Tire Sealing System

WARNING
Please keep the following points in mind when using the tire sealing system:• The sealing compound bottle (no. 8 in the illustration) contains 1) rubberlatex, natural and 2) ethanediol. Thesesubstances are harmful if swallowed.
• The contents of this bottle may causeallergic skin reactions or otherwise bepotentially harmful to the respiratorytract, the skin, the central nervous sys-tem, and the eyes.
Precautions: • Keep out of reach of children.
• Do not ingest the contents.
• Avoid prolonged or repeated contact with the skin.
• Wash thoroughly after handling.
First aid:
• Skin: Wash affected areas of skin withsoap and water. Get medical attentionif symptoms occur.
• Eyes: Flush with plenty of water forleast 15 minutes, occasionally liftingthe upper and lower eyelids. Get medi-cal attention if symptoms occur.
•Inhalation: Move the exposed person to fresh air. If irritation persists, getmedical attention.
• Ingestion: Do
NOT induce vomiting
unless directed to do so by medicalpersonnel. Get medical attention.
• Disposal: Dispose of this material andits container to a hazardous or specialwaste collection point.
NOTE
Do not break the seal on the bottle. This occurs automatically when the bottle isscrewed into the holder.
Tire sealing system–temporarily repairing a flat tire
Temporarily repairing a flat tire is done in two stages:
• Stage 1:
The hole is sealed by pumping
sealing compound into the tire. The car is then driven a short distance to distributethe sealing compound in the tire.
NOTE
Do not remove any foreign objects (nails, etc.) from the tire before using the sealingsystem.
• Stage 2:
The tire’s inflation pressure is
checked and adjusted if necessary.

uses
sensors mounted in the tire valves to check inflation pressure levels. When the vehicle ismoving at a speed of approximately 20 mph(30 km/h) or faster, these sensors transmitinflation pressure data to a receiver located inthe vehicle.

Operation is subject to the fol- lowing conditions: (1) This device may notcause harmful interference, and (2) thisdevice must accept any interferencereceived, including interference that maycause undesired operation. When low inflation pressure is detected, TPMS will light up the tire pressure warn-ing light (also referred to as a telltale) in theinstrument panel (see page 61), and willdisplay a message in the text window. Thewording of this message is determined bythe degree of inflation pressure loss.

When low inflation pressure is detected, TPMS will light up the tire pressure warning light
(also referred to as a telltale) in the instrument panel and will display one of the following messages in the text window:
LOW
TIRE PRESS. CHECK TIRES or VERY LOW
TIRE PRESSURE.
NOTE
If a fault occurs in TPMS, the tire pressure warning light will flash for approximately 1 minute and

SERVICE REQUIRED will be displayed.
Each tire, including the spare (if provided), should be checked monthly when cold andinflated to the inflation pressure recom-mended by the vehicle manufacturer on thevehicle placard or tire inflation pressure label.(If your vehicle has tires of a different sizethan the size indicated on the vehicle placardor tire inflation pressure label, you shoulddetermine the proper tire inflation pressure forthose tires.) As an added safety feature, your vehicle has been equipped with a tire pressure monitor-ing system (TPMS) that illuminates a low tirepressure telltale when one or more of yourtires is significantly under-inflated. Accord-ingly, when the low tire pressure telltale illu-minates, you should stop and check yourtires as soon as possible, and inflate them to the proper pressure. Driving on a significantlyunder-inflated tire causes the tire to overheatand can lead to tire failure. Under-inflationalso reduces fuel efficiency and tire tread life,and may affect the vehicle's handling andstopping ability. Please note that the TPMS is not a substitute for proper tire maintenance, and it is the driv-er's responsibility to maintain correct tirepressure, even if under-inflation has notreached the level to trigger illumination of theTPMS low tire pressure telltale. Your vehicle has also been equipped with a TPMS malfunction indicator to indicate whenthe system is not operating properly. TheTPMS malfunction indicator is combined withthe low tire pressure telltale. When the sys-tem detects a malfunction, the telltale willflash for approximately one minute and thenremain continuously illuminated. Thissequence will continue upon subsequentvehicle start-ups as long as the malfunctionexists. When the malfunction indicator is illu-minated, the system may not be able todetect or signal low tire pressure as intended.TPMS malfunctions may occur for a variety ofreasons, including the installation of replace-ment or alternate tires or wheels on the vehi-cle that prevent the TPMS from functioning

