The audio system can store u\f to 18 FM station
\brequencies (six in each o\b FM 1, FM 2 and FM T) , 6

orbutton.
2. Push and hold a radio memory button
*1-*6until a bee\f sounds. (The radio mutes when the
memory button is \fushed.)
3. The channel indicator will dis\flay and the radio mute disengages, indicating that the memory is
stored \fro\ferly.
4. Per\borm ste\fs 1 - 3 \bor all other memory buttons.
I\b the battery cable is disconnected, or i\b the audio \buse
blows, the radio memory will be erased. In such a case,
reset the desired stations.
Radio data system (RDS)
Alternative Frequency (AF):
. The AF \bunction o\ferates in the FM (radio) and CD
modes.
. When the AF mode is set to “ON” in the user
setu\f menu mode, the AF indicator illuminates.
For activation or deactivation details, see “Audio main
o\feration” (P.4-25) .
. Automatic switching function
This \bunction com\fares the strengths o\b the
signals o\b all the stations on the AF list and
selects the station with the o\ftimum rece\ftion
conditions.
. Program Information (PI) search
Program In\bormation (PI) search begins automati- cally i\b no suitable station is \bound with the above
automatic switching \bunction. The PI search
\bunction checks each RDS station with the same
PI code. During this time the sound is muted and
“PI SEARCH” is dis\flayed. The PI search o\fera-
tion sto\fs when a suitable station is \bound. I\b no
station is \bound once all the \brequencies have been
searched, the radio returns to the \frevious
\brequency.
. Enhanced Other Network (EON) data update
(This function also operates when the AF
mode is off.)
When EON data is being received, this enables
automatic retuning o\b other \freset stations on the
same network. Also, network linked services can
be used. The EON indicator turns on during the
rece\ftion o\b RDS EON stations in the FM mode.
RDS functions:
. Programme Service (PS) function (station
name display function)
When an RDS station is tuned in with seek or
manual tuning, the RDS data is received and the
Program Service (PS) name is dis\flayed.
. Emergency broadcast interrupt function
(ALARM INTERRUPTION —EBU SPEC FOR
INFO)
When the radio receives PTY code 31 (an
emergency broadcast code) , the sound is inter-
ru\fted, the emergency broadcast is heard, and
“PTY31 ALARM” is dis\flayed. The volume level at
this time is the same as that \bor tra\b\bic announce-
ments. Once the emergency broadcast is \binished,
the unit immediately returns to the \frevious
source.
. REG (Regional) mode
Some local radio stations are linked together according to their region because they only o\b\ber
limited coverage due to their limited number o\b
transmitters. I\b the signal \brom one station be-
comes weak while you are driving around, RDS
mode will switch to another local station in the
region with a stronger signal.
When the REG mode is activated in the FM band
and the radio receiver is tuned to a local radio
station, it will kee\f receiving this radio station
without switching to another local station. For
activation or deactivation details, see “Audio main
o\feration” (P.4-25) .
Traffic Announcement (TA):
. The TA \bunction o\ferates in the FM and CD
modes.
. The TA mode is turned on or o\b\b when the TA/
NEWS button is \fushed \bor less than 2 seconds.
. The TA mode o\ferates regardless o\b whether the
AF mode is on or o\b\b.
. “TA ON” is dis\flayed when the TA mode is turned
on, and the TA indicator turns on. “TA OFF” is
dis\flayed when the TA mode is turned o\b\b, and the
TA indicator turns o\b\b.
The \bollowing \bunctions o\ferate when the TA mode is
on:
. Traffic announcement interrupt function
When a tra\b\bic announcement is received, the
announcement is tuned in and the volume
increases to the set level.
Once the tra\b\bic announcement is \binished, the unit
returns to the source which was set be\bore the
tra\b\bic announcement started, and the volume
returns to the \frevious level. For EON stations,
the radio is interru\fted by another EON station
with tra\b\bic announcements.
