GENERAL FUNCTIONS
On/off
With the ignition key in
the accessories position
or with the ignition on,
press button A to switch

Anti-theft system
T h e a u d i o e q u i p m e n t i s c o d e d i n s u c h
a way that it can only operate in your
v e h i c l e . I t w o u l d n o t w o r k i f fi t t e d i n a n -
other vehicle.
The anti-theft system is automatic
and requires no action on your part.
Press button C to increase the audio
e q u i p m e n t v o l u m e o r b u t t o n B to de-
crease it.
A continuous press of buttons B and C
adjusts the volume gradually.
AUDIO SETTINGS
Press button G several
times in succession to
access the bass (BASS) ,
treble (TREB) , loudness
(LOUD) , fader (FAD) ,
balance (BAL) and auto-
matic volume correction
settings.
Exit from audio mode is automatic after
a few seconds without any action or by
pressing button G f o l l o w i n g c o n fi g u r a -
tion of the automatic volume correction. Adjusting the bass
When "BASS" is dis-
played, press button H or
I to change the setting.
- "BASS -9" for a min-
imum bass setting,
- "BASS 0" for a stan-
dard setting,
- "BASS +9" for a maximum bass
setting.
Adjusting the treble
When "TREB" is displayed, press but-
ton H or I to change the setting.
- "TREB -9" for a minimum treble set-
ting,
- "TREB 0" for a standard setting,
- "TREB +9" for a maximum treble
setting.
Adjusting the loudness (LOUD)
This function automatically emphasises
bass and treble tones.
Press button H or I to switch the func-
tion on or off.
Note: bass, treble and loudness settings
a r e s p e c i fi c t o e a c h s o u r c e . T h e y c a n b e
set differently for the radio or CD.
The audio equipment can operate for
30 minutes without the ignition being
switched on.

Adjusting the front/rear sound
distribution (Fader)
When "FAD" is displayed, press button H
or I .
Button H increases the volume in the
front.
Button I increases the volume in the
rear.
Adjusting the right/left sound
distribution (Balance)
When "BAL" is displayed, press button H

right.
Button I increases the volume on the

Automatic volume correction
This function automatically adjusts the
volume in relation to the speed of the
vehicle.

Notes on radio reception
Your car radio will be subject to phe-
nomena which do not affect domestic
radio sets. Both AM and FM reception is
subject to various forms of interference.

they are transmitted.
On AM, interference may be noticed
when passing under high voltage power

(mountains, hills, buildings, etc.), or of
being in an area which is not covered

Automatic station search

By continuing to press the button in the
direction selected, you will obtain con-
t i n u o u s s c r o l l i n g o f t h e f r e q u e n c i e s .

If the TA t r a f fi c i n f o r m a t i o n p r o g r a m m e
is selected, only stations broadcasting
this type of programme are selected.
S e a r c h i n g f o r a s t a t i o n t a k e s p l a c e fi r s t
in "LO" sensitivity (selection of the most
powerful transmitters) during scanning
of the waveband, then in "DX" sensitiv-
ity (selection of the weakest and most
distant transmitters).
To carry out a "DX" sensitivity search
directly, press button J or L twice. Manual station search
Press the
"MAN" button.

By continuing to press the button in the
direction selected, you will obtain con-
t i n u o u s s c r o l l i n g o f t h e f r e q u e n c y .
The scrolling stops as soon as the but-
ton is released.
Pressing the "MAN" button again re-
turns you to the automatic station
search.
Manual storing of stations
S e l e c t t h e s t a t i o n r e q u i r e d .
Press one of the buttons "1" to "6" for
more than two seconds.
The sound stops then becomes audible

Recalling stored stations
On each waveband, press one of the
buttons "1" to "6" b r i e fl y t o r e c a l l t h e
corresponding stored station.
Your radio automatically stores the 6 sta-
tions with the strongest signal on
FM .
These stations are stored on the FMast
waveband.
I f i t i s n o t p o s s i b l e t o fi n d s i x s t a t i o n s , t h e
unused memories remain unchanged.

