Turn the knob to the desi red position :
Q/P -In t his position , you can adjust the
d river's and front passenger's exter ior mirro rs
by turn ing the knob in the des ired direc tion.
(jjjl -The m irrors are h eated depending on the
outside temperatu re.

To help you see the curb when backing into a
pa rking space, the surface of the m irror t ilts
slig htly . The knob m ust be in the
P posit ion
for this to happen .
You can ad just the ti lted mirro r surface by
turning the knob in the desired direction .
When you move out of reverse and into ano th­
e r gear, t he new mirror posi tion is stored and
assigned to the key you are using .
The mir ro r goes bac k into its origina l posit io n
once yo u drive forward f aste r tha n 9 mph
(1 5 km/h) or switch the ignition off .
_& WARNING
Curved mirror s urfaces (convex or spheri ­
cal *) increase your field of view . Remem­
ber that vehicles or other objects will ap­
pear smaller and farther away than when
seen in a flat m irror. If you use this mirror
to estimate distances of following veh icles
when c hanging lanes , you co uld estimate
incorrectly and ca use an accident .
{CT) Note
- If you wash the vehicle in an automatic
ca r wash, you must fold t he exterior m ir­
r o rs in to reduce the r is k of damage to
the mirrors .

Electro lyte fluid can leak from automatic
d imm ing mirrors if the glass is b roken .
E lec trolyte fluid can irritate skin, eyes a nd
r espirato ry system.
- Repeated or prolonged expos ure to e lec­
trolyte can cause irritation to the respira­
t ory syste m, especially among people
with asthma or o ther resp irator y condi­
tions . Ge t fresh air immediately by leav­
ing the vehicle o r, if that is no t possib le,
open windows and doors all the way.
- If electroly te gets into the eyes, fl ush
them thorough ly with large amounts of
clean water fo r at least 15 minutes;
medical attention is recommended.
- If electrolyte contacts skin, fl ush affect­
ed area with clean water fo r at least 15
minutes and then wash affected area
with soap and water; medical attention
is recommended. Thoroughly wash af­
fected cloth ing and shoes before reuse.

-If swallowed and person is conscious ,
r inse mouth with wate r for at least 15
minutes . Do not induce vom iting unless
inst ructed to do so by medical professio­
nal. Get medical at tention immediately .

Liquid electro lyte leaking from broken mir ­
ror glass will damage any plastic surfaces
it comes i n contact with . Clean up spilled
electrolyte immed iately w ith clean water
and a sponge .

-Switch ing off the dimming function of
the inside rear view m irror also deact i­
vates the automat ic d imm ing f unction of

- Automat ic dimming for the m irror only
operates properly i f the sun shade* f or
the rear window is no t in use o r the light
str iking the ins ide mir ro r i s no t hindered
by other objects .
- The au tomati c dimm ing mirro rs do no t
dim when the interio r lighting is turned
on or the reverse gear is se lec ted.

th inner, or other solvents on or near the
wiper blades.

- Commercial hot waxes applied by auto­
matic car washes affect the how easily
the glass surface can be cleaned .
- You can also use the service position, for
example, if you want to protect the
windshield from icing by using a cover .
Digital compass
Switching the compass on and off

The digital compass only works when the igni ­
tion is on. The directions are indicated with
abbreviations :
N (north), NE (northeast), E

To prevent inaccurate compass readings,
do not bring any remote controls, electri- ca
l devices or metallic objects near the
mirror .
Adjusting the magnetic zone
Applies to vehicles: with digital compass
The magnetic zone must be adjusted correctly
for the compass to read accurately.

Calibrating the compass

You must recalibrate the compass if it does
not display the correct direction .

until a direction is displayed in the rearv iew
mirror.

Install ing the head restraints
.,. Slide the posts on the head restra int down
into the guides un til you feel the posts click
into place.

head restraint all the way down. You sho uld
not be able to pull the head restra int out of
the backrest .
So that the driver can have a better view to
the rear, the head restraints should be pushed
down complete ly when the rear seats are not
occupied.