Washing
•The vehicle should be washed at regular intervals since dirt, dust, insects and tarspots adhere to the paint and may causedamage. It is particularly important towash the vehicle frequently in the winter-time to prevent corrosion, when salt hasbeen used on the roads.
• When washing the vehicle, do not exposeit to direct sunlight. Use lukewarm waterto soften the dirt before you wash with asponge, and plenty of water, to avoidscratching.
• Bird droppings: Remove from paintworkas soon as possible. Otherwise the finishmay be permanently damaged.
• A detergent can be used to facilitate thesoftening of dirt and oil.
CAUTION
Chromed wheels
: Clean chrome-plated
wheels using the same detergents used for the body of the vehicle. Aggressive wheelcleaning agents can permanently stainchrome-plated wheels.
• Dry the vehicle with a clean chamois and remember to clean the drain holes in thedoors and rocker panels.
• Tar spots can be removed with tarremover after the vehicle has beenwashed.
• A stiff-bristle brush and lukewarm soapywater can be used to clean the wiperblades. Frequent cleaning of the wind-shield and wiper blades improves visibilityconsiderably and also helps prolong theservice life of the wiper blades.
• Wash off the dirt from the underside(wheel housings, fenders, etc.).
• In areas of high industrial fallout, morefrequent washing is recommended.
Suitable detergentsSpecial vehicle washing detergents should be used. A suitable mixture is about 2.5 fl. oz.(8.5 cl) of detergent to 2.6 US gal. (10 liters) ofwarm water. After washing with a detergentthe vehicle should be well rinsed with cleanwater.
CAUTION
•Avoid waxing or polishing plastic or rubber components
• Polishing chromed strips can wearaway or damage the surface
• Polishes containing abrasive sub-stances should not be used
CAUTION
•Dirt, snow, etc., on the headlights can reduce lighting capacity considerably.Clean the headlights regularly, forexample when refueling.
• During high pressure washing, thespray mouthpiece must never becloser to the vehicle than 13 " (30 cm).Do not spray into the locks.
Special moonroof cautions:
• Always close the moonroof and sunshade before washing your vehicle.
• Never use abrasive cleaning agents onthe moonroof.
• Never use wax on the rubber sealsaround the moonroof.

Exterior componentsVolvo recommends the use of special clean- ing products, available at your Volvo retailer,for cleaning colored plastic, rubber, or orna-mental components such as chromed stripson the exterior of your vehicle. The instruc-tions for using these products should be fol-lowed carefully. Solvents or stain removersshould not be used.
CAUTION
•Avoid waxing or polishing plastic or rubber components

NOTE
When washing the vehicle, remember to remove dirt from the drain holes in thedoors and sills.
WARNING
•When the vehicle is driven immediately after being washed, apply the brakesseveral times in order to remove anymoisture from the brake linings.
• Engine cleaning agents should not beused when the engine is warm. Thisconstitutes a fire risk.
Automatic washing – simple and quick
•
We do NOT recommend washing your vehicle in an automatic wash during thefirst few months (because the paint willnot have hardened sufficiently).
• An automatic wash is a simple and quickway to clean your vehicle, but it is worthremembering that it may not be as thor-ough as when you yourself go over thevehicle with sponge and water. Keepingthe underbody clean is most important,especially in the winter. Some automaticwashers do not have facilities for washingthe underbody.
• Before driving into an automatic carwash, make sure that side view mirrors,auxiliary lamps, etc, are secure, and thatany antenna(s) are retracted or removed.Otherwise there is risk of the machinedislodging them.
Exterior lightingCondensation may form temporarily on the inside of the lenses of exterior lights such asheadlights, fog lights, or tail lights. This is nor-mal and the lights are designed to withstandmoisture. Normally, condensation will dissi-pate after the lights have been on for a shorttime.
Polishing and waxing
•
Normally, polishing is not required during the first year after delivery, however, wax-ing may be beneficial.
• Before applying polish or wax the vehiclemust be washed and dried. Tar spots canbe removed with kerosene or tar remover.Difficult spots may require a fine rubbingcompound.
• After polishing use liquid or paste wax.
• Several commercially available productscontain both polish and wax.
• Waxing alone does not substitute for pol-ishing a dull surface.
• A wide range of polymer-based carwaxes can be purchased today. Thesewaxes are easy to use and produce along-lasting, high-gloss finish that pro-

