CAUTION
When you install a child restraint system, follow the manufactur-
er’ s instructions supplied with it. After installing the child re-
straint system, check to ensure that it is held securely in posi-
tion. If it is not held tight and secure, the danger of your childsuffering personal injury in the event of an accident may be in-creased.
1. Use the “Child ” marks to loc ate the two lower anc horag es (b ars)
for the p osition where you want to install the c hil d restraint system.
NOTE On a vehicle with a built-in child restraint, if you are required to use a child restraint system and the built-in child restraint at the
same time, it is recommended that you install the child restraint
system on the rear left side (behind the driver ’s seat). The built-in
child restraint is located toward the right side. For this reason, certain child restraint systems will be tilted if installed on theright side and they cannot be properly secured.
2. While following the instruc tions sup p lied b y the c hild restraint sys-
tem manufac turer, c onnec t the c onnec tors of the c hi ld restraint sys-
tem to the lower anc horag es.
When the c onnec tors are fastened , make sure that th e ad jac ent seat-
b elts are not c aug ht.
If your c hild restraint system is of a flexib le att ac hment typ e (whic h
uses tether strap s to c onnec t the c hild restraint s ystem p rop er to the
lower anc horag es), firmly tig hten the strap s after c onnec ting the c on-
nec tors.
3. Connec t the top tether hook to the tether anc hora g e and firmly
tig hten the tether.
For information on how to set the top tether, read the following “To p
tether anc horag es ”.
4. Before seating a c hild in the c hild restraint sys tem, try to move seat
b ac k and forth to verify that it is held sec urely i n p osition.
If you have any q uestion c onc erning this typ e of c h ild restraint sys-
tem, ask your SUBARU d ealer.

Snugly adjust the belts provided with this child restraint
around your child. The built-in child restraint should be used for only one child at
a time. Using it for two or more children at the same time couldresult in serious injury or death in an accident. Do not use the center lap and shoulder belt with the child re-
straint. A child using the center seatbelt could slide forward andout from under the seatbelt in a sudden stop or an accident, re-sulting in serious injury to the child.
HBS047BA
WARNING
Do not use another child restraint system over the opened
built-in child restraint. Because a child restraint system cannot be secured on the built-in restraint cushion, the restraint could
fall down during sudden braking, a sharp turn or in an accident,
causing serious injury to the child in it. Always keep the child restraint equipped rear seatback locked
securely in place when the child restraint is in use. Otherwise, inan accident, serious injury or death to a child could result if the
seatback falls down. The built-in child restraint, especially metallic parts, can be-
come hot in a vehicle that has been closed up in sunny weather;they could burn a small child. Check the child restraint beforeyou place a child in it.
