Handbrake, low brake fluid level and fault inElectronic Brake ForceDistribution system
warning light
Linked with the central STOP warning light. Indicates either:
Ð that the handbrake is on or has not been released correctly,
Ð an excessive drop in the brake fluid level (if the light remains lit even with the handbrake released),
Ð a fault in the Electronic Brake Force Distribution system if lit simultane-
ously with the ABS warning light.
Stop immediately.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer.
INSTRUMENTS AND CONTROLS
A permantly lit warning light or one that flashes, with the engine run-ning, indicates an operating fault inthe relevant unit. Some warninglights may be accompanied by anaudible signal and a message onthe multifunction screen. Do notignore this warning: contact a PEUGEOT dealer as soon as possi-
ble. If the Central STOP warninglight comes on when you are dri-ving, stop immediately where it issafe to do so.
Anti-lock brake system (ABS) warning light This comes on for 3 seconds
each time the ignition is switched on. If the warning light remains on or comes on above 12 km/h, this indi-
cates an ABS malfunction.
However, the vehicle retains conven- tional servo-assisted braking. Lighting of this warning light is accom- panied by an audible signal and themessage "ABS fault" on the multi-
function display.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer.
Engine oil pressure warning light
Linked with the central STOP
warning light.
Stop immediately.This warning light indicates either:
Ð insufficient oil pressure,
Ð lack of oil in the lubrication circuit. Top up the oil level.
Ð oil temperature which is too high. Switching on of the warning light is accompanied by an audible signal.
To lower the oil temperature, reduceyour speed.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer.
Coolant temperature and low level warninglight
Linked with the central STOP warning light.
Stop immediately.Allow the engine to cool before top- ping up. The cooling system is pressurised.In the event of breakdown and to pre-
vent the risk of scalding , turn the
cap twice to allow the pressure to drop. Once the pressure has dropped, remove the cap and top up the level.

Central STOP warning light
Linked with the warning
light for the "engine oil pressure", the "coolant temperature and low levelgauge", the "handbrake", the "brakefluid low level" and ''electronic brakingsystem fault''. Stop immediately if the light is flashing with the engine running.

Hazard warning lights
Press the button, the direction indica- tors flash.
They can operate with the ignition off.
Automatic lighting of hazard warning lights*
When braking in an emergency, depending on the force of decelera-tion, the hazard warning lights come
on automatically. They switch off auto-matically the first time you accelerate.
It is also possible to switch them off by pressing the button.
* According to destination.Total distance recorder Briefly pressing button 1alternates
between the total distance and trip dis- tance displays.
To reset the trip recorder to zero, when it is displayed press and hold the resetbutton for just over 3 seconds.Lighting rheostat With the lights on, press the button to vary the intensity of the lighting on theinstrument panel and the multifunction
display. When the lighting reaches theminimum (or maximum) setting, releasethe button then press it again toincrease (or reduce) the brightness. As soon as the lighting is of the required brightness, release the button.

The control unit This is located in the glove box. 1.
CD-ROM eject button.
2. CD-ROM compartment.
3. ON indicator light indicates that the control unit is supplied
with power.
4. CD indicator light shows that there is a CD-ROM in theunit.
5. Remote control storage compartment. The last voice message recall control
Pressing the button on the endof the lights stalk allows the lastvoice message to be repeated,
or, if appropriate, a voice mes-sage to be heard and a moredetailed display of the approach-
ing landscape to be displayed.
The CD-ROM This contains all the mappingdata. It must be inserted with the printed face upwards.
Use only CD-ROMs approved by PEUGEOT.
The use of copied compact discs may cause faults.

