Panoramic glass roof
Description
Applies to: vehicles with panoramic glass roof

The button has two stages. In the second stage,
the roof automatically runs to the end position
(open/closed) when the button is operated brief-
ly. The operation will stop if the button is press-
ed/pulled again.
@ Tilting/sliding
> To tilt the sunroof completely, press the switch
briefly to the second level.
> To close the roof completely, pull the button
down briefly to the second level or slide the
button forward briefly to the second level

> To select an intermediate position, press/pull
the switch in the first level until the desired po-
sition is reached.
Opening/closing
> To open the sunroof completely, slide the but-
ton back to just before the second level.
> To close the roof completely, push the button
forward briefly to the second level or pull the
button down briefly to the second level > A\.
> To select an intermediate position, press/pull
the switch forward/back in the first level until
the desired position is reached.
Sunshade
The sunshade can be opened and closed manual-
ly, depending on the position of the panoramic
glass roof. The sunshade can be opened partially.

ZX WARNING
To reduce the risk of injury, always pay atten-
tion when closing the panoramic glass roof.
Always switch the ignition off when leaving
the vehicle and always take the vehicle key
with you.
@®) Note
Always close the panoramic glass roof when
leaving your vehicle. Rain can cause damage
to the interior equipment of your vehicle, par-
ticularly the electronic equipment.
iG) Tips
— For information about convenience open-
ing/closing, see > page 34.
— You can still operate the panoramic glass
roof for about 10 minutes after the ignition
is switched off. The switch is deactivated
once the driver's or front passenger's door is
opened.
— The panoramic glass roof can only be
opened when the temperature is warmer
than -4 °F (-20 °C).
Panoramic glass roof emergency closing
Applies to: vehicles with panoramic glass roof


If the panoramic glass roof detects resistance or
an object in its path while closing, the roof will
open again automatically. If the sunroof fails to
close after removing the object and after trying
to close a second time, you can perform an emer-
gency closing.
> Within five seconds after the sunroof opens au-
tomatically, pull the switch until the roof
closes.
If you release the switch early, the panoramic
glass roof will open again.

Be very careful when adjusting the seats to
avoid damaging the head restraints, headlin-
er, or sunroof*.
Front center armrest
Applies to: vehicles with a front center armrest
The front center armrest is located between the
front seats.
Adjusting the center armrest
The settings depend on the vehicle equipment.
> To adjust the armrest forward or backward,
move the armrest in the desired direction.
> To adjust the angle, raise the armrest in stages.
> To move the armrest back into the original posi-
tion, raise it slightly out of the top level and
fold it downward.

ZA\ WARNING
In certain positions, the front center armrest
can interfere with the driver’s arm movement,
which increases the risk of injury.

Head restraints
Proper adjustment of head restraints
Applies to: vehicles with adjustable head restraints
Correctly adjusted head restraints are an impor-
tant part of your vehicle's occupant restraint sys-
tem and can help to reduce the risk of injuries in
accident situations.

The head restraints must be correctly adjusted to
achieve the best protection.

> Adjust the head restraint so the upper edge is
as even as possible with the top of your head. If
that is not possible, try to adjust the head re-
straint so that it is as close to this position as
possible.
> Applies to: forward/back adjustable head re-
straints: Move the head restraint so that it is as
close to the back of the head as possible.
> If there is a passenger on the rear center seat-
ing position, slide the center head restraint up-
ward at least to the next notch.

ZA WARNING
All seats are equipped with head restraints.
Driving without head restraints or with head
restraints that are not properly adjusted in-
creases the risk of serious or fatal neck injury
dramatically. To help reduce the risk of injury:
— Always drive with the head restraints in
place and properly adjusted.
— Every person in the vehicle must have a
properly adjusted head restraint.
— Always make sure each person in the vehicle
properly adjusts their head restraint. Adjust
the head restraint so the upper edge is as
even as possible with the top of your head.
If that is not possible, try to adjust the head
restraint so that it is as close to this position
as possible.
— Applies to: forward/back adjustable head re-
straints: Move the head restraint so that it is
as close to the back of the head as possible.
— Never attempt to adjust head restraint while
driving. If you have driven off and must ad-
just the driver headrest for any reason, first
stop the vehicle safely before attempting to
adjust the head restraint.
— Children must always be properly restrained
in a child restraint that is appropriate for
their age and size > page 278.

Voice recognition system

Voice recognition system
General information
Applies to: vehicles with voice recognition system
You can operate many functions in the vehicle
easily using voice commands.
Using the voice recognition system optimally
> Speak clearly and distinctly at a normal volume.
Speak louder when driving faster.
> Emphasize the words in the commands evenly
and do not leave long pauses.
> Close the doors, the windows, and the sunroof*
to reduce background noise. Make sure that
passengers are not speaking when you are giv-
ing a voice command.
> Do not direct the vents toward the hands-free
microphone, which is in the roof headliner near
the front interior lights.
> Only the driver should speak to the system, be-
cause the handsfree microphone is aimed to-
ward this seating position.

ZA\ WARNING
— Direct your full attention to driving. As the
driver, you have complete responsibility for
safety in traffic. Only use the functions in
such a way that you always maintain com-
plete control over your vehicle in all traffic
situations.
— Do not use the voice recognition system in
emergencies because your voice may change
in stressful situations. The system may take
longer to dial the number or may not be
able to dial it at all. Dial the emergency
number manually.

G) Tips
There are no voice guidance* prompts when a
dialog is active.
Operating
Applies to: vehicles with voice recognition system
Requirement: the ignition and the MMI must be
switched on. A system language supported by
the voice recognition system must be set. There

must be no phone calls in progress and the park-
ing aid must not be active.

> Switching on: press the [2] button (2)
> page 19, fig. 13 or @) > page 20, fig. 15
briefly on the multifunction steering wheel and
say the desired command after the Beep.
> Switching off: press and hold the |] button,
‘OF:
> Press the |] button.
> Pausing: say the command Pause. To resume,
press the |%] button.
> Correcting: say the command Correction.






Input assistance
The system guides you through the input with
visual and audio feedback.
— Visual input assistance: after switching on
voice recognition, a display with a selection of
possible commands appears. This command
display can be switched on or off. Select:
MENU] button > Settings > left control button
> MMI settings > Speech dialog system.
— Audio input assistance: to have the possible
commands read, turn the voice recognition sys-
tem on and say Help.

@) Tips
— The dialog pauses when there is an incom-
ing phone call and will continue if you ig-
nore the call. The dialog ends if you answer
the call.
— You can select an item in the list using ei-
ther the voice recognition system or the
control knob.
