Boost ind icator

The boost indicator is only shown in the expand­
ed view or in the sport view*

The current engine load (meaning the current
boost pressure) is indicated by a bar .
Tachometer
The tachometer displays the engine speed in rev­
olutions per minute (RPM) .
The beginning of the red zone in the tachometer
indicates the maximum pe rm iss ible engine speed
for all gears once the engine has been broken in and when it is wa rmed up to ope rating tempera­
ture. Before reaching the red zone, yo u should
shift in to the next higher gear, choose the Do r S
selector leve r posit ion, or remove your foot from
the accelerator peda l.

CD Note
Neve r drive until the tank is comp letely emp­
ty. The irreg ular supply of fuel t hat res ults
from that can cause engine misfires . Un com ­
b usted fue l wi ll then enter the exhaust sys­
tem . This can cause overheating and damage
to the catalyt ic converter.

Trip odometer and odometer
The trip odometer shows the dis tance driven
since it was last reset. It can be used to measure
sho rt d ista nces.

The odometer shows the total distance that the
vehicle has been driven.
Malfunction indicator
If there is a malfunction in the instrument clus­
ter,
DEF will appear in the trip odome ter disp lay.
Have the malfu nction corrected as soon as possi­
ble.
Outside temperature display
If your vehicle is stationary or if you are driv ing at

The short-term memory collects driving informa­
tion from the t ime the ignition is switched on un ­
til it is switc hed off. If you cont inue driv ing with­
in two hours after switching the ignition off, the
new values are in clu ded when calculat ing the cur­
rent tr ip informat ion.
Unlike the short-term memory, the long-term memory is not erased automat ica lly . You can se­
lect the time period fo r evaluat ing trip informa­
tion you rself .
Fuel consumption
The cu rrent fuel consumption can be shown us­
ing a bar graph
c:> fig. 14 . The average consump­
tion stored in the short-te rm memory is also dis-

played. If the bar is green, your vehicle is saving
fuel through the following function:
- Re cup eration : electrical energy can be stored in
the vehicle battery when the vehicle is coast ing
or dr iving downh il l. T he bar will move toward
0.
Energy consumers*
The Energ y consum ers v iew lists othe r equip­
ment that is cu rrent ly affecting fue l cons ump­
tion . The d isplay shows up to three energy con­
s u mers . The equipment using the most power is
li sted first . If more than three items using power
are switched on, the equipment that is current ly
us ing the most power is displayed. A chart also
shows you the current total of all other consum­
ers .

til it is switched off . If you continue driving with­
in two hours after switching the ignition off, the
new values are included when calculat ing the cur­
rent tr ip informat ion.

Efficiency program ii
Applies to: vehicles with efficiency program
The efficiency program can help you to use less
fuel.
It evaluates driving information in reference
Cockpit overview
to fuel consumption and shows other equipment
influencing consumption. Economy tips provide
advice for efficient driving.
T he eff iciency program receives distance and con­
sumption data from the short -term memory. If
the data in the efficiency program is deleted, the
val ues in the short-term memory are a lso reset.
T he following additional displays may be availa­
ble in the eff ic iency p rogram , depending on vehi­
cle equipment :
-Other equipment : other equipm ent that is cur­
rently affecting fu el consumption is listed in
the efficiency program . The display shows up to
three other equipment items. The equipment
using the most power is listed first. If more
than three items using power are sw itched on,
the equipment that is currently using the most
power is displayed . A chart also shows you the
current total of all other consume rs .
- Economy tips : in certain s ituations, economy
tips appear automatically for a short time in
the efficiency program.
If you follow these
economy tips, you can reduce your vehicle's fuel
consumption. To turn an economy message off
immed iate ly after it appears, p ress any button
on the multifunction steer ing whee l.

Radio

Warm and cold
Warm and cold Climate control system
Description
The climate control system circulates, warms or
cools, and removes humid ity from the air in the
veh icle inter ior .
It is the most effective when the
windows and panorama glass roof* or power top*
are closed. If there is a build-up of heat inside
the vehicle, ventilation can help to speed up the
cooling process.
Pollutant filter
The pollutant filter removes pollutants such as
dust and pollen from the a ir.
Key recognition
Various settings are stored and assigned to the
remote control key be ing used .
These settings are different when the power top* is open or closed .
Presetting
Several functions can be preset in the Infotain­
ment system.
Select in the Infotainment system:

A WARNING
Poor visibility can lead to accidents .
- For safer driving, keep all windows free of
ice, snow and fog.
- Become familiar with the correct use and
function of the climate control system as
quickly as possible, especially with the de­
frosting and defogging functions.
- When the temperature is below freezing, only use the windshield washer system after
70
the windshield has been warmed by the cli­
mate control system. The washer fluid could
freeze on the windshield and impair visibili­
ty .

-If you suspect that the climate control sys­
tem is damaged, switch the system off to
prevent further damage and have it checked
by an authorized Audi dealer or authorized
Audi Service Facility.
- Repairs to the Audi climate control system
require special technical knowledge and
special tools . See an authorized Aud i dealer
or authorized Aud i Service Facility .
@ For the sake of the environment
-To save fuel, turn off the climate control
system cooling mode by press ing the A/C
button. This will also reduce emissions . The
climate control system is off when the LED
in the button turns off.
- In vehicl es w ith the efficiency prog ram*,
you can find other consumption information
and more economy tips <=? page 19.
(D Tips
- T o prevent interference with the heating
and cooling output and to prevent the win­
dows from fogging over, the a ir intake in
front of the windshie ld must be free of ice,
snow or leaves.
- Condensation from the cooling system* can
drip and form a pudd le of water under the
vehicle. This is norma l and does not mean
there is a leak.
- The energy management system may tem­
porarily switch off certain functions, such as
the seat heating* or rear window defogger.
These systems are available again as soon
as the energy supply has been restored.

The adaptive cru ise control system is a comb ina­
tion of speed and dis tance regu lation.
It ass ists
the d river by both regulating the speed and
maintaining a distance to the vehicle driving
ahead, within the limits of the system. If the sys­
tem detects a vehicle driving ahead, the adaptive
cruise contro l can brake and accelerate your vehi­
cle. Th is increases driving comfort during long
trips on highways and in stop-and-go traffic.
What can adaptive cruise control do?
The adaptive cruise control system uses radar.
The radar is sub ject to designated system lim its
q poge 127.
On open roads with no traffic, it functions like a
cruise contro l system. The stored speed is main­
tained. When approaching a vehicle ahead and
the system detects it, the adapt ive cru ise control
system automatically brakes to match that ob­
ject's speed and then maintains the stored dis­
tance. As soon as the system does not detect a
vehicle driving ahead, adaptive cruise contro l ac­
celerates up to the stored speed.
Within the limits of the system, adaptive cruise control can brake in stop-and-go traffic until the
vehicle is stat ionary and then begin driving agai n
under certain