Air distribution
Successive presses of this button allow the air flow to bedirected alternately to:
Ð the windscreen (demisting or de-icing),
Ð the windscreen and the footwells,
Ð the central and side vents and the footwells,
Ð the central and side vents.
7. Air intake Press this button to recycle
the interior air. Recirculation,
shown on the display, pre-vents the entry of unpleasant
odours and fumes from the outside.
Avoid prolonged recirculation of the
interior air. To do this, press again toreturn the system to automatic pro-cessing of the air intake.
4. Air conditioning
Press this button to stop the
air conditioning. The "ECO"symbol lights up. Press againto return to automatic opera-
tion of the air conditioning. The "A/C"symbol is displayed. 8. Switching the system off
The "OFF" button enablesthe entire system to be
switched off.
Temperature-related comfort is nolonger guaranteed. Pressing the "OFF", "AUTO" or "Visi-
bility" button again reactivates the
system with the values set before it
was switched off.
9. De-icing the rear window and the mirrors
Press this button to de-ice therear screen and the mirrors.The de-icing system switches
off automatically. It is possible
to stop the de-icing before it switches
off automatically by pressing the but-ton again. Note: this function is disarmed when
the roof is stored in the boot. Important precaution Operate the air conditioning system for 5 to 10 minutes, once or twice amonth, to keep it in perfect working
order. If the system does not produce cold
air, do not use it and contact your
PEUGEOT dealer.
Manual operation
If you wish you can make a different
choice from the one offered by the sys-
tem, by changing a setting. The otherfunctions will still be managed automat-
ically. Press the "AUTO" button to returnto completely automatic operation.
6. Air flowThe air flow may beincreased or reducedby pressing the buttons
+ or Ð respectively.
Note
The condensation created by the air condi- tioning causes a normal flow of water
under the vehicle when it stops. To preventcondensation on the inside of the vehicle in
cold or wet weather, you are advised toavoid using the "ECO" mode.

Note: to switch off the rear fog lamp
and the front fog lamps, turn the ring twice backwards. In good or rainy weather,both day and night, thefront fog lamps and therear fog lamp are dazzling
and are prohibited. Do not forget to switch them off when they are no longer needed.

AUTOMATIC SWITCHING ON OF LIGHTS Side lights and dipped beam head- lamps switch on automatically if thelight is poor and when the windscreen
wipers operate continuously.
They switch off when the light becomes bright enough or the wind-screen wipers stop. Note:
In foggy weather or in snow, the
brightness sensor can detect sufficient
light. As a consequence, the lights will
not come on automatically. This function is active when the vehi-
cle is supplied to the customer. To dis-arm or activate the function:
Ð Start with the key in the accessories
position (1st notch),
Ð Press the end of the stalk for more than four seconds.
Note: after the ignition is switched off
and depending on the brightness, the lights remain on for 45 seconds or untilthe vehicle is locked.
The brightness sensor, coupled with
the rain sensor, is located in the centre
of the windscreen, behind the interior
mirror. It is used for automatic switch-ing on of the lights. Operating check Activation Acivation of this function is accompanied by an audible signal and the message"Automatic lighting active''
on the mul-
tifunction display. Disarming Disarming of the function is accompa- nied by an audible signal. Note: the function is temporarily dis-
armed when the driver uses the manual lighting controls. If the brightness sensor does not function correctly , the system acti-
vates the function (the lights come on).The driver is alerted by an audible sig-nal, accompanied by the message
"Automatic switching on of lightsfaulty" .

Windscreen and headlamp wash
Pull the wiper stalk towards you. The windscreen wash, then the wind-screen wipers, operate for a specifiedtime. The windscreen and the headlamp
wash operate simultaneously for twoseconds,
only if the dipped beam
lights or the headlamps areswitched on.
Operation In position
1or 2, when the vehicle
stops, the windscreen wiper changes to a lower wiping speed, then resumesits initial speed when the vehicle startsagain. In the Intermittent position, the wiping
speed is proportional to the speed of the vehicle.
In the AUTO position, the wiping
speed is proportional to the heaviness of the rain fall.
When the ignition has been switched off for more than oneminute with the stalk in the wipeposition, it is necesary to reactivatethis function. To do this, move the
stalk to any position, then move it backto the required position.
