That’s because the electric motor is so silent, you may not be aware that the vehicle is operable.
When starting your vehicleTo start your vehicle, step on the brake pedal and press the
START/STOP
button in the center console (or

Here are a few hints to help you receive the best mileage* out of your Jetta HybridTips for Fuel-Efficient Driving
Overall power usage:
Keep an eye on the power meter
gauge, and try to drive within the 30 percent power range (blue ECO range).Starting from stop:
Shift into Drive, remove your foot from
the brake pedal, and slowly press the accelerator. Quick acceleration can reduce fuel economy by up to 33 percent on the highway and 5 percent in the city.
1
Everyday driving:
Refrain from heavy acceleration or
braking abruptly. Avoid idling whenever possible.Charging the battery:
Brake early and steadily with short
pedal movements. Let the vehicle coast to a stop.
*See back cover for mpg information.1Driving More Efficiently: Drive Sensibly, www.fueleconomy.gov
Driving on highways and expressways:
Coast as
often as possible when conditions allow. When driving at higher speeds, increased wind resistance reduces fuel economy.Cold weather and frequent short trips:
The engine
does not operate efficiently until it is warmed up. Differences in terrain:
Hilly, mountainous, or unpaved
roads reduce fuel economy.NOTE: When using the AC, set the temperature to 72
o F and press the
AUTO button for greater fuel efficiency.

LEARN MORE ATknowingyourvw.comDriving with the Gasoline EngineYour Jetta Hybrid will use the gasoline engine alone when:Accelerating to or driving at higher speeds.**The battery charge level is low.The gasoline engine will also automatically switch on when:The AC system requires a high amount of power. The engine temperature is cold.More braking power is needed (using the brake booster).
Boost modeDriving under both gasoline and electric power.Your Jetta Hybrid will use the gasoline engine and electric motor at the same time when the accelerator is pressed down completely. This uses a large amount of energy.****Always obey speed and traffic laws.

Cooler temperatures may cause a warning to appear and then disappear as the tires warm up. This is a good reminder to check and adjust the tires to the proper inflation pressure.Correct tire pressure

Seeing the TPMS light? Here’s what to do.
If you see the TPMS light on your instrument panel or the message “Tire pressure too low” in the multifunction display, check all tires and inflate the low tire(s) to the correct pressure as soon as possible. The correct tire pressure is displayed on the sticker on the driver’s door jamb. Inflate your tire(s) to those specifications, not to the number on your tires. After inflating the low tire(s) to the correct pressure, turn the ignition on and press the
SET

button inside the glove compartment for five seconds, until you hear the chime.
