BONNET
Protects the components of the engine
and provides access for checking levels.

Push the exterior safety catch B
to
the left and raise the bonnet.

Unclip the stay C
from its housing.

Fix the stay in one of the two notch-
es to hold the bonnet open.



Closing

Take the stay out of the support
notch.

)
Clip the stay in its housing.

)
Lower the bonnet and release it at
the end of its travel.

)
Pull on the bonnet to check that it is
secured correctly.


Opening

The location of the interior release
lever prevents opening of the
bonnet while the front left door is
closed.
When the engine is hot, handle
the exterior safety catch and bon-
net stay with care (risk of burns).

Open the front left door.

RUNNING OUT OF FUEL
(DIESEL)
The fuel system must be primed if you
run out of fuel; refer to the engine com-
partment view on the "Diesel engine"
page.
If the engine does not start fi rst time,
don't keep trying.
Operate the priming pump again, then
the starter motor.

1.4 litre Turbo HDI engine

Fill the fuel tank with at least fi ve litres
of diesel.

)
Open the bonnet.

)
Operate the priming pump until it
hardens (it may be hard on the fi rst
press).

)
Operate the starter until the engine
starts.

)
Close the bonnet.



1.6 litre HDI engine



)
Fill the fuel tank with at least fi ve li-
tres of diesel.

)
Open the bonnet.

)
If necessary, unclip the styling cover
for access to the priming pump.

)
Squeeze and release the priming
pump repeatedly until resistance is
felt (there may be resistance at the
fi rst press).

)
Operate the starter until the engine
starts (if the engine does not start at
the fi rst attempt, wait around 15 sec-
onds before trying again).

)
If the engine does not start after a
few attempts, operate the priming
pump again then start the engine.

)
Clip the styling cover back in place.

)
Close the bonnet.

BATTERY
Procedure for charging your battery
when it is fl at or for starting the engine
using another battery.

Access to the battery
Starting using another battery

Connect the red cable to the posi-
tive terminal (+) of the fl at battery A
,
then to the positive terminal (+) of
the slave battery B
.
)
Connect one end of the green or
black cable to the negative terminal
(-) of the slave battery B
.

)
Connect the other end of the green
or black cable to the vehicle's offset
earth point.

)
Start the support vehicle.

)
Operate the starter of the broken
down vehicle and let the engine
run.

)
Wait until the engine returns to idle
and disconnect the cables.
The battery is located under the bonnet.
To gain access to it:


)
open the bonnet using the interior re-
lease lever, then the exterior safety
catch,

)
secure the bonnet stay,

)
lift the plastic cover on the (+) terminal.

IDENTIFICATION MARKINGS
Various visible markings for the identifi -
cation of your vehicle.
Wheels which are fi tted with 205/45
R17 and, only on SW Outdoor,
with 205/55 R16 tyres, cannot be
fi tted with snow chains. For more
information, contact a PEUGEOT
dealer.
If the infl ation pressures are too low,
this increases fuel consumption. The infl ation pressures must be
checked when the tyres are cold,
at least once a month.

A. Vehicle identifi cation
number
(VIN)

under the bonnet.

This number is etched on the bodywork
near the passenger compartment fi lter.
B. Visible VIN on the dashboard.

This number is indicated on a self-ad-
hesive label which is visible through the
windscreen.
C. VIN on the chassis.

This number is indicated on a self-de-
stroying label affi xed to the centre pillar,
near the driver's door striker.

D. Manufacturer's label.

This label is affi xed to the edge of the
door on the driver's side.
It bears the following information:


- the wheel rim and tyre sizes,

- the brands of tyre recommended by
the manufacturer,

- the associated infl ation pressures,

- the paint colour code.
