not an indicator for a low engine oil lev­
el. Do not rely on it. Instead, che ck the
oil level in your engine at regular inter ­
vals, preferably each time you refuel,
and always before going on a long trip.
- The yellow oil level warning indication
II requires oil refill or workshop serv­
ice without delay . Do not wait until the
red oil pressure warning. starts to
flash before you respond to the low oil level warning
II. By then, your engine
may already have suffered serious dam­
age .

paired immediately.
If the . symbol in the display blinks , there

The emergency key is not intended for con­
stant use.
It should only be used in an emer­
gency . Keep it in a safe place and do not carry
it on your key ring .
Key replacement
If you lose a key, contact your authorized Audi
dealer immediately to have the
lost key disa­
bled. Be sure to bring all your keys with you.
Data in the master key
During driving, service and maintenance-rele­
vant data is continuously stored on your mas ­
ter key. Your Audi service adviser can read out
this data and tell you about the work your ve­ hicle needs. This applies a lso to vehicles with
conven ience key*.
Per sonal comfort settings
If two people use one vehicle, it is recom­
mended that each person always uses "their
own" master key . When the ign ition is turned
off or when the vehicle is locked, personal
conven ience settings for the follow ing sys-

terns are stored and assigned to the remote
master key.
- Climate contro l
- Centra l locking system
- Seat memory*
- Parking system*
-Adaptive cruise control*
- Audi side assist*

The stored settings are automatically recalled
when you unlock the vehicle, when you open
the doors or when you turn on the ignit ion.
A WARNING
-
- Do not leave your vehicle unattended
with the key in the ignition lock. Entry by
unauthorized persons could endanger
you or result in theft or damage the vehi­
cle . Always lock all doors and take the
key .
- Do not leave ch ildren unattended in the
veh icle, especially with access to vehicle
keys . Unguarded access to the keys pro­
vides children the opportun ity to start
the engine and/or activate vehicle sys­
tems such as the power windows etc. Un­
supervised operation of any vehicle sys­
tem by children can result in serious In­
jury.
- Do not remove the key from the ignition
lock until the vehicle has come to a com­
plete stop. Otherwise the steering col­
umn lock could suddenly engage -caus­
ing the risk of an accident.
@ Tips
- Th e operation of th e remote control key
can be temporarily disrupted by interfer­
ence from transmitters in the vicinity of
the vehicle working in the same frequen­
cy range (e .g. a cell phone, radio equ ip­
ment).
- If you open the driver's door with the key
left in the ignit ion lock, a chime w ill
sound. Th is is your reminder to remove
the key and lock the door.

Power windows
Controls
The driver can operate the window regulator
for the driver's door with the left switch and the window regulator for the passenger's
door with the right switch.

dow switches have a
two-position function :
Opening the windows
• Push the sw itch to the fir st stop and hold it
t h ere unt il t he wi ndow has lowered to the
desired position.
• Push the switch briefly to the
second stop :
the window wi ll automatically open all the
way.
Closing the windows
• Pull t he switch up to the first stop and ho ld
it there until the window has rise n to the de­
sired posit ion .
• Pu ll the switch q uick ly to the
second posi ­
tion :
the window will automat ically close all
t h e way.
A WARNING
- Do not leave children unattended in the
vehicle, espe cially with acc ess to vehicle
k eys. U nsuperv ised use of the keys can
result in st arting of t he engine and u se
of ve hicle sys tems such as power win­
dows, etc. which co uld resu lt in serio us
injury. -
Remember -you can still open or close
the powe r windows for about ten mi­
nutes after the ign ition is switched off.
O nl y when either of the doors are opened
are the powe r windows sw itched off.
- Be careful when clos ing the windows.
Check to see t hat no o ne is in the way , or
ser io us inj ury co uld result!
- Always remove the ign it ion key wheneve r
you leave your ve hicle .
- If you lock your vehicle from the outside,
no one, espec ial ly childre n, should re­
main in the veh icle.
- Do not st ick anything on t he windows or
the w indshield that may interfere w ith
the dr iver's field of vision.
(D Tips
- When you open the do ors, the windows
automatically lowe r abo ut 10 mm.
- After the ignition has been switched off ,
the windows can st ill be opened or
closed for about 10 mi nutes. The win­
dow reg ulators are no t sw itche d until
the drive r's or passenge r's door is
o pene d.
Convenience opening/closing
The windows and the panoramic tilting sun­
ro of can be ope ned and closed with the me­
cha nical key or the emergency key.