Seat memory
Description
Applies to vehicles: wit h memory fu nctio n
The memo ry function a llows you to quickly
and eas ily s to re and reca ll personal seating
profiles for the dr iver. The memory func tion is
operated through the master key and the memory buttons in the driver's door .
The driver's seating profi le is stored and as­
signed to the master key each t ime the vehicle
is locked. The seating p rof ile is recalled auto­
matica lly when the vehicle is un locked. If two
peop le use one vehicle, it is recommended t
h at each person always uses "their own"
master key .
Up to 2 seat p rofiles can be stored i n the
memo ry but tons in the drive r's door . Once
they are stored, these seat profiles can be se­
lected at any time.
In add ition to the dr iver's se at settings, yo u
c a n a lso store and access the exterior mirror
adjus tment setti ngs * using the remote con­
tro l key or memory button.
Remote control key
Applies to veh icles: w it h seat memory
To assign the dr iver's seat settings to the re­
mote control key when locking the vehicle, the
funct ion must be act ivated in the radio or
MMI*

Addit ional storage
There are a variety of storage compa rtments
and fasteners in var ious places in the vehicle.
- In the roof headliner above the rearview
mirror .
- On the back of the front seat . The com pa rt­
ment can hold a maximum weight of 1 kg.
- On the left and right of the luggage com­
partment, behind the s ide trim.
- Garment hooks on the pillars in the rear of
the vehicle .
A WARNING
-When driving, do not leave any hard ob­
jects on the rear wi ndow shelf or allow
your pet to s it on the shelf. They could
become a hazard for ve hicle occ upan ts in
the event of sudden braking or a crash.
- Always remove objects from the instru­
ment pane l. Any items no t stored could
slide around inside the vehicle while driv­
ing or when accelerating or when apply­
ing the brakes or when driving around a
corner.
- When you are driving make sure that
anything you may have placed in the cen­
ter console or other storage locations cannot fall out into the footwells. In case
of sudden braking you would not be able
to brake or accelerate .
- Any articles of cloth ing that you have
hung up must not interfere with the driv­
er's v iew. The coat hooks are designed
only for lightweight clothing. Never hang
any clothing wit h hard, po inted or heavy
objects in the pockets on the coat hooks .
During sudden braking or in an accident -
especially if the airbag is deployed -
these objects could injure any passen­
gers inside the vehicle .
- To reduce the risk of persona l injury in an
acc ident or sudden stop, always keep the
glove compartment closed while dr iving.
- Read and fo llow all WARNINGS
i=> page 161, Important safety instruc­
tions on the side airbag system.
- Hang clothes in such a way that they do
not impa ir the driver's vision.
- The coat hooks must on ly be used for
lightweight clothing. Do not leave any
heavy or sharp edged objects in the pock­
ets which may interfere with the s ide cur­
tain airbag deployment and can cause pe rsonal injury in a crash.
- Do not use coat hangers for hanging
cloth ing o n the coat hooks as t his can in­
terfere with proper deployment of the
side curta in a irbags in an a ccident.
- Do not hang heavy objects on the coat
hooks , as they could cause personal in­
jury in a sudden stop.
- Always keep the compa rtment above the
rea rv iew mirror closed while d riving to
re duc e the risk of i nju ry in the event of
sudden b raking m aneuvers or a collision.

Objects located on the rear shelf that rub
against the rea r window could damage the

- A vent slot is located between the shelf
and the rear w indow. Do not bloc k the
vent wi th any items you may place o n the
rear window she lf.
- Do not place b ulky items on the rear win­
dow shelf as they co uld restrict or block
the drive r's vision in the rear view mirror.

detected and class ified as crit ical. The display

Warning st age
If you activate the turn signal, s ide assist
warns you about veh icles that are detected
and classified as critical. The display in the re ­
spective mirror blinks brightly . If this hap­
pens, check traff ic by glancing in the rearview
mirror and over your shoulder¢

-Improper reliance on the side assist sys­
tem can cause collisions and serious
personal injury:
- Never rely only on side assist when
changing lanes.
- Always check rear view mirrors to make
sure that it is safe to change lanes.
- Side assist cannot detect all vehicles un­
der all conditions- danger of accident!
- Please note that side assist indicates
there are approaching vehicles, or
vehicles in your blind spot, only after
your vehicle has reached a driving speed
of at least 19 mph (30 km/h).
- In certain situations, the system may not
function or its function may be limited.
For example:
- if vehicles are approaching or being left
behind very quickly. The display may
not turn on in time.
- in poor weather conditions such as
heavy rain, snow or heavy mist .
- on very wide lanes, in tight curves or if
there is a rise in the road surface .
Vehicles in the adjacent lane may not
be detected because they are outside
of the sensor range.
(D Note
The sensors can be displaced by impacts or
damage to the bumper, wheel housing and
underbody. This can affect the system .
Have your authorized Audi dealer or au­
thorized Audi Service Facility check their
function.

- If the window glass in the driver's door
or front passenger's door has been tint­
ed, the display in the exterior mirror may be misinterpreted.

Activating and deactivating

Adjusting the display brightness
Applies to vehicles: with side assist
The signal brightness can be set in the radio
orMMI* .

