G: INSTALLATION
1) Install hydraulic unit and bracket.
Tightening torque:
32±7 N⋅m (3.3±0.7 kg-m, 23.9±5.1 ft-lb)
2) Connect brake pipes to their correct hydraulic unit con-
nections. <Ref. to 4-4 [W18A3].>
3) Connect connector to hydraulic unit.
4) Install canister.
5) Install air cleaner case.
6) Install air intake duct.
7) Connect ground cable to battery.
CAUTION:
Cover relay securely with rubber boot.
21. ABS/TCS Control Module
A: REMOVAL
1) Disconnect ground cable from battery.
2) Remove floor mat located under lower right side of front
seat.

3) Remove screw which secure ABS/TCS control module
from the body.
4) Disconnect connector from ABS/TCS control module.
B: INSPECTION
Check that connector is connected correctly and that con-
nector terminal sliding resistance is correct.

1. Supplemental Restraint System
“Airbag”
Airbag system wiring harness is routed near the instrument
panel, heater unit, blower motor and control unit.
CAUTION:
All Airbag system wiring harness and connectors
are colored yellow. Do not use electrical test equip-
ment on these circuit.
Be careful not to damage Airbag system wiring har-
ness when servicing the instrument panel, heater unit,
blower motor and control unit.
2. Heater Unit
A: REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
1) Disconnect GND cable from battery.
2) Remove heater hoses (inlet, outlet) in engine compart-
ment.
NOTE:
Drain as much coolant from heater unit as possible, and
plug disconnected hose with cloth.

3) Remove instrument panel.
<Ref. to 5-4 [W1A0].>
4) Remove steering support beam.
<Ref. to 5-1 [C600].>
5) Remove evaporator. (With A/C model)

1. Supplemental Restraint System
“Airbag”
Airbag system wiring harness is routed near the instrument
panel, heater unit, blower motor and control unit.
CAUTION:
All Airbag system wiring harness and connectors
are colored yellow. Do not use electrical test equip-
ment on these circuit.
Be careful not to damage Airbag system wiring har-
ness when servicing the instrument panel, heater unit,
blower motor and control unit.
2. Heater Unit
A: REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
1) Disconnect GND cable from battery.
2) Remove heater hoses (inlet, outlet) in engine compart-
ment.
NOTE:
Drain as much coolant from heater unit as possible, and
plug disconnected hose with cloth.

3) Remove instrument panel.
<Ref. to 5-4 [W1A0].>
4) Remove steering support beam.

5) Remove evaporator. (With A/C model)

4. Control Unit
A: REMOVAL
1) Disconnect GND cable from battery.
2) Set temperature control lever to“FULL COLD”position.
3) Remove temperature control cable from heater unit.
NOTE:
Do not attempt to move link of heater unit during installa-
tion.

4) Remove cup holder.
5) Remove center panel and then disconnect connector.

6) Remove control unit assembly and disconnect connec-
tor.

B: INSPECTION
1. FAN SWITCH
Check continuity between terminals at each switch posi-
tion.

cable, secure control cable with clip

D: INSTALLATION
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
NOTE:
Before control unit installation, set temperature control
lever to“FULL COLD”position.

8. REAR GATE SWITCH (WAGON)
NOTE:
The rear gate switch is united with the rear gate latch
assembly.
1) Remove rear gate trim panel.
2) Disconnect rod from rear gate latch assembly.
3) Disconnect rear gate switch (combined with luggage
room light switch) connector and power door lock actuator
connector.
4) Remove bolts which secure power door lock actuator.
5) Remove bolts which secure latch.
6) Remove latch and actuator assembly.
7) Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

9. SECURITY INDICATOR LIGHT
1) Remove screws which secure meter visor.
2) Remove meter visor from instrument panel while dis-
connecting connectors.
3) Remove security indicator light from meter visor.
4) Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

10. SECURITY CONTROL MODULE
1) Follow the same preparatory procedures when remov-
ing door lock timer. <Ref. to 6-2 [W17A2].>
2) Remove nut which secures security control module,
and remove security control module from bracket while
pulling right side lower end of instrument panel.
CAUTION:
Be careful not to damage instrument panel while pull-
ing its right side lower end.
3) Disconnect connector from security control module.
4) Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

K: DIAGNOSTICS PROCEDURE FOR KEY
CYLINDER LOCK/UNLOCK SWITCH AND
TAMPER SWITCH SIGNAL
NOTE:
Key cylinder lock switch, key cylinder unlock switch and
tamper switch are combined as a unit.
1. Check key cylinder switch input signal for
security control module.
Not OK
OK
Go to next step on basic diagnostics procedure.

2. Check key cylinder switch.
OK
Not OK
Replace key cylinder switch.
Repair or replace wiring harness between key
cylinder switch and security control module.

1. CHECK KEY CYLINDER SWITCH INPUT SIGNAL
FOR SECURITY CONTROL MODULE.
1) Remove security control module without disconnecting
connector.
2) Measure voltage between security control module con-
nector and body while turning each key cylinder with igni-
tion key.
Doors (RH and LH), and rear gate (WAGON)
