level of a warning

There is a malfunction in the brake booster if this
message appears. The bra ke booste r is ava ilab le,
but its effectiveness is red uced. Brak ing behavior
may be d ifferent from how it normally funct ions
a nd the bra ke pedal may v ibrate .

On-board computer display
The on-board computer display monitors the dif­
ferent memory levels:
- Sho rt-term memory (on-board computer 1)
- Long-term memory (on-boa rd computer 2)
- Efficiency program
The following information can be displayed con­
secutively in the on-board computer:
- Tim e
- Date
- Estimated range based on current fuel level
- Estimated range based on current Ad Blue* level
- T ravel time
- Average consumption
- Average speed
- Distance
- Current fuel consumption
- Engine oil temperature indicator*
On-board computer O (short-term memory)
The short-term memory collects driving informa­
tion from the t ime the ignition is switched on un­
til it is switched off. If you cont inue dr iv ing
with­
in two hours
after switching the ignition off, the
new values are included when calculat ing the cur­
rent trip information. If stopped for more the
two hours, the short term memory is automati­
cally eras ed once you begin driving .
On-board computer fJ (long-term memory)
Unlike the short-term memory, the long-term
memory is not erased automat ically. Yo u can se­
l ect the time period for evaluating trip informa­
tion yourself .

- Th e on-board computer is controlled by the
left button fields on the multifunction
steering whee l.
- For information on using the other button
fields, such as the audio, telephone* and

- Disconnecting the battery causes all the
memory data to be erased .

Unlocking/locking w ith the key
In the event that the power locking system fails,
the driver's door can locked and unlocked using
the door lock.

When locking the vehicle with the central locking
switch, the following applies:
- Opening the door and the luggage compart­
ment lid from the
outside is not possible (for
security such as when stopped at a light).
- The LED in the central locking switch turns on
when all doors are closed and locked .
- Front doors: you can open the doors individual­
ly from the inside by pulling the door handle.
- Rear doors: pu ll on the door hand le
once to un­
lock the door. Pull on the door handle
again to
open the door .
- In the event of a crash with a irbag deployment ,
the doors unlock automat ically to allow access
to the vehicle.
_&. WARNING
-The power locking switch works with the ig ­
nition off and automatically locks the entire
vehicle when the
1§) button is pressed.
- The central locking switch is inoperative
when the vehicle is locked from the outside.
- Locked doors make it more difficult for
emergency workers to get into the vehicle,
which puts lives at risk. Do not leave anyone
behind in the vehicle, especially children.

Your vehicle will lock automatically at a speed
of 9 mph (15 km/h)

A WARNING
-Never close the windows or panorama sun­
roof* careless ly or in an uncontrolled man­
ner, because this increases the risk of injury .
- For security reasons, the windows can only
be opened with the remote control key at a
maximum d istance of approximately 6 feet
(2 mete rs) from the vehicle.
- Pay attention when using the lock cylinder
to close the windows and the panorama
s u nroof* so that no one is pinched. Closing
stops when the key is moved into the start­
ing position .
Correcting power window malfunctions
-
After disconnecting the vehicle battery, the one­
touch up and down feature must be activated
again.
.. Pull the power window sw itch until the w indow
is comp letely raised.
... Release the sw itch and pull it agai n for at least
one second.
Panorama roof

The button has two stages . In the second stage,
the roof automatically runs to the end position
(open/closed) when the button is operated brief­
ly. The movement can be stopped by pressing the
button.
@ Tilting and sliding
.. To tilt the sunroof completely, press the switch
briefly to the second level.
.. To close the roof completely, pull the button
down briefly to the second level or s lide the
button forward briefly to the second level

.. To select an intermediate position, press/pu ll
the switch in the first level until the desired po­
sition is reached .

.. To open the sunroof completely, slide the but­
ton back to just befo re the second level.
.. To close the roof complete ly, push the button

the desired position is reached.
A wind def lector integrated in the panorama sun­
roof adapts automatically to the sunroof posi­
tion. Th is reduces wind noise to a minimum in all
panorama s unroof positions.
You can sti ll operate the panorama sunroof for
about 10 minutes after the ignit ion is switched
off. The switch is deactivated once the driver's or
front passenger's door is opened.
Sun blind
The sun shade can be opened and closed manual­
l y, depending on the position of the panorama
sunroof. The sun s hade can be opened partially.
A WARNING
Be caref ul when closing the panoramic sun­
roof - otherwise serious injury could result! Al­
ways take the ignition key with you when leav-
-
ing the veh icle. ti,.

- You should not dr ive your ve hicle or press
the windshie ld wiper lever when the wiper
a rms are fo lded away from the windshield.
The windshield wipers would move back in­
to the ir o rig inal position and could damage
the hood and w indshield.
- To prevent damage to t he windshie ld wash­
er system, a lways loosen wiper blades that
have frozen to the w indshield before turn­
i ng the wipers on .
- To preve nt damage to the wiper b lades, do
not apply gasol ine, pet roleum, thinning

- T o prevent damage to the wiper arms or
other components, do not try to move the
windshield wipe rs by hand.

