STARTING
STOP position:
The ignition is switched off.

Operates the starter. Starting a diesel engine If the temperature is highenough, the pre-heat indi- cator light does not comeon and you can start
immediately.
If the indicator light comes on,wait for it to go out before operat-
ing the starter. If the engine stalls, it is neces- sary to return the key to the'Stop' position before re-starting. CHECK

Automatic check
With the ignition on (2nd notch)
If no malfunction has been detected: In the absence of
vehicle function status indi-cator lights, the OK light is
displayed after two seconds
on the instrument panel screen.Otherwise, it will be displayed afterthese indicator lights come on.
If a 'minor' malfunction has beendetected: the warning light for the
faulty function is displayed on theinstrument panel screen. Certainindicator lights showing the status ofvehicle functions may also come on,followed by the OKindicator light.
If a 'major' malfunction has beendetected: the corresponding warn-
ing light is displayed on the instru-ment panel screen. Certain indicatorlights showing the status of vehicle
functions may also come on. TheOK indicator light does not come
on. Do not start your vehicle.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer. Afterwards, if the passenger airbag is disarmed, the correspondingwarning light will come on.
With the engine running or if the vehicle is moving, the instrument
panel screen temporarily displays:
Ð lights indicating warnings, when
these occur,
Ð vehicle function sta- tus indicator lights, when a changeoccurs.
The display of certain indicatorlights is accompanied by an audi-ble signal and a message on the
multi-function display. Manual check  Press the "CHECK" button on the
instrument panel.
With the ignition key in the accessories position, with the ignition switched on,with the engine running or the vehiclemoving, this function informs you at alltimes of the following:
Ð any current warnings,
Ð the status of functions which it is possible to switch on or switch off (windscreen wipers, automaticswitching on of lights, cruise con-trol, disarming of passenger airbag, etc.).
The corresponding warning lights aredisplayed in succession on the instru-ment panel screen. If a warning or a change of status occurs during the CHECKmode, the
corresponding indicator light(s) will bedisplayed at the end of this mode.

CRUISE CONTROL Cruise control enables the vehi- cle to maintain a steady speed
programmed by the driver, with-out the accelerator beingpressed. In order for it to be memorised, the speed of the vehicle must begreater than 25mph (40km/h) or40mph (60km/h) depending onengine. OperationPlace the ring of stalk A in the ONposition.
The indicator lightcomes on, accompa-nied by an audiblesignal. FRONT AIR BAGS Disarming the passenger air bag*
with the ignition off, insert thekey into slot
1and turn it:
Ð to the 'ON'position, the pas-
senger air bag is armed,
Ð to the 'OFF'position, the pas-
senger air bag is disarmed.
Operating check When the passenger airbag is disarmed, thewarning light comes onwhen the ignition isswitched on (2nd notch),
accompanied by an audible sig-nal and the message 'Passenger
air bag disarmed' . Front air bag faulty
If this warning lightcomes on, accompaniedby an audible signal andthe message 'Air bag
faulty' , contact a
PEUGEOT dealer to have thesystem checked. Passenger air bag precautions
Disarm theair bag ifyou installa rear-facing childseat.
Arm the airbag for anadult pas-
senger.
Never place your feet or anyobject on the fascia.

Tyre under-inflation warning light Display of this warning light is acompanied by an audible signal and the message 'Tyre(s) pressure low'on the
multi-function display.Have the tyre pressure checked as soon as possible.
Low coolant level warning light Display of this warning light is accompanied by an audible signal and the message 'Cooling circuit level low'on
the multi-function display .
Stop immediately.
Warning: wait for the engine to cool before topping up.
The cooling system is pressurised.In the event of breakdown and to prevent the risk of scalding, unscrew the cap by two turns to allow the pressure to drop. When the pressure has dropped, remove the cap and top up the level.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer.
Seat belt not fastened warning light Display of this warning light is accompanied by an audible signal and the message 'Seat belt not fastened' on the
multi-function display.With the engine running, the warning light comes on when the driver's seat belt is unfastened. Electronic immobiliser warning light Display of this warning light is accompanied by an audible signal and the message 'Electronic theft protection
faulty' on the multi-function display.
It indicates a malfunction of the electronic immobiliser system.