The display brightness adjusts automatically
to the brightness of the surroundings, both in
the information and in the warning stage . In
very dark or very bright surroundings, the dis­ play is already set to the minimum or maxi­
mum level by the automatic adjustment. In
such cases, you may notice no change when
adjusting the brightness, or the change may
only be noticeable once the surroundings
change.
Adjust the brightness to a level where the dis­
play in the information stage will not disrupt
your view forward. If you change the bright­
ness, the display in the exterior mirror will
briefly show the brightness level in the infor­
mation stage. The brightness of the warning
stage is linked to the brightness in the infor­
mation stage and is adjusted along with the
information stage adjustment.

The accuracy of the orientation lines and blue
surfaces diminis hes if:
- the rear view camera does not prov ide a re li­
able image, for examp le, in poor vis ibility
conditions or if the lens is dirty,
- the image on the screen is not visible due to
sun g lare and reflection .
Caring for th e rear view came ra lens
The rear view camera is located above the rear
license plate b racket . Fo r the pa rking assist to
ope rate, the lens,=:,
fig. 117 must be kept
clean:
- Dampen the lens with a househo ld alcohol­
based glass cleane r, and clean the lens with
a dry cloth

- Remove s now with a hand brush and ice
prefe rably with a de-icing spray

A WARNING
- T he pa rking aid cannot repla ce the dr iv­
er's attention. The driver a lone is respon­
sible for parking and similar driving ma­
neuvers .
- Always keep your eyes on the vehicle's
su rroundings, using the rear view mirror
as well.
- Do not a llow yourse lf to be d istracted
from traffic by the rear view camera pic­
tures.
- If the position and the installation ang le
of the camera has changed, fo r example,
after a rear end collision, do not continue
to use the system for safety reasons. Have it checked by a qua lified dealership.

- Low obstacles already signaled by a
warning can disappear from the system's
detection range as they are approached
and will not continue to be signaled . Ob­
jects such as barrier cha ins, trailer draw
bars, thin pa inted ve rtical po les o r fe n­
ces may not be detected by t he system,

- Never use warm or hot water to remove
s n ow or ice from the rear view camera

Switching on/off

view camera)
The rear view camera switches on automati­
cally together with the acoustic park assist
when you put the vehicle in reverse.
Switching on
"' Put the veh icle in reverse gear, the acoust ic
parking system with rear view camera is ac ­
tivated automat ica lly. Act ivat ion of the
acoust ic par king system is confirmed by a
brief ac knowledgement sou nd.
Switching off
"' Drive faster than 9 mph (15 km/h) , or
"' take the vehicle out of reverse gear . The
acoust ic park ing system is immediate ly de­
activated, and the rea r view came ra p icture
is deact ivated a utomat ically afte r a pe riod
o f abo ut 1 5 seconds , or
"' switch off the ignition.
T he de lay in deact ivat ing the came ra prov ides
an unin terrup ted view beh ind the ve hicle es­
pe cially when mane uver ing in tig ht park ing
spaces and prevents the picture from t urning
off the every time you shift out of reverse .
If the wa rning mess age ap pears in the dis play
but not the rea r view came ra p icture, read and
confirm the warni ng message. The acoustic
distance signal is always active .
If you press a fu nction button on the M MI
control console, the rea r view came ra p icture
disappears . The rear view camera picture reap­
pears the next time yo u pa rk.

In the MMI display, the d irection of travel
of the vehicle rear is represented depend­ ing on the steering wheel angle. The vehi­
cle front sw ings out more than the ve hicle
rear. Maintain plenty of distance from an
obstacle so that your o utside mirror or a
corne r of your veh icle does not co llide with
any obs ta cl es -danger of ac cident!
@ Tips
The left or right orientation li nes and sur­
faces wi ll be displayed, depending on the
t urn sig na l being used.
Adjusting the display and warning tones

The new ly adjusted value is briefly heard from
the signal gene rator. The sett ings a re auto­
mat ica lly stored and assigned to the remote
con trol key.
_& WARNING
- Alw ays m ake su re th at the volume and
freq uency of the warning tones is adjus t-
-
ed so that you can easily hear the acous­
tic d istance signa l even if the radio is
playing, the air-cond it ioner blower is on
H igh or there is a hig h level of outside
noise.
- Check the settings w henever someone
else has driven the vehicle before you.
(D Tips
- The warn ing tones can also be adjusted
directly from the rear view camera im­
age. Simply press the Settings* contro l
butto n.
- Changed settings are activated when
park ing ass ist is switc hed on aga in.
Error messages

If a warning tone is aud ible for about five sec­
onds when you turn on the ignition, there is a
malfunction in the system . Have the problem
cor rected by your author ized Audi dealer.
Keep the senso rs in the rear bumpe r clean and
free from ice so that the acoustic park assist
system can function properly.
