You may raise a claim under this warran ty im­
mediat ely afte r your vehicle has fail ed a Ca li­
fornia 1/M test if, as a res ult of that failure , you
a re re qui re d by law to r epair th e vehicle to avoid
imposition of a penalt y or cance llation of your

tiv e in mat eria ls o r wo rkman sh ip, or no t equiva­
l e nt fr om an emi ssio n sta ndpoint to th e or iginal
part, and you are no t able to offe r inform atio n
that th e part is e ith er not d efective o r equivalent
t o th e o riginal part with respect to its em ission
p erforman ce.

se rvi ces. However , the co st of su ch serv ices is
not covered by these warrant ies except in em er­
ge ncies. If the ind epe ndent serv ice estab lish- m
ent find s a warrantable defec t, you may deliv er
th e ve hicle to an au thori zed Volkswagen dea ler
and have t he defect corrected free of charg e.

Scheduled part inspection or replacement
A sche duled o nly fo r inspection in accor­
dance with Volkswagen's instru ctions or re­
q ui red schedu led maint enan ce is covered for
the duration of these warranties.
Damage to non -warranty parts
If fa ilur e of a wa rranted causes damage to a
part not covered by warranty, th e no n-war­
ranted part w ill also be replaced free of c harge .

Em ergency repai rs performed by non-Volk­
swage n service facility w ill be reim bursed if the
repa ir wo rk was needed and correctly per­
fo rm ed, and
