Besurethevehiclebatteryiswellchargedandcrankstheengineproperly.
Checkalldoorsandlidsforproperoperationandlatchthemproperly.
Checkandifnecessaryreplacewornorcrackedwiperblades.
Seethatallwindowsareclearandunobstruct-ed.
Checkairintakeslotsandareabetweenfrontlidandwindshield.Ensurethattheseareasarefreeofsnowandice,sotheheaterandthewindshieldwipersworkproperly.
Ifachildwillberidinginthevehicle,checkchildseat/childseatrestraintsystemtoensurethatrestraintsareproperlyadjusted.
Checkallexteriorandinteriorlightsforoperationandthatthelensesareclean.
Checktheheadlightsforproperaim,andifnecessary,havethemadjusted.
Checkunderthevehicleforleaks.
Besureallluggageisstowedsecurely.
Emergencyequipment
Itisgoodpracticetocarryemergencyequipmentinyourvehicle.Someoftheitemsyoushouldhaveare:windowscraper,snowbrush,containerorbagofsandorsalt,emergencylight,smallshovel,first-aidkit,etc.

Adjusttheinsideandoutsiderearviewmirrors.
Buckleyoursafetybelts.
Checkoperationofthefootandparkingbrake.
Checkallwarningandindicatorlightswithignitiononandenginenotrunning.
Startengineandcheckallwarningdisplaysforwarningsymbols.
Neverleaveanidlingcarunattended.

Makeitahabittohavetheengineoilcheckedwitheveryrefueling.

Dangerofreinenginecompartmentduetoburningcigarsorcigarettes.Seriouspersonalinjuryordeathcouldresultfromreintheenginecompartment.

AsteeringwheellockandagongalarmarestandardequipmentinyourPorsche.Thegongalarmwillsoundifyouopenthedriver’sdoorwhilethekeyisstillintheignitionlock.Itisyourremindertopullthekeyoutoftheignitionlockandtolockthedoors.

Orderofreplacementkeys
ReplacementcarkeyscanbeobtainedonlyfromyourauthorizedPorschedealer,andthiscansometimesbeverytime-consuming.Youshouldthereforealwayskeepthesparekeyonyourperson.Keepitinasafeplace(e.g.wallet),butundernocircumstancesinoronthevehicle.
Thekeycodesofnewkeyshavetobe“reported”tothecarcontrolunitbyyourauthorizedPorschedealer.
Atotalof6carkeyscanbereportedtothecontrolunit.
Disablingkeycodes
Ifakeyislost,thekeycodescanbedisabledbyanauthorizedPorschedealer.Alltheremainingcarkeysarerequiredforthispurpose.Disablingthecodeensuresthatthecarcanbestartedonlyusingauthorizedkeys.
Note
Pleasenotethattheotherlockscanstillbeopenedwiththedisabledkey.
Immobilizer
Thereisatransponder(anelectroniccomponent)inthekeygrip,containingastoredcode.Whentheignitionisswitchedon,theignitionlockchecksthecode.Theimmobilizercanbeswitchedoffandthe
enginestartedonlyusinganauthorizedignitionkey.
Switchingofftheimmobilizer
Inserttheignitionkeyintotheignitionlock.
Iftheignitionisleftonformorethan2minuteswithouttheenginebeingstarted,theimmobilizerisswitchedonagain.
Ifthishappens,turntheignitionkeytotheleftbeforestartingtheengine.Theimmobilizerisswitchedoffagain,andtheenginecanbestarted.

Donotadjustseatswhilethevehicleisinmotion.Thebackrestlocksmustbeengagedatalltimeswhilethevehicleisinmotion.

Safetybeltsonlyofferprotectionwhenthebackrestisuprightandthebeltsareproperlypositionedonthebody.Improperlypositionedsafetybeltsorsafetybeltswornbypassengersinanexcessivelyreclinedpositioncancauseseriouspersonalinjuryordeathinanaccident.
Donotoperatethecarwiththedriverorpassengerbackrestsexcessivelyreclined(see“Seatposition”).
Seatposition
Anergonomicallycorrectsittingpositionisimportantforsafeandfatigue-freedriving.Werecommendthefollowingprocedureforadjustingthedriver’sseattosuitindividualrequirements:
1.Vehicleswithmanualtransmission:Adjusttheseatuntil,withtheclutchpedalfullydepressed,yourlegremainsataslightangle.VehicleswithTiptronicS:Adjusttheseatuntil,withyourleftfootonthefootrest,yourleftlegremainsataslightangle.
2.Restyouroutstretchedarmonthesteeringwheel.Setthebackrestangleandthesteer-ing-wheelpositionsothatyourwristrestsontheouterrimofthesteeringwheel.Atthesametime,theshouldersmuststillbeinnoticeablecontactwiththebackrest.
3.Adjusttheseatheighttogiveyourselfenoughheadroomandagoodoverviewofthevehicle.
4.Electricallyadjustableseat:Adjusttheseatangleuntilyourthighsrestlightlyontheseatcushion.
