-tors for approxi-mately two sec-onds. Pressing button Ballows you to
unlock the doors alone. This is confirmed by the rapid flashing of the direc-tion indicators for approxi-mately two seconds.
Never
raceacoldengine.
Never run the engine in anenclosed space.
Do not make any modica-tions to the steering lock.

Instrument panel display After switching on the ignition, three functions are shown in succession:
Ð service indicator (see corresponding section),
Ð engine oil level indicator,Ð total distance recorder/total and trip distances.Note:
the total and trip distances are displayed for 30 seconds when the ignition
is switched off, on opening the driver's door, as well as on locking and unlocking the vehicle. Engine oil level When the ignition is switched on, the engine oil level is indicated for approximately 10 seconds, after the servicing information.
Maximum Check the level using the dipstick to confirm whether the level indicated is correct; a surplus ofoil can cause damage to the engine.
Consult a PEUGEOT dealer without delay. Minimum Check the level with the dipstick and top it up. The level indicated is only correct if the vehiclehas been on stable, level ground, with the enginestopped, for 10 minutes. Oil level gauge fault The 6 segments flash to indicate a fault in the oil level gauge. There is a risk the engine will be damaged.
Consult a PEUGEOT dealer.
Engine oil temperature indicator light When the engine is running, it indi- cates the oil temperature:
Ð When the needle is in zone
(C), the
temperature is correct,
Ð When the needle is in zone (D), the
temperature is too high. To lower the oil temperature, reduce yourspeed.

Changing the battery of the remote control
Warning that the battery is flat is given by an audible signal accompanied bythe message
''Remote control bat-
tery low'' on the multifunction display.
To replace the battery, remove thescrew then unclip the casing using acoin at the ring (CR 2016/3 volt battery). If the remote control does not work after the battery has been changed,reprogramme the remote control.
THE KEYS The keys allow you to
independently
operate the locks on the doors, the tailgate (opening), the fuel filler cap,the steering lock, the glove box andthe passenger air bag disarming con-trol and to switch on the ignition. Central locking From the driver's door the keys allow you:
Ðto lock or unlock the doors and tail-
gate simultaneously,
Ð to unlock simultaneously just thedoors.
Unlocking the boot is possible only
by using the boot key. If one of the doors is open, the central locking does not work. The remote control This fulfils the same functions as the
key, at a distance. Locking Pressing button
Alocks the vehicle by
remote control. This is displayed by the continuouslighting of the direction indicators forapproximately two seconds. Unlocking Pressing button Bunlocks just the
doors. This is shown by the rapid flashing ofthe direction indicators. Notes: if the vehicle is locked and the
unlocking control is pressed inadver- tently without the doors being openedwithin 30 seconds, the vehicle will lock
again automatically.
Avoid pressing the buttons of your remote control out of range of your
vehicle. You risk causing it not to workand the remote control would have tobe reprogrammed. Locating your car
To locate your car in a car park, if you have locked it: 
press button A, the courtesy lights
come on and the direction indica- tors flash for a few seconds.
Key in ignition
A buzzer sounds on opening the dri-
ver's door, if the key has been left inthe ignition.
Programming the remote control  Switch off the ignition.
 Switch the ignition on again.
 Press button A.
 Switch off the ignition and remove the remote control key from the
ignition lock. The remote control isnow working again.

Deadlocking* Deadlocking of the doors is an additional security device. It disables the exterior and interior door controls. There are two methods of deadlocking:
Ð with the ignition key, from the driver's door;
Ð with the remote control, which has two buttons:A. deadlocking/locking of the doors and boot lid.
B. unlocking.
Using the ignition keyDeadlocking , turn the key towards the rear of the vehicle.
Locking , within 5 seconds of deadlocking, turn the key again towards the rear of
the vehicle.Unlocking , turn the key towards the front of the vehicle. Using the remote control Deadlocking
, press button Aonce to
deadlock the vehicle. This is confirmed by fixed lighting of the direction indicators for approxima-tely two seconds.
Press button A again within 5
seconds of deadlocking; this changes
deadlocking to normal locking. This isconfirmed by fixed lighting of the direc-tion indicators for approximately twoseconds. Unlocking Press button Bto unlock the vehicle.
This is confirmed by the rapid flashing of the direction indicators.
To unlock the boot lid Place the ignition key in the boot lock and turn it anti-clockwise.

