1-F-27 The DB AR1 may then be winched onto a transporter or towed to a safe
location using a rope, provided that the following precautions are observed:
Transporting
If the vehicle is to be transported on a trailer or flat bed transporter, the
handbrake must be applied and the wheels chocked. Vehicles fitted with
Touchtronic transmission must have the gear selector lever moved to N or
D but NEVER in P. The parking lock may be damaged if the vehicle is
transported with the gear selector lever in P.
Four tie-down brackets are provided, two on each axle. These are NOT
suitable for solid bar towing.

Vehicles with Defective Touchtronic Transmission
The vehicle must be carried on a transporter or towed with the rear wheels
clear of the ground (see suspended towing) or towed with the propeller shaft
disconnected at the final drive input flange. If the propeller shaft is
disconnected, it must be firmly secured away from the final drive flange.

Suspended Towing
Do NOT tow with sling-type equipment since damage to the bodywork may
result.
Take care when using 'spectacle frame' type towing equipment that the
towing device is well clear of the front or rear apron. Body damage may
occur if the vehicles pass over uneven road surfaces.
Adhere to Towing Regulations
In certain countries the registration number of the towing vehicle and an ON
TOW sign or warning triangle must be displayed in a prominent position at
the rear of the vehicle being towed.
Front Suspended Tow
Caution: To prevent body damage ensure an adequate clearance is
maintained between the car body and (1) the ground and (2) the 'spectacle
frame' of the towing vehicle while your car is being towed.
1. Remove the ignition key from the ignition.
2. Vehicles with manual transmission: Place the gear lever in neutral.
Vehicles with automatic transmission:
Disconnect the propeller shaft at the final drive input flange.
Ensure that the propeller shaft is firmly secured away from the final drive
input flange.

WARNINGS:
To help avoid personal injury, do not use open flame, smoke, or cause an electric
spark when checking the battery, as gas generated by the battery is flammable
and can explode. Always shield your eyes and avoid leaning over the battery.
Do not ingest battery acid or fumes. If battery acid is ingested, drink large
quantities of water or milk followed by milk of magnesia, beaten egg or vegetable
oil. Call for medical assistance immediately.
Do not let battery acid come into contact with skin, eyes, hair, fabric or painted
surfaces. A solution of warm soapy water and baking soda may help neutralise
acid.
Used batteries contain sulphuric acid, lead and other potentially hazardous
materials. Dispose of unwanted batteries in authorised waste disposal facilities.
DO NOT discard unwanted batteries in household waste.
Quiescent Battery Drain
Any power drain from a battery after the ignition is switched off is referred
to as 'quiescent battery drain'. Your DB AR1, in common with many modern,
high technology motor cars, contains electronic circuits and sub-systems
which must be left activated at all times. For example, the clock, security
systems and in-car entertainment system continue to drain battery power
even with the ignition switched off. This quiescent drain will discharge a fully
charged new battery in approximately 30 days unless recharged by normal
engine running or an independent battery charger.
It is therefore vital that, when leaving your car unused for extended
periods, you use the battery disconnect switch to minimise quiescent
drain and that you use the battery conditioner to maintain battery
charge level.

The Battery Disconnect Switch
The battery disconnect switch is located in the R/H side wall trim panel of
the boot. When actuated, power to all control modules is disconnected and
only ‘keep alive memory’ power is maintained. Thus the quiescent power
drain on the battery is greatly reduced.
To maintain the battery charge level, press the battery disconnect switch and
use the battery conditioner to charge the battery whenever the vehicle is to
be out of use for some days.
If the battery disconnect function is used in conjunction with the battery
conditioner, the vehicle may be stored for many months without additional
battery maintenance.
Caution: The vehicle security systems will be totally disabled when the battery
disconnect switch is used. The vehicle will be secured only by the mechanical door
locks. Ensure that the vehicle is stored in a secure location.
Caution: Close and lock the doors before disconnecting the battery. The door window
seals will be damaged if the door is closed or opened when the battery is disconnected.

Headlight Main Beam Bulb Replacement
1. Lift the bonnet.
2. Turn the lamp rear cap anti-clockwise and release it.
3. Pull off the two electrical leads from the headlight bulb connectors.
4. Pinch the bulb retaining clip and release it.
5. Withdraw the headlight bulb, noting the bulb orientation.
6. Hold the new bulb in a clean cloth or paper towel. Orientate the new
bulb correctly in the headlight bulb holder and secure it with the spring
clip.
7. Connect the two electrical leads.
8. Refit and secure the lamp rear cover.

Headlight Dipped Beam Bulb Replacement
The dipped beam lights are accessed through panels in the wheel arch liners.
1. Turn the steering to the opposite lock to the defective light (i.e. full right
lock to access the left dipped beam light and vice versa).
2. Using a screwdriver from the tool kit, release the quarter turn fastener on
the access cover in the wheel arch liner and remove the cover.
3. Remove and replace the bulb following the instructions for the main
beam on the previous page.
4. Refit and secure the access cover.

Front Indicator Lights / Front Fog Lights / Front Parking Lights
1. Using the screwdriver from the tool kit, remove three screws and remove
the lamp assembly from the front apron.
2. If preparing to replace the front fog lamp (C), release the rubber seal from
the lamp housing.
3. Turn the appropriate bulb holder (Indicator - A, Parking Lamp - B, Fog
Lamp - C) a quarter turn anticlockwise and remove it.
4. Pull the defective bulb from the bulb holder and fit the replacement
bulb.
5. Refit the bulb holder to the lamp assembly and, if necessary, refit the
rubber seal to the fog lamp
6. Refit the lamp assembly to the car and secure with three screws.

Rear Lights - (Indicators, Stop/Rear)
The indicators and stop/rear lights are contained in two clusters, one either
side of the car. The replacement technique for all rear light bulbs is similar.
1. Remove the boot trim panel.
2. Remove two knurled nuts and withdraw the blub holder.
3. Push and rotate the blub a quarter of a turn anti-clockwise. Withdraw
from bulb holder.
NOTE: The stop/rear light bulb has two filaments and offset bayonet pins. Ensure
correct orientation when fitting.
4. Insert the new bulb. Push and rotate bulb a quarter of a turn clockwise.
5. Place the bulb holder back to the light cluster and secure with the two
knerled nuts. Install the boot trim.

Rear Interior Quarter Lights
1.Insert a small screwdriver into the
lever slot in the light lens and lever
out the lens assembly.
2.Remove the defective bulb from its
clips and replace with a new one.
3.Press the light lens assembly back
into its housing until it clips into
position.
Front Interior Lights
1. Release the quarter turn fastener on the front interior light assembly and
lower the assembly from the roof liner.
2. To replace an interior light festoon bulb, pull the defective bulb from its
clips and insert a new one.
3. To replace a map reading light bulb, swing the bulb contact away from
the bulb. Lift out the defective bulb and fit a replacement. Swing the bulb
contact back to its original position.
4. Refit the light assembly to the roof lining and secure by turning the
quarter turn fastener clockwise.
