WARNING
QCaution regarding interference with electronic devices
O People with implantable cardiac pacemakers, cardiac resynchronization
therapy-pacemakers or implantable card ioverter defibrillators should main-
tain a reasonable distance between themselves and the smart entry &
start system antennas. ( P. 163)
The radio waves may affect the operation of such devices. If necessary,
the entry function can be disabled. Ask any authorized Toyota retailer or
Toyota authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer for details, such as the
frequency of radio waves and timing of the emitting radio waves. Then,
consult your doctor to see if you should disable the entry function.
O Users of any electrical medical device other than implantable cardiac
pacemakers, cardiac resynchronizati on therapy-pacemakers or implanta-
ble cardioverter defibrillators should consult the manufacturer of the
device for information about its operation under the influence of radio
waves.
Radio waves could have unexpected effects on the operation of such
medical devices.
Ask any authorized Toyota retailer or To yota authorized repairer, or any reli-
able repairer for details on disabling the entry function.

QWhen adjusting the seat position
O Take care when adjusting the seat position to ensure that other passen-
gers are not injured by the moving seat.
O Do not put your hands under the seat or near the moving parts to avoid
injury.
Fingers or hands may become jammed in the seat mechanism.
Q Seat adjustment
O To reduce the risk of sliding under the lap belt during a collision, do not
recline the seat more than necessary.
If the seat is too reclined, the lap belt may slide past the hips and apply
restraint forces directly to the abdomen, or your neck may contact the
shoulder belt, increasing the risk of death or serious injury in the event of
an accident.
Adjustments should not be made while driving as the seat may unexpect-
edly move and cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
O Manual seat: After adjusting the seat, make sure that the seat is locked in
position.

Rear seats
Unhook the lock release lever.
Pull the seat cushions up and
then pull toward the front of
vehicle.
The seat cushions can be removed
separately.
Pull the head restraint up.
Pull the strap and raise the bot-
tom cushion.
The latch under the bottom cush-
ion will release allowing the bottom
cushion to be raised.

Removing the rear seat cushions (if equipped for smart-cab
models)

Anchor the strap to the head
restraint.
Vehicles without the rear center
seat head restraint: Anchor the
strap to the rear outboard seat
head restraint.
Pull the head restraints up.
Pull the straps and raise the
bottom cushions.
The latch under the bottom cush-
ions will release allowing the bot-
tom cushions to be raised.

Anchor the straps to the head
restraints.

WARNING
Observe the following precautions. Failure to do so may result in death or
serious injury.
Q When removing the rear seat cushions or raising the bottom cushion
O Do not operate the rear seat cushions or bottom cushion while driving.
O Stop the vehicle on level ground, apply the parking brake firmly and shift
the shift position to P (automatic tr ansmission) or N (manual transmission).
Q When the rear seat cushions are removed
Be careful not to hit the removed rear seat cushions against a person or
drop it on yourself.
Q When reinstalling the rear seat cushions or returning the bottom cush-
ions to their original position
O Be careful not to get your hands or feet pinched in the seat.
O Make sure there are no obstacles under the seat which would prevent the
seat from properly locking into place.
O Make sure the rear seat cushions and bottom cushion are securely locked
by pushing it upward and downward.
O Check that the seat belts are not twisted or caught in the bottom cushions.

Pull the head restraints up.
Down
Push the head restraint down while
pressing the lock release button.
Integrated type
Head restraints cannot be adjusted and removed.
Adjustable type

Pull the head restraints up.
Down
Push the head restraint down while
pressing the lock release button.

Head restraints cannot be adjusted and removed.
Head restraints are provided for all seats.

Always raise the head restraint one level from the stowed position when
using.
Pull the head restraint up while pressing
the lock release button.
Align the head restraint with the installa-
tion holes and push it down to the lock
position.
Press and hold the lock release button
when lowering the head restraint.
Make sure that the head restraints are
adjusted so that the center of the head
restraint is closest to the top of your ears.

QHead restraint precautions
Observe the following precautions regarding the head restraints. Failure to
do so may result in death or serious injury.
O Use the head restraints designed for each respective seat.
O Adjust the head restraints to the correct position at all times.
O After adjusting the head restraints, push down on them and make sure
they are locked in position.
O Do not drive with the head restraints removed.

Hold the steering wheel and
push the lever down.

Adjust to the ideal position by
moving the steering wheel verti-
cally.
After adjustment, pull the lever up
to secure the steering wheel.
Ty pe B
Adjust to the ideal position by
moving the steering wheel hori-
zontally and vertically.
After adjustment, pull the lever up
to secure the steering wheel.
