rate manual. •
Vehicle care Technical data

• If the LED in the upper edge of the driver's door panel comes on
for about 30 seconds after the vehicle is locked, there is a malfunc­
tion in the power locking or the anti-theft warning system . Have the
ma lfunct ion corrected by an authorized Audi dea lership or qualified
repair facility. •
Setting power locking
The driver con determine the functions for power locking
in the radio or in the MMI*.
In the Central locking menu you can dec ide which doors
should be unlocked when opening the vehicle .
- Press the
I CAR) function button.
- Select
Central locking . The Central locking menu
appears.
For example, if you switch the i tem Unlocking single door On , the
passenge r's door is no longer included in the power locking system,
and will not be unlocked by pressing the unlock button on the master
key remot e control.
You can cont in ue to unlock all the doors and the rear lid as before .
Press the opening button on the master key twice.
In addit ion to th is, the
Auto locking can be switched on and off.
When lockin g the vehicle, all doors and the trunk lid are locked auto­
matically.
If you switch
Trunk lid/tailgate On, then the handle on the rear lid
=>
page 47, fig. 39 is locked. In this case the rear lid can be opened
with the button
cs on the master key=> fig. 33. If the vehicle has the
Convenience key* feature, then the handle will continue to work even
if an valid key is near the prox imity sensor.
If you select
F old mirror s* On , the automatic outside m irror fold
function is activated - the outside mirrors fold when the locking
button on the remote master key is operated {I)=>

The sun visors for the driver and passenger can be pulled out of their
brackets in the center of t he veh icle and turned tow ards the the doors

Vanity m irror
The vanity mirrors on the sun visors are covered. When the lid is
opened @, the mir ror ligh t in the head line r tu rns o n automa tic ally.
It turns off when the lid is closed and the visor is folded up aga in .•

Move the wind shield w iper leve r to t he corresponding position :

(D -Interval mode . To extend/shorten t he wiper intervals, move the
switch @to the left/r ight . In ve hicles with a rain sensor*, the w ind­
shield wipers are activated automat ically starting at a speed of 2 mph
(4 km/h) . The higher the sensitivity of the ra in se nsor* is set (sw itch
@ to the right), the earlier the winds hield wipers react to moisture
on the w indshield .

for example with insects, carefully clean the wiper blades with a
s ponge or a soft brush .
• For your safety, you should replace the wiper blades once or
twice a year. See your authorized Audi dealer for replacement
blades.
0 Note
• The windshield wiper blades must only be replaced when in the
service position :::::, page 70! Otherwise, you risk damag ing the pa int
on the hood or the windsh ield w iper motor.
• T o help prevent damage to the wiper system, always loosen
blades which are frozen to the windshield before operating wipers.
• To help prevent damage to w iper blades, do not use gasoline,
kerosene, paint thinner, or other solvents on or near the wiper
blades.
• To help prevent damage to the wiper arms or other components,
do not attempt to move the wipers by hand .

Commercial hot waxes applied by automatic car washes affect the
how easily the glass surface can be cleaned. •

Manual glare-dimming
Standard setting
- Move the small lever (located on the bottom edge of the
mirror) to the front .
Anti-glare setting
- Move the small lever (located on the bottom edge of the
mirror) to the rear .•

off if required .

Automatic dimming function
The automatic dimming function is act ivated every time the ign ition
is turned on. The green indicator light is lit to indicate auto dimming
is active.
When dimming is activated, the inside mirror will darken
automati­
cally in response to the amount of light striking the mirror (suc h as ..

& WARNING
Broken glass of automatic dimming mirror can cause electrolyte
fluid leakage. Electrolyte fluid can irritate skin, eyes, and respira­
tory system.
• Repeated or prolonged exposure to electrolyte can cause irrita ­
tion to the respiratory system, especially among people with asthma or other respiratory conditions. Get fresh air immediately
by leaving the vehicle or, if that is not possible , open windows and
doors all the way.
• If electrolyte gets into the eyes, flush them thoroughly with
large amounts of clean water for at least 15 minutes; medical
attention is recommended.
• If electrolyte contacts skin, flush affected area with clean
water for at least 15 minute s and then wash affected area with
soap and water; medical attention is recommended. Tho roughly
wash affected clothing and shoes before reuse.
• If swallowed and person is conscious, rinse mouth with water
for at least 15 minutes. Do not induce vomiting unless instructed
to do so by medical professional. Get medical attention immedi­ ately .

(I) Tips
• If you switch off the automatic dimming function on the inside
mirror , automatic dimming of the outside mirrors will likewise be
disabled.
• Check to make sure there are no o bjects prevent ing lig ht from
reach ing the inside mirror.
• Do not attach any st ic kers to the w indshield in fro nt of t he lig ht
sensor, as thi s would interf ere with both the a utomatic operatio n of
the headlights a nd the automatic dimm ing of the inside mirror.•