RDS *
Using the RDS on FM
The RDS (Radio Data System) allows
you to continue listening to the same
s t a t i o n , w h a t e v e r f r e q u e n c y i t i s u s i n g
in the region you are travelling through. Press the "RDS" button
b r i e fl y t o s w i t c h t h e f u n c -
tion on or off.
The multifunction screen will indicate:
- "RDS" if the function is selected,
- "(RDS)" if the function is selected
but not available.
RDS station following
The display indicates the name of the sta-
tion selected. When the RDS is selected,
the radio searches continuously for the
transmitter which is broadcasting the se-
lected station with the best reception.
T r a f fi c i n f o r m a t i o n p r o g r a m m e ( T A ) Regional following mode (REG)
When they are part of a network, cer-
tain stations broadcast regional pro-
grammes in the various areas they
serve. The regional following mode
allows you to continue listening to the
same programme.
To do this, press the
"RDS" button for
more than two seconds to switch the
function on or off.
A n y t r a f fi c i n f o r m a t i o n a n n o u n c e m e n t
will be given priority, whatever source
you are listening to (radio, CD).
If you wish to interrupt a message,
press the
"TA" button; this switches the
function off.
N o t e : t h e v o l u m e o f t h e t r a f fi c i n f o r -
mation is independent of the volume
of normal radio listening. You can
adjust it using the volume button.
The setting will be stored and will be
used for subsequent messages.
Search by type of programme (PTY)
This allows you to listen to stations broad-
c a s t i n g a s p e c i fi c t y p e o f p r o g r a m m e
(News, Culture, Sport, Rock...). When FM is selected,
press the "TA" button for
more than two seconds
to switch the function on
or off. To search for a
PTY programme:
- select the PTY function,
- press button J or L b r i e fl y t o s c r o l l
down the list of the different types of
programme offered,
- when the programme of your choice is displayed, press button J or L for
more than two seconds to carry out
an automatic search (following an
automatic search, the PTY function
is switched off).
In PTY mode, the types of programme
can be stored. To do this, press the pre-
selection buttons "1" to "6" for more
than two seconds. Press the corre-
s p o n d i n g b u t t o n b r i e fl y t o r e c a l l t h e t y p e
of programme stored.
EON system
This system connects stations which
are part of the same network. It permits
the broadcasting of TA t r a f fi c i n f o r m a -
tion or of a PTY programme broadcast
by a station which is part of the same
network as the station to which you are
listening.
This service is available when you have
selected the TA t r a f fi c i n f o r m a t i o n p r o -
gramme or the PTY search by type of
programme.
Press the
"TA" button to
switch the function on or
off.
The multifunction screen will indicate:
- "TA" if the function is selected,
- "(TA)" if the function is selected but
not available.

COMPACT DISC MODE
Selecting CD mode

the current track or to select the previ-
ous track.
Accelerated play
Press and hold button J or L for for-
wards or backwards accelerated play.
Accelerated play stops as soon as the
button is released. Random play (RDM)
When the CD player is selected, press
button
N for two seconds. The tracks
will be played in random order. Pressing
button N again for two seconds returns
you to normal play.
The random play mode is switched
o f f e a c h t i m e t h e a u d i o e q u i p m e n t i s
switched off.
The use of copied compact discs
may cause malfunctions.
Insert circular compact discs only.
Press button
D to eject
the disc from the player.
After inserting a disc,
printed face uppermost,
the player starts auto-
matically.
If the player already contains a disc,
press button N .

TRAJECTORY CONTROL
SYSTEMS
Anti-skid regulation (ASR) and
electronic stability programme
(ESP)
Activation
These systems are activated automati-
cally each time the vehicle is started. They come into operation in
the event of a grip or trajectory
problem.
T h i s i s i n d i c a t e d b y fl a s h i n g o f
this warning lamp on the instru-
ment panel. Deactivation
In exceptional conditions (starting a ve-
hicle which is bogged down, stuck in
snow, on soft ground...), it may be ad-
visable to deactivate the ASR and ESP
systems, so that the wheels can move
freely and regain grip.
Press the "ESP OFF" button, located
on the left below the steering wheel.
Reactivation
These systems are reactivated automati-
cally each time the ignition is switched
back on.
Press the "ESP OFF" button again
to reactivate them manually.
If this warning lamp comes on in the instru-
ment panel and the indicator lamp on the
button comes on, this indicates that the
ASR and ESP systems are deactivated.
Operating fault
If this warning lamp comes on,
accompanied by an audible sig-
nal and a message on the multi-
function screen, this indicates a
malfunction of these systems.
Have the systems checked by a
PEUGEOT dealer.
The ESP/ASR systems offer ex-
ceptional safety in normal driving,
but this should not encourage the
driver to take extra risks or drive at
high speed.
The correct functioning of these
systems depends on observation
of the manufacturer's recommen-
dations regarding the wheels (tyres
and rims), the braking components,
the electronic components and the
PEUGEOT assembly and opera-
tion procedures.
After an impact, have these systems
checked by a PEUGEOT dealer.
The anti-skid regulation (also known as
Traction Control) optimises traction to
prevent skidding of the wheels, by act-
ing on the brakes of the driving wheels
and on the engine.
The electronic stability programme acts
on the brake of one or more wheels and
on the engine to keep the vehicle on the
trajectory required by the driver, within
the limits of the laws of physics.
