Front seat belts with pre-
tensioner and force limiter
In the event of a serious impact, the
pre-tensioning system instantly tight-
ens the seat belts irmly against the
bodies of the occupants.
The pre-tensioning seat belts are
armed when the ignition is on.
The force limiter reduces the pres-
sure of the seat belt on the body of
the occupant in the event of an ac-
cident.
* During the year.
Rear seat belts
The rear seats are all itted with a
three-point inertia reel seat belt.
The rear side seat belts have a force
limiter and may be itted with a pre-
tensioning inertia reel.
Before folding the seat back, pull the
strap and insert the seat belt buckle
into the clasp. This precaution will
ensure that each seat belt is in place
when the rear seats are lifted again.
Detection of fastening of the rear
seat belts*
When the ignition is switched on
,
if a rear passenger has not fastened
his seat belt, you are warned by light-
ing of the seat belt warning light . Warnings when a front or rear
seat belt is unfastened
- If the vehicle speed is
below 13 mph
(20 km/h) , you are warned by light-
ing of the seat belt warning light .
The warning light switches off when
the seat belt(s) concerned is(are)
fastened.
- If the vehicle speed is above 13 mph
(20 km/h) , you are warned by lash-
ing of the seat belt warning light ,
an audible signal and a message on
the multifunction screen locating the
unfastened seat belt(s).
Note: a bag or an animal placed on
a seat may trigger the lighting of the
warning light.
The audible signal ceases and the
warning light switches off when the
seat belt(s) concerned is(are) fas-
tened.
After two minutes without any action
on the seat belts, the lashing warn-
ing light remains on permanently and

Wherever you are seated in
the vehicle, always fasten
your seat belt, even for short
journeys.
Do not invert the seat belt buckles as
they will not fulil their role fully.
If the seats have armrests*, the lap
part of the seat belt must always
pass under the armrest.
Before and after use, ensure that the
seat belt is rolled up correctly.
In order to be effective, a seat belt:
- must be tightened as close to the body as possible,
- must restrain one adult only,
- must not bear any trace of cuts or fraying,
- must not be twisted,
- must not be transformed or modiied. Clean the seat belt straps with soapy
water or a textile cleaning product,
sold by PEUGEOT dealers.
After folding or moving a seat or rear
bench seat, ensure that the seat belt
is positioned and rolled up correctly.
Recommendations for child seats:
- use a suitable child seat if the pas-
senger is less than 12 years old or
shorter than one metre ifty,
- do not use the strap-guide* when a child seat is installed.
Depending on the nature and se-
riousness of the impacts , the pre-
tensioning device may be triggered
before and independently of the air
bags.
In all cases, the air bag warning light
comes on.
Following an impact, have the seat
belts system checked, and if nec-
essary replaced, by a PEUGEOT
dealer.
* According to model.