Depend ing on the outs ide temperature, the mirror surfaces are
heated until the igni tion is sw itched off -even if the knob is no longe r
in posit io n @ .
You are we ll-advised to fold the o utside mirrors in when maneuvering
in tight spaces or when leaving the ca r pa rked close to other vehicles .
Memory for exterior mirrors*
On vehicles with memo ry fo r the d rive r's seat, the current sett ing for
the exter ior mirrors is automatically stored a long w it h the seat posi ­
tion=>
page 80 .
Tilt function for the passenger's mirror* (only with
memory for exterior mirrors)
W hen the reverse gear is engaged, the mir ror surface tilts downward
sl ightly if the setti ng is for the passenger 's mirror (knob in pos ition
® => page 73, fig. 79) . T h is allows you to see the curb during paralle l
par king.
The mirror returns to its init ial position as soon as reverse gear is
disengaged and ve hicl e speed is a bove about 9 mph (15 km/h). The
m irror also returns to its in itia l pos ition if the switch is moved to the
dr iver's ou tside mir ror © or the igni tion is sw itched off .
If the posi tion of t he mir ro r surface is changed on a ti lted mi rror, this
new position will be automat ically assigned to the remote key when
t he vehicle is ta ken ou t of reverse gear.
0 Note
Curved mirr or s urfa ces (c onvex o r sp her ica l*) increase your fie ld of
view. Remember that vehicles or other objects will appear smaller
a nd f arth er aw ay than when see n in a fla t m irror. If you use this
m irror to est imate d istances of following vehicles when changing
lanes, you co uld es timate incorre ct ly and ca u se an acciden t.
W Tips
If t here should be a ma lfunction in the elect rical system, you can still
adjust the outside mir rors by pressing the edge of the mirror .•

Automatic dimming for the outside
mirrors
The o utside mirrors dim at the same time as the ins ide mirror . When
the ignition is switched on, t he mi rrors a utomatically dim depend ing
on the a mount of light str ik ing t he m irrors (such as head lights
shining into the vehicle from the rear).
W hen the in ter io r li gh ting is switched on and whe n reverse gear is
engaged, the m irrors are switched back to their original brightness
(no t dimmed) .
& WARNING

plast ic surfaces it comes in contact with. Clean up spilled electro lyte
immediately with clear water and a sponge.

• Switching off the dimming function of the inside rearview
mirror also deactivates the automatic dimming function of the
exterior mirrors.
• Automatic dimming for the mirror only operates properly if the
light striking the inside mirror is not hindered by other objects. •

The direction is displayed on the interior rear view mirror.

- To activate or deactivate, hold the@button down until
the red display appears or disappears.
The digital compass only works with the ignition turned on. The direc­
tions are displayed as initials:
N (North), NE (Northeast), E (East), SE
(Southeast), S (South), SW (Southwest), W (West), NW (Northwest).
(I] Tips
To avoid inaccurat e directions, do not allow any remote controls ,
electrical systems, or metal parts close to the mirror. •

Setting the magnetic deflection zone
The correct magnetic deflection zone must be set in order
to display the directions correctly .

-Hold the@~ page 75, fig. 80 button down until the
number of the set magnetic deflection zone appears on
the interior rear view mirror.
- Adjust the magnetic deflection zone by repeatedly
pressing on the @button. The set mode automatically
deactivates after a few seconds. •

Calibrating the compass
The compass has to be recalibrated if the display is wrong
or inaccurate.
- Hold the@ button down until the letter C is displayed on
the interior rear view mirror.
- Drive in a circle at a speed of about 5 mph (10 km/h) until
a direction is shown on the interior rear view mirror.
& WARNING
The digital compass is to be used as a directional aid only. Even
though you may want to look at it while you are driving, you must
still pay attention to traffic, road and weather conditions as well
as other possible hazards. •

Seats and storage Folding down the front seatbacks
- Lift the latch=> page 79, fig. 83.
- Tilt the seatbac k forward.
Moving the front seats forward
-Press and hold the switch@ until the seat has reached the
desired position.
Moving front seats back
- Press and hold the switch @ until the seat has reached the
des ired position. The seat stops automatically when it has
reached its starting position again .
To make it easier to enter and leave the rear seat, the seatbacks of the
front seats can be folded forward and the head restraints are auto ­
matically lowered. At the same time, the front seats can be moved
forward and back.
When the front seats a re moved forward, their orig inal position is
stored . When it is moved back, the seat automatically stops in this
posit ion. To move the seat even further back, you have to release the
switch @ and reactivate it.
T he head rest raints from the front seats, depending on the seat
height that has been set, are automatically retracted when the seat­
backs are folded down. They return to their original position again
when the seatbacks for the front seats are ra ised .
(I) Tips
With the driver's or passenger's door closed, the corresponding
switch to move the seat is inoperative.•

Memory for driver's seat
The seat adjustment settings for two drivers can be
stored using the memory buttons in the driver's door .

In addition to the setting for the driver's seat, the exterior rear view
mirror setting ca n be stored and reca lled through seat memory if the
vehicle is properly equipped.
Storing and recalling settings
With the help of the memory buttons 1 and 2 ~ fig. 84 the settings
for two different drivers can be stored and recalled~
page 81.
The current settings are also automatically stored on the remote
control key being used when the vehicle is locked. When the vehicle is
unlocked, the settings stored on the remote contro l key being used
are automatically recalled.
Turning seat memory on and off
If the [ ON/OFF] switch is depressed , the seat memory is inoperative.
The word
OFF in the [ ON/OFF] sw itch illuminates .
All the stored settings are retained. We recommend using the
I ON/OFF] switch and deact ivating the seat memory if the vehicle is .,
