flashing (P. 159, 161) and all of the following conditions are met:
● Hybrid system output restriction control
• The Parking Support Brake is enabled.
• The vehicle speed is approximately 15 km/h (9 mph) or less.
• Vehicles which are approaching from the right or left at the r ear of the
vehicle at a traveling speed of approximately 8 km/h (5 mph) or more.
• The shift lever is in R.
• The Parking Support Brake determines that a stronger than norm al brake
operation is necessary to avoid a collision with an approaching vehicle.
● Brake control
• Hybrid system output restriction control is operating.
• The Parking Support Brake determines that an emergency brake o pera-

■ The Parking Support Brake function (rear-crossing vehicles) will stop
operating when
The function will stop operating if any of the following condit ions are met:
● Hybrid system output restriction control

S-IPA (Simple Intelligent Parking Assist
System)
The Simple Intelligent Parking Assist System automatically oper ates
the steering wheel to provide support when backing into an area near
a target parking spot, and when departing from a parallel parki ng spot.
(Shift lever operations and speed adjustment when moving forwar d or
backing up are not performed automatically.)
● The Simple Intelligent Parking Assist System does not park the
vehicle automatically. It is a system that provides support whe n
pulling out of a perpendicular or parallel parking spot.
● The Simple Intelligent Parking Assist System provides steering
wheel operation assistance to guide the vehicle toward the sele cted
intended parking spot. The selected intended parking spot may n ot
always be reachable, depending on road and vehicle conditions a t
the time of parking, and the distance to the intended parking s pot.
While the Simple Intelligent Parking Assist System is operating , if the
system detects an obstacle that could result in a collision, th e emer-
gency brakes operate, regardless of whether the PKSB (Parking S up-
port Brake) system is on or off. ( P. 497)

● When backing up or proceeding forward, be sure to directly confirm the
safety of the area to the front or rear, and the area around th e vehicle, and
slowly back up or proceed forward while adjusting the vehicle s peed by
depressing the brake pedal.
● If it seems the vehicle may make contact with a pedestrian, another vehi-
cle or any other obstacles, stop the vehicle by depressing the brake pedal,
and then press the S-IPA switch ( P. 494) to turn the system off.

■PKSB (Parking Support Brake) system while the Simple Intelligent Park-
ing Assist System is op erating (if equipped)
While the Simple Intelligent Parking Assist System is operating , if the system
detects an obstacle that could result in a collision, hybrid sy stem output sup-
pression control and brake control of the PKSB (Parking Support Brake) sys-
tem are operated, regardless of whether the PKSB (Parking Suppo rt Brake)
system is on or off. ( P. 478)
● After the PKSB (Parking Support Brake) system operates, operation of the
Simple Intelligent Parking Assi st System is temporarily stopped, and opera-
tion of the PKSB (Parking Support Brake) system is indicated on the multi-
information display. ( P. 479)
● When operation of the Simple Intelligent Parking Assist System is stopped 3
times by operation of the PKSB (Parking Support Brake) system, the Simple
Intelligent Parking Assist System is canceled.
● Once the Simple Intelligent Parking Assist System becomes available after
the PKSB (Parking Support Brake) system is operated, a message prompt-
ing you to shift is displayed on the multi-information display. Operation of the
Simple Intelligent Parking Assist System can be resumed by shif ting accord-
ing to the prompt on the multi-information display and pressing the S-IPA
switch ( P. 494) again.
■ Shifting while the Simple Intelligent Parking Assist System is operating
If the system determines that the drivers intends to move forwa rd or in
reverse, assistance continues even if the drivers shifted befor e being
prompted to do so by the system. However, because driver operat ion differs
from the guidance provided by the system, the number of turning maneuvers
may increase.

performed by the Simple Intelligent Parking Assist System. Afte r control
ends, the indicator blinks for a short period of time and then turns off.
■ Toyota parking assist-sensor pop-up display
While the Simple Intelligent Parking Assist System is operating , if the
PKSB (Parking Support Brake) system detects an obstacle, the To yota
parking assist-sensor display automatically pops up on the guid ance
screen ( P. 457), regardless of whether the PKSB (Parking Support
Brake) system is on or off. ( P. 4 7 8 )
■ If the vehicle speed is about to exceed the speed limit during assist con-
trol
A buzzer will sound and a message indicating that the vehicle s peed may
exceed the operation speed limit will be displayed. When the me ssage is
displayed, immediately depress the brake pedal to decelerate. I f the vehi-
cle continues to accelerate, assist control will be canceled wh en the vehi-