CENTRAL LOCKING Pressing button Aallows you to lock
or unlock the doors from the inside. Note: on vehicles fitted with this
control, the door handles only operate the door concerned.

Important After deadlocking the vehicle, the doors can only be unlocked from theoutside of the vehicle; if anyone isinside the vehicle, it is impossible tounlock the vehicle from the inside. If the battery is disconnected:
Ð the deadlocking remains activated
Ð it is possible to open one of the front doors using the ignition key, but the key only opens the corres-
ponding door.
It is dangerous to activate the deadlocking if anyoneis inside the vehicle Make a careful note of the
number of the key. If the key is lost or stolen you will
then be able to obtain a new key. Check that the batteries are not flat.

The alarm Setting and deactivating the alarm system Switching off the siren. The alarm completes the security
equipment for your vehicle. It offerstwo types of protection. Ðexternal protection: when it is set,
the alarm sounds if one of the
doors, the boot lid or the bonnet is opened;
Ð internal protection: when it is set,
the alarm sounds if the sensors
detect air movement in the pas-senger compartment (a brokenwindow) or movement within the
car.
Note: the internal protection does not
operate when the vehicle roof is openor is not closed properly (e.g. catchesunlocked). The alarm also has an anti-tamper function. If there is an attempt to tamper with the wires to the siren, control unit or
the battery, the siren sounds and thedirection indicators light. Setting the alarm (external and internal protection)
Switch the ignition off and get out of the vehicle. Deadlock the vehicle.The doors lock.The direction indicators light for two seconds. The red light on the switch flashes once a second.
5 seconds later, internal protection is set.
45 seconds later, external protection is set. Note:
when the alarm is triggered, the
siren sounds for thirty seconds. After the thirty seconds it stops, but thealarm remains set.
Warning:
When the alarm is triggered, if a door, the boot lid, roof or bonnet are not clo-
sed correctly, the siren sounds for amoment. If the vehicle is closed cor-rectly in the following 45 seconds, thealarm is activated and the directionindicators remain on for two seconds.In all cases, the alarm is activatedafter 45 seconds. Disarming the alarm(internal and external protection) Press the release button of the remo-
te control key. The doors unlock.The direction indicators flash for two seconds. The red light on the switch goes out. Note:
if the warning light continues to
flash after de-activation of the alarm, it is a sign that the alarm has been trig-
gered. The flashing will stop when theignition is switched on.

Emergency cut-off (If the remote control is notworking)
Unlock the doors with the key.
Open the door.The alarm is triggered.
Ð Turn on the ignition.
Ð The locking system recognises thekey.
Ð The siren stops and the alarm is disarmed. Selection of the type of protection
To set the alarm to external
protection only. If you want to leave a window partially open, or a pet inside the vehicle, youneed to select external protection only:
Ð Switch off the ignition.
Ð Within the next ten seconds, press
the internal protection button 1until
the warning light comes on conti-
nuously. Get out of the vehicle.
Ð Deadlock the vehicle.
Ð The doors lock.
Ð The direction indicators light for two seconds.
Ð The red light on the switch flashes once a second.
To de-activate external protection only Press the release button on the remo- te control. The doors unlock.The direction indicators flash for two seconds. The red light on the switch goes out. To lock the vehicle without setting the alarm It is the remote control which sets the alarm. Therefore, to lock the vehicle without setting the alarm: use the
key.
To recharge or replace the battery:
Ð Turn on the ignition.
Ð You have 10 seconds after turning
on the ignition to press the internal protection switch 1and hold it down
for two seconds.
Ð The warning light flashes rapidly for three seconds.
Ð You can now disconnect the battery. After reconnecting the battery:
Ð Deadlock, then unlock the vehicle using the remote control.
The alarm will be set after the next deadlocking operation.

key from Ato C) or the remote control.
Unlock it using the key (turn the key

The lighting is controlled by open- ing the boot.
Locking from the inside
To lock, press button

Locking one of the front doors locks the doors and the boot. Unlocking from the inside
To unlock, pull button Aor the handle.
''Door open'' alert
With the engine running an audible
signal and a message or diagram locating the problem on the multifunc-tion screen, warns you that a door isnot properly closed. Also, when the vehicle is moving ,
with the courtesy light button in the "lighting on opening a door" position,the courtesy light flashes.