3. Dampen the stain thoroughly with the
sponge. Let the sponge absorb the stain, do not rub.
4. Dry the stain with soft paper towels or a towel, and allow the leather to dry com-pletely.
Protecting leather upholstery1. Put a small amount of protectant cream on a cloth and apply a thin coating of cream to the upholstery with light circularmovements.
2. Allow the leather to dry for 20 minutes. This will help the leather resist staining and protect against sunlight's harmful UV rays.
CAUTION
• Under no circumstances should gaso- line, naphtha or similar cleaning agentsbe used on the plastic or the leathersince these can cause damage.
• Take extra care when removing stainssuch as ink or lipstick since the color-ing can spread.
• Use solvents sparingly. Too much sol-vent can damage the seat padding.
• Start from the outside of the stain andwork toward the center.
• Sharp objects (e.g. pencils or pens in apocket) or velcro fasteners on clothingmay damage the textile upholstery.
• Clothing that is not colorfast, such asnew jeans or suede garments, maystain the upholstery.
Cleaning a leather-covered steering wheel
•
Remove soil, dust, etc., with a damp sponge and a neutral soap solution.
• Leather should be allowed to breath.Never cover the steering wheel with aplastic protector.
• Volvo recommends cleaning, protectingand conditioning the steering wheel withVolvo's Leather Care Kit 951 0251 andLeather Softener 943 7429. If there are stains on the steering wheel: Type 1
(ink, wine, coffee, milk, sweat or
blood)
–Use a soft cloth or sponge. Wipe the wheel with a solution with 5% ammonia.For blood stains, mix approx. 1 cup (2 dl)of water and one ounce (25g) of salt andwipe the stain.
Type 2 (fat, oil, sauces, or chocolate)
1. Same procedure as for type I stains.
2. Finish by rubbing the wheel with absorb- ent paper or a towel.
Type 3 (dry soil or dust)
1. Remove the soil/dust with a soft brush.
2. Same procedure as for type I stains.
CAUTION
Sharp objects, such as rings, could dam- age the leather on the steering wheel.
Cleaning the seat beltsClean only with lukewarm water and a mild soap solution.
Cleaning floor matsThe floor mats should be vacuumed orbrushed clean regularly, especially duringwinter when they should be taken out for dry-

Accessing and using menus

In menu mode, you can change settings and program new functions in the audio system.The various menu alternatives are shown inthe display, and the current level in the menustructure is shown at the upper right corner ofthe display. Press the
MENU button to enter menu mode.
Use the menus as follows:
• Use the menu arrow keys (1) to navigate up or down in the menus. Dots in the dis-play indicate that there are more menuselections from which to choose.
• Press
ENTER to confirm or cancel a
menu selection. •
One long press on
EXIT/CLEAR exits
menu mode.
• A short press on the
EXIT/CLEAR ena-
bles you to cancel, undo, or answer no toa menu selection, or to go back in themenu structure.
Shortcut
The menu alternatives are numbered and can be accessed directly by pressing the respec-tive keys on the numbered keypad on the leftside of the audio panel.
MY KEY – programming a shortcut
Use the MY KEY button to program a favorite
function from the menu, such as RANDOM,
etc.
1. Use the MENU buttons to scroll among
the functions.
2. Select the desired function from the menu by pressing the MY KEY button for more
than two seconds.
3. When
MY KEY STORED is shown in the
display, the function has been stored.
4. Activate the function by briefly pressing the MY KEY button.
Repeat steps 1 – 4 to store new functions on the MY KEY buttons.

Station search

1. Choose radio mode AM/FM1/FM2 usingthe SELECTOR control (3) or the AM/FM
button (1).

for the next strong station. The radio will search for the next audible station andthen stop.

Storing stations
To store a selected station under one of the station setting buttons 0 – 9 (2):
1. Set the desired station.
2. Press the button under which the station is to be stored and keep it depressed. The sound will be interrupted for several seconds and