- C ommercial hot wax s uch a s the types used
by car washes make it more diffic ult to
clean the w indshie ld .
- You can also use the service pos it ion, for ex ­
amp le, if you want to protect the winds hield
from icing by using a cover.
- You cannot activate the service posit ion
when the hood is open .

Cigarette lighter

The cigarette lighter should only be used as a
power source when it is absol utely necessary.
A WARNING
The cigarette lighter only works when the ig­
ni tion is switched on. Inco rrect usage can lead
to serious inj uries or burns. To reduce the ris k
of injuries, never leave children unattended in
the vehicle with the vehicle key .

- To red uce the risk of damage to the sockets,
only use plugs that fit correctly .
- T he ciga rette lighte r socket should only be
used as a powe r source fo r electr ical acces­
sories for a short pe riod of time. The sock­
ets* in the vehicle should be used for longe r
use of power supply .
(D Tips
The vehicle battery dra ins when accessories
are tu rned on but the engine is off.

A WARNING
Spilled hot liquid can increase the risk of acci­
dents and injuries.
- Never drive with containers that contain hot
liquid such as coffee or tea. The hot liquid
could spill and cause burns during a colli­
sion, sudden braking or other vehicle move­
ment. Spilled hot liquid can also increase
the risk of accidents and injuries.
- Only use soft containers in the cup holders .
Hard cups and glasses can increase the risk
of injury during a collision.
- Never use the cup holder or the adapter as
an ashtray - this is a fire hazard.
(D Note
Beverage containers in the cup holders should
always have a lid . Otherwise, beverages could
spill and cause damage to vehicle equipment
or stain the seat covers.

Opening/closing
.. To open the glove compartment, pull the han­
dle in the direction of the arrow.
.. To close the glove compartment , swing the lid
upward until it clicks into place .
The glove compartment can be locked using the
vehicle key .
A WARNING
Always leave the lid on the glove compart­
ment cover closed while driving to reduce the
risk of injury.
Seats and storage
Additional storage compartments
There are additional storage compartments,
compartments and holders at other locations in
the vehicle:
- In the upper part of the glove compartment.
- In the center console under the center arm -
rest* .
- On the back of the right front seat . The com­
partment* can hold a maximum weight of 2 lbs
(1 kg) .
- Garment hooks on the B -pillar

A WARNING ,~ -- Do not place any objects on the instrument
panel. Objects that are not stored securely
can slide around in the vehicle while driving ,
when accelerating or braking or when turn­
ing.
- Make sure that objects cannot fall out of the
center console storage compartment or oth­
er compartments and into the footwell
while driving. These objects could prevent
you from braking or accelerating during
sudden braking maneuvers.
- Garments hung on the hooks must not ob­
struct the driver's view . The garment hooks
are only designed for light objects. Do not hang any garments with hard, sharp or
heavy objects in the pockets on the garment
hooks . These objects could injure vehicle oc­
cupants during sudden braking or in a colli­
sion -especially if the airbags deploy .
-Always keep the glove compartment closed
while driving to reduce the risk of injury dur­
ing a collision or heavy braking .
- Read and following the WARNINGS in
¢ page 204, Important safety instructions
on the side airbag system.
- Hang garments so that they do not obstruct
the driver's view .
- The garment hooks should only be used for
light articles of clothing. Do not leave any
heavy or sharp-edged objects in the pockets
that could interfere with the side airbags
unfolding and cause injuries in the event of
a collision.

- Do not use coat hangers to hang garments,
because th is could reduce the effect iveness
of the side curtain airbags.
- Do not hang any heavy objects on the gar­
ment hooks, because they could cause injury
during heavy braking.
- Beca use of their load capac ity, the hooks
should only be used to secure objects that
weigh a maximum of 10 lbs (5 kg). Heavy
objects w ill not be secured suff ic iently, and
this increases the risk of injury.

Luggage compartment cover

The luggage compartment cover prevents the
view into the luggage compartment.

cover is lined up.

-To prevent accidents, never install the lug­
gage compartment cove r unsec ured.
- The luggage compartment cover is not a
surface for storing objects. Objects placed
on the cover increase the r isk of injury to all
vehicle occupa nts dur ing sudden bra king
mane uvers o r when i nvo lved in an accident .

-The backrest must be latched securely to
e nsu re that the safety belt is p rotecti ng the
center seating position .
- The bac krest must be securely latched so
objects cannot slide fo rward out of the lug­
gage compartment during sudde n braking .
- Always make su re the backrest is latched
completely by pull ing fo rwa rd on it .
- Make sure the safety belt is not caught in
the door hinges or the seat fittings and
damaged.
- To rn or frayed safety be lts can break, and
be lt anchors can b reak dur ing a col lision .
C heck the safety be lts regu la rly. Safety
be lts wi th noticeable damage to the we b­
b in g, b indings, bu ckles or ret ra cto rs m ust
be repla ced.

- If you move the front seat back when the
rear seat backrest is fo lded fo rwa rd, yo u
c o ul d d am age the head restra in ts on t he
rear sea t. If necessary, remove the rear sea t
head restraint be fore mov ing the front seat
back
- Make sure the sa fe ty belt is not pinche d in
the back rest lock a nd damage d when the
rear seat backrest if folded back . Othe r ob­
jects should be removed from the rear
bench seat to protect the rear backrest from
damage .