Selecting telephone mode / Entering a number / Switching off the microphoneTo change to telephone mode, press the 'TEL' button or for more than 2 seconds on the steering column
remote control. Insert your SIM card fully into the slot at the front (use only the new generation 3V SIM card with bank card
format).
Note: the SIM card must not be taken out while the audio/telephone system is still in use. If you forget to do this, an audible
signal will sound for a few seconds after the ignition is switched off.
Enter your PIN number and confirm with the 'OK' button in order to access the network. The welcome screen is
displayed.Note: the PIN code is erased each time the ignition is switched off, but the ''PIN code protection'' function may be
cancelled.
Enter the number of the person you wish to speak to on the digital keypad and pres the 'OK'button to make the call.
To switch off the microphone mid-communication, press the 'TEL'button.
Cancelling the PIN code request
To cancel the PIN code request, select 'PIN code protection' in the 'Telephone parameters' menu and confirm; select 'OFF' and confirm, then input your PIN code and confirm. Receiving / Ending a call When a ringing sounds to let you know that a call is waiting, you can choose either to accept it by press- ing the 'OK'button or not to accept it by pressing button Por by selecting 'Refuse call' using the steer-
ing column remote control, pressing the end to confirm. If you do not accept it, the call is diverted to your voice mail (if this service is available and active).
To end the call, press button Por the end of the steering wheel remote control.
Note: Not accepting or ending a call by means of the steering wheel control returns the system to radio mode.
Receiving two incoming calls
During a call, when there is another incoming call, you are informed of this by a ring and a message. You may choose:
Ð to accept the call by pressing button 2then "OK" ; the first caller is put on hold and you are in contact with the second.
However, pressing button 2again allows you to return to the first caller,
Ð to finish the call you are on and talk to the second caller by pressing button 1 then "OK",
Ð not to accept the new call by pressing button "C".

' Door open' alert
With the ignition on (2nd notch), withthe engine running or when the vehi-cle is moving, if a door is not proper-ly closed then the door open warninglight comes on, accompanied by anaudible signal and a diagram indicat-ing the relevant door on the
multiÐfunction display, if a door is notproperlyclosed. Child safety This prevents either of the rear doors being opened from inside.
 Turn the red plastic switch a quar-
ter of a turn using the ignition key.

Closing the boot  Press the centre of the boot lidwith both hands, until it locks.
'Boot open' warning With the ignition on (2nd notch), with the engine running or when the vehi-cle is moving, the door open warninglight comes on, accompanied by anaudible signal and a diagram on the
multi-function display, if the boot isnot properly closed.
THE BOOT Opening the boot
With the vehicle locked / deadlocked

This action will also unlock the doors and the fuel filler flap. SUNROOF Control the sunroof:
Ð manually
: lightly press the switch;
the roof stops as soon as the switch is released.
Ð automatically : press the switch
down; the roof opens partially oropens or closes completelydepending on where the switch ispressed.
¥to partially open the roof: press

direction indicator to its normal posi-tion, the volume of the audible signalwill increase, if you are driving at aspeed greater than 40 mph (60 km/h). Parking lights The parking lights are lit on the side
the traffic is on.
With the engine switched off, place
the indicator lights stalk on the trafficside (i.e. for parking on the right;switching on of the lights on the left
Dipped / main beam change
 Pull the stalk fully towards you.
Note : with the ignition and the auto-
matic lights function switched off, onopening the driver's door a buzzersounds if you have left your lights on. Front and rear fog lamps (ring B)
 Turn ring Bto the position
required. The position is con- firmed by the light on the instru-ment panel.
Front foglamps
These operate with the side lights andthe dipped / main beam headlamps.

