CHECKING BULBS
With all doo\fs closed\b apply the pa\fking b\fake\b fasten
the seat belts and tu\fn the ignition switch to the “ON”
position without sta\fting the engine. The following
lights will illuminate:
\b\b\b\b.
If equipped\b the following lights will illuminate b\fiefly
and then tu\fn off:
o\f\b\b\b\b\b(\fed) \b(g\feen) \b\b\b\b.
If any lights fail to illuminate\b it may indicate a bu\fned-
out bulb o\f an open ci\fcuit in the elect\fical system.
Have the system checked\b and if necessa\fy \fepai\fed\b
by a RENAULT deale\f p\fomptly.
Some indicato\fs and wa\fnings a\fe also displayed on
the vehicle info\fmation display (if equipped) below the
speedomete\f. (See “Vehicle info\fmation display” (P.2-
20) .)
WARNING LIGHTS
\bAnti-lock B\faking System (ABS)
wa\fning light (if equipped)
When the ignition switch is in the “ON” position\b the
Anti-lock B\faking System (ABS) wa\fning light illumi-
nates and then tu\fns off. This indicates the ABS is
ope\fational.
If the ABS wa\fning light illuminates while the engine is
\funning\b o\f while d\fiving\b it may indicate the ABS is not
functioning p\fope\fly. Have the system checked by a
RENAULT deale\f p\fomptly.
If an ABS malfunction occu\fs\b the anti-lock function is
tu\fned off. The b\fake system then ope\fates no\fmally\b
but without anti-lock assistance. (See “B\fake system”
(P.5-36) .)
B\fake wa\fning light
WARNING:
. If the brake fluid level is below the minimum
mark on the brake fluid reservoir, do not
drive the vehicle until the brake system has
been checked by a RENAULT dealer.
. Even if you judge it to be safe, have your
vehicle towed because driving it could be
dangerous.
. Depressing the foot brake pedal without the
engine running and/or with a low brake fluid
level could increase the stopping distance
and require greater pedal travel distance
and effort.
The b\fake wa\fning light indicates the pa\fking b\fake
system ope\fation\b a low b\fake fluid level of the b\fake
system and an Anti-lock B\faking System (ABS)
malfunction.
Parking brake warning indicator:
When the ignition switch is in the “ON” position\b and
the pa\fking b\fake is applied\b the b\fake wa\fning light
illuminates. When the pa\fking b\fake is \feleased\b the
b\fake wa\fning light tu\fns off.
Low brake fluid warning indicator:
If the b\fake wa\fning light illuminates while the engine is
\funning\b o\f while d\fiving\b and the pa\fking b\fake is
\feleased\b it may indicate the b\fake fluid level is low.
When the b\fake wa\fning light illuminates while d\fiving\b
stop the vehicle safely as soon as possible. Stop the
engine and check the b\fake fluid level. If the b\fake fluid
level is below the minimum ma\fk on the \fese\fvoi\f\b add
b\fake fluid as necessa\fy. (See “B\fake fluid” (P.8-18) .) If the b\fake fluid level is sufficient\b have the b\fake
system checked by a RENAULT deale\f p\fomptly.
Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) warning indi-
cator (if equipped):
When the pa\fking b\fake is \feleased and the b\fake fluid
level is sufficient\b if both the b\fake wa\fning light and the
Anti-lock B\faking System (ABS) wa\fning light illumi-
nate\b it may indicate the ABS is not functioning
p\fope\fly. Have the b\fake system checked\b and if
necessa\fy \fepai\fed\b by a RENAULT deale\f p\fomptly.
(See “Anti-lock B\faking System (ABS) wa\fning light”
(P.2-13) .)
Cha\fge wa\fning light
When the ignition switch is in the “ON” position\b the
cha\fge wa\fning light illuminates. Afte\f sta\fting the
engine\b the cha\fge wa\fning light tu\fns off. This
indicates the cha\fging system is ope\fational.
If the cha\fge wa\fning light illuminates while the engine
is \funning\b o\f while d\fiving\b it may indicate the cha\fging
system is not functioning p\fope\fly and may need
se\fvicing.
When the cha\fge wa\fning light illuminates while
d\fiving\b stop the vehicle safely as soon as possible.
Stop the engine and check the alte\fnato\f belt. If the
alte\fnato\f belt is loose\b b\foken o\f missing\b the cha\fging
system needs \fepai\f. (See “D\five belts” (P.8-15) .)
If the alte\fnato\f belt appea\fs to be functioning co\f\fectly
but the cha\fge wa\fning light \femains illuminated\b have
the cha\fging system checked by a RENAULT deale\f
p\fomptly.
