WARNING
●In the following situations, the sensors may not operate normally and may
lead to an accident. Drive carefully.
• Obstacles cannot be detected in the side areas until a scan of the side
areas is completed. ( P. 415)
• Even after the scan of the side areas is completed, obstacles such as
other vehicles, people or animals that approach from the sides cannot
be detected.
• The sensor is frozen (if it thaws, the system returns to normal).
A warning message may display at particularly low temperatures due to
the sensor freezing and it may not detect parked vehicles.
• The sensor is blocked by someone’s hand.
• The vehicle is tilted a large amount.
• The temperature is extremely hot or cold.
• The vehicle is driven on undulating roads, slopes, gravel roads, in areas
with tall grass, etc.
• An ultrasonic wave source is nearby, such as the horn or sensors of
another vehicle, a motorcycle engine or the air brake of a large vehicle.
• Heavy rain or a water strikes the vehicle.
• Do not install any accessories within the sensor detection range.

If the vehicle gets stuck in mud, dirt or snow, the TRC system may
reduce power from the engine to the wheels. Pressing to turn
the system off may make it easier for you to rock the vehicle in order
to free it.
To turn the TRC system off,
quickly press and release .
A message will be shown on the
multi-information display.
Press again to turn the sys-
tem back on.
■ Turning off both TRC and VSC systems
To turn the TRC and VSC systems off, press and hold for more than 3
seconds while the vehicle is stopped.
The VSC off indicator light will come on and the message will be shown on
the multi-information display.*
Press again to turn the system back on.
*: On vehicles with pre-collision system, pre-collision brake assist and pre-
collision braking will also be disabled. The PCS warning light will come on
and the message will be shown on the multi-information display. ( P. 696)
■ When the message is displayed on the multi-information display show-
ing that TRC has been disabled even if has not been pressed
TRC cannot be operated. Contact any authorized Toyota retailer or Toyota
authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer.

■Changing sound quality modes
Press the “SETUP” button (Type A), or the tune/scroll knob (Type
B).
Turn the knob to select “Sound Setting”.
Press the knob.
Turn the knob as corresponds to the desired mode.
“BASS”, “TREBLE”, “FADER”, “BAL ANCE”, or “ASL” can be selected.
Press the knob.
■Adjusting sound quality
Turning the tune/scroll knob adjusts the level.
*: The sound quality level is adjusted individually in each audio mode.
Press the “SETUP” button or the back button (Type A), or knob or
(“BACK”) (Type B) to return to the sound setting menu.

■Updating the station list
Press the “LIST” button (Type A).
The station list will be displayed.
Press (“UPDATE”) to update the list.
“Updating” is displayed while the searching is in process, and then avail-
able stations will be listed on the display.
To cancel the updating process, press the back button (Type A).
■Selecting a station from the station list
Press the “LIST” button (Type A).
The station list will be displayed.
Turn the tune/scroll knob to select a station.
Press the knob to tune in the station.
To return to the previous display, press the back button (Type A).

Turn the tune/scroll knob or press the “ ” or “” on the “SEEK
TRACK” button (Type A), or the “ ” or “” button of “SEEK TRACK”
(Type B) to move up or down until the desired track number is dis-
played.
■Selecting a track from a track list
Press the “LIST” button (Type A) or (“LIST”) (Type B).
The track list will be displayed.
Turn and press the tune/scroll knob to select a track.
To return to the previous display, press the “LIST” button or the back
button (Type A), or (“BACK”) (Type B).
■Fast-forwarding and rewinding tracks
Press and hold the “ ” or “” on the “SEEK TRACK” button (Type
A), or the “<” or “>” button of “SEEK TRACK” (Type B).