Notes It is only possible to change from one gear to another if the vehicle speed and enginespeed permit. If they do not, the vehicle willoperate temporarily in automatic mode. When the vehicle is stationary or moving
very slowly, the gearbox automaticallyselects gear M1.
Programmes S(sport) and (snow) do not
operate in manual mode.
Operating abnormality Any operating abnormality isshown by illumination of this warn-ing light, accompanied by an audi-ble signal and the message 'Auto-
matic gearbox faulty' on the
multi-function display. In this situation the gearbox operates in
downgrade mode (locked in 3rd gear). Youmay feel a substantial knock when selectingreverse from Pto Rand from Nto R(this will
not cause any damage to the gearbox). Do not exceed 60 mph (100 km/h).
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer as soon as possible.Automatic operation Automatic changing of the four gears:
select function Din the gate.
The gearbox always selects the most suitable gear according to the follow-ing parameters:
Ð the style of driving,
Ð the road profile,
Ð the vehicle load.The gearbox is then operating in auto- adaptive mode, without any action onyour part.
WARNING Never select function N when the vehi-
cle is moving.Never select functions Por Runless
the vehicle is stationary.Never change betwen functions to optimise braking on a slippery surface. Notes For immediate maximum acceleration
without touching the gear lever, pressthe accelerator pedal down as far as it
will go (kickdown). The gearbox willautomatically change down or main-tain the gear selected until maximumengine speed is reached. When the brake is applied, the gear- box will automatically change down in
order to provide efficient engine brak-ing.
If you take your foot off the accelerator
suddenly, the gearbox will not change
to a higher gear for reasons of safety. Sport and snow programmes In addition to the auto-adaptive pro- gramme, there are two special pro-grammes.The programme is displayed on theinstrument panel screen. Sport programme

Sonce the vehicle has

The gearbox automatically favours sporty driving and more dynamicacceleration. Snow programme This programme improves starting and
drive when traction is poor.
Press button once the vehicle has
been started and function Dselected.
The gearbox adapts to driving on slip-pery roads. Note: you can return to the auto-adap-
tive programme at any time.
Press button Sor again to switch
off the programme you are in.
Manual operationManual changing of the four gears:

pull the lever to the -sign to change

You can change from position D(dri-
ving in automatic mode) to position M

ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED SUSPENSION The suspension adapts automatical- ly and instantly to different drivingstyles and road characteristics,improving the comfort of the occu-pants and the vehicle's road holdingcapabilities. The suspension favours smooth shock absorption, ensuring a com-fortable ride, but as soon as condi-tions demand a change (sporty dri-ving, tight bends, avoidance action,etc.) it automatically selects firmershock absorption, guaranteeing opti-mum road holding.Selecting the SPORT position
 Press switch 1, the SPORT indi-
cator light will come on,accompanied by an audiblesignal. In this position, the suspen- sion is maintained in the
SPORT position.
To return to automatic opera-tion
 Press switch 1again. The indicator
light will go out and the
AUTO indicator light comes
on, accompanied by an audi-ble signal.
Operating check This is confirmed by the switch light
and the indicator lights. The switchlight comes on for approximatelythree seconds every time the ignitionis switched on. If the switch light flashes or if the indicator light comes on, accompa-nied by an audible signal and themessage ' Hydraulic suspension
pressure insufficient' , contact your
PEUGEOT dealer.
HANDBRAKE ApplyingWhen parking, pull the handbrake to immobilise your vehicle.
Warning: when parking on a slope,
direct your wheels towards the pave- ment and apply the handbrake. ReleasingPull the handle and press the button to release the handbrake.

CRUISE CONTROL Cruise control enables the vehicle to maintain a steady speed programmed
by the driver, regardless of the roadcharacteristics and without the driverhaving to touch the accelerator orbrake pedals. In order for it to be memorised, the vehicle speed must be greater than25 mph (40 km/h) or 40 mph (60km/h), (according to engine). Operation
 Place the ring of switch 1in the ON
position. The indicator lightwill come on accompaniedby an audible signal.
A speed can be memorised.
 Place the ring of switch 1 in the OFF position to cancel.
Memorising a speed As soon as you reach the chosen speed, push stalk 1upwards or
downwards. This memorises thespeed, which will be maintained
automatically. Note : it is possible to accelerate
momentarily without disarming the cruise control. Cancelling the memorised speed
If you wish to cancel the memorisedspeed :
 Pull stalk 1towards you or press
the brake or clutch pedal.
Recalling the memorisedspeed
After cancellation, flick stalk 1 upwards or downwards. Your vehicle
will return to the last memorised speed.
Changing a memorised speed
To memorise a speed higher than the previous one:
 keep stalk 1pressed upwards;
 release it when you have reachedthe required speed.
To memorise a speed lower than theprevious one :  keep stalk 1pressed downwards;
 release it when you have reachedthe required speed.
Disarming the cruise control  place the ring in the OFFposition
or switch off the ignition.
Do not use cruise control on slippery roads or inheavy traffic.
