PRESENT
OR
STOREDABS MULTIPLEX SIGNAL
1.DEF: No multiplex frameworks or invalid values (signal producing computer
problem or multiplex line connection fault).
NOTESSystem effects:
The lock-up is inhibited (still open).
Customer complaint:
If the lever is in position "P", the "Apply brake" icon is not displayed on the instrument
panel.
The function reducing drag when stationary is no longer operational.
Use the Wiring Diagrams Technical Note, SCENIC II ph2.
Run a multiplex network test (see 88B, Multiplex).
Run a check on the ABS anti-lock braking system (see 38C, ABS Bosch 8.0).
Check the continuity and insulation against earth of the following connections:
●Connection code 3MS,
●Connection code 3MT,
between components 119 and 120.
If the connection is faulty and there is a repair procedure (see Technical Note 6015A, Electrical wiring repair,
Wiring: Precautions for repair), repair the wiring, otherwise replace it.
If the fault is still present, contact the Techline.
AFTER REPAIRDeal with any other faults. Clear the fault memory.
Switch off the ignition, wait 1 minute and carry out a road test followed by another
check with the diagnostic tool.

ALP1 No dialogue with the computer
NOTESSpecial notes:
Only consult this customer complaint after a multiplex network check using the
diagnostic tool.
Make sure that the vehicle + after ignition feed is activated. Check the presence and condition of the UPC automatic
transmission fuses.
Check that the tool is not the cause of the fault, by attempting dialogue with a different system (UCH, Injection,
etc.) on the same vehicle or another vehicle.
Carry out another multiplex network test on the vehicle using the diagnostic tool:
Is the automatic transmission computer recognised?
NO YES
Check that the computer connector is properly
connected and check the condition of its
connections.
Check for the automatic transmission supply fuse on
the passenger compartment connection unit, and its
condition.
Check the battery voltage:
9.5 V < battery voltage < 15.5 V
Carry out the necessary operations to obtain a
correct voltage: Carry out a full check on the battery
and the charging circuit (see Technical
Note 6014A, Charging circuit check).
Establish dialogue with the automatic transmission
computer.
Communication successful at first attempt?
NO YES
Is the identification
screen displayed
after 3 attempts?
End of fault finding.
AFTER REPAIRDeal with any faults detected by the diagnostic tool. Clear the computer memory.
Carry out a road test, then check with the diagnostic tool.

ALP2The starter is not actuated when the gear lever is in position P
and/or N
NOTESSpecial notes:
There must be no present or stored electrical faults.
Only consult this customer complaint after a complete check using the diagnostic tool
and a conformity check.
Apply this ALP after a complete check on the ignition circuit.
Check the battery voltage:
9.5 V < battery voltage < 15.5 V
Carry out the necessary operations to obtain a correct voltage: Carry out a full check on the battery and the
charging circuit (see Technical Note 6014A, Charging circuit check).
Carry out fault finding on the injection computer (see 13B, Diesel injection) and deal with the various faults
displayed on the diagnostic tool, if necessary.
Connect the diagnostic tool to the vehicle and establish dialogue with the automatic transmission computer.
Check statuses ET012 "Gear lever position" and ET013 "Gear engaged"; check the consistency between the tool
display and the locked positions of the gear lever (ignition on and engine stopped): "P" or "N".
Are they consistent?
YES NO
Check that the selection cable is operating and is
correctly positioned and fitted at the lever position
sensor located on the automatic transmission.
Run the starter motor:
Does the starter motor engage?
NO YES
End of fault finding.Contact the Techline.
AFTER REPAIRDeal with any faults detected by the diagnostic tool. Clear the computer memory.
Carry out a road test, then check with the diagnostic tool.

ALP3The starter drives the engine, with the gear lever in a position
other than P or N
NOTESSpecial notes:
There must be no present or stored faults.
Only consult this customer complaint after a complete check using the diagnostic tool
and a conformity check.
Connect the diagnostic tool to the vehicle and establish dialogue with the automatic transmission computer.
Check statuses ET012 Gear lever position and ET013 Gear engaged; check the consistency between the
display on the tool and the locked positions of the gear lever at the bridge piece (ignition on and engine stopped):
"P" or "N".
Are they consistent?
YES NO
End of fault finding procedure. Incorrect
interpretation of customer complaint.
Check that the selection cable is correctly adjusted
and the gear lever correctly positioned at the lever
position sensor located on the automatic
transmission (see MR 370 mechanical, 37A,
Automatic gear controls, Adjustment).
If the fault is still present, contact Techline.
AFTER REPAIRDeal with any faults detected by the diagnostic tool. Clear the computer memory.

Does the condition of the oil suggest there
is an internal fault with the automatic
transmission?
NO
End of fault finding. Review the cause
against the customer complaint.
Check that the selection cable is correctly adjusted
and the gear lever correctly positioned at the lever
position sensor located on the automatic
transmission (see MR 370 mechanical, 37A,
Automatic gear controls, Adjustment).
Carry out a test on the gear selector.