., To tilt the panoramic tilting sunroof, press

After the ignit ion is swi tched off, you can st ill
operate the Panorama for about 10 minutes .
As soon as the driver's or passenger's door is
opened, the sw itch is inoperative .
Sun blind
The sun blind can be opened and closed man­
ually in any position.
A WARNING
Pay careful attention when clos ing the
panoramic tilting sunroof - otherwise seri­
ous inju ry could result! For this reason, al­
ways remove the ignition key when leaving the vehicle.
- Never leave ch ildren o r persons requ iring
assi stan ce a lone in the vehicle, especi ally
when they c ould access the veh icle keys.
Unsupervised use of the keys can res ult
in t he engine being started or use of ve­
hicle systems such as the power win -dows, etc. w
hich could res ult in serious
in jury. The doors could be locked with
the remote key, delaying he lp in an
emergency.
- The panoramic tilting sunroof w ill con­
tinue to operate until the ign ition key
has bee n removed and one of the front
doors has been opened.
(D Note
A lways close your panoramic t ilting sun­
roof when leav ing your vehicle. Sudden
r ain can cause damage to the inte rior
equipment of yo ur vehicle, particular ly the
electronic equipment .

Emergency closing of the panoramic
tilting sunroof
If the s unroof detects an object in its path
when it is closing, it wi ll open aga in automati­
ca lly. In this case, you can close the roof with
the power emergency closing function .
., Within five seconds after the sunroo f opens

closes.

AUTO -Automatic headlight control*
With the switch in the AUTO position, the low
beams are swi tched on automatically depend­
ing on the ambient light, for example in a tun­
ne l, at dusk and when it is raining or snowing.
When the low beams are switched on, the
:oo:
symbol comes on. The low beams remain
switched on regardless of the ambient light
when you turn on the fog lights .
When you turn
off the ignition, the low beams
are automatically switched
off.
On vehicles w ith a rain sensor* the headlights
switch on automatica lly after a few wind-

shield wiper passes. However, the instrument
lighting will not be switched on.
Wi th a utomatic head light cont ro l, you also
have the high-beam function available. How­
ever, if you have not switched high beams
back to low beams while driving with auto­
matic headlight control, only the low beams
come on the next time yo u turn on automatic
headlight control. In order to return to high
beams aga in, you first have to pull the high
beam lever back to the normal position and
then push the lever forward .
Light sensor* malfunction
In the event of a light sensor* ma lfunction,
the driver is not ified in the instrument cluster
display:

For safety reasons, the low beams are turned
on permanently with the switch in
AUTO.
However, you can continue to turn the lights
on and
off using the light switch . Have the
light sensor checked as soon as possible at an
authorized Aud i dealer or other qualified
workshop.
A WARNING
Automatic h eadlights are only intended to
assist the d river. They do not relieve the
driver of his responsib ility to che ck the
headlights and to turn them on manually
according to the current light and visibility
conditions. For example, fog cannot be de­
tected by the light sensors. So a lways
switch on the headlights gD under these
weather conditions and when driving in
the dark.
(D Tips
- The light sensor* for headlight control is
located in the rear view mirror mount.
You should therefore not apply any stick­
ers to the windshield in th is area in order
to prevent malfunct ions or fai lures .
- The sensitivity level for the light sensor*
set at t he factory can be changed in the ..,_

Daytime running lights
When you turn on the ignition the daytime
ru nning lights will com e on automatically.
USA mode ls
The daytime runni ng lights are activated when
the light switch

position or the AUTO pos ition (only in daylight
conditions). The daytime running lights func ­
tion can be turned on and off in the rad io or

Xenon headlights
App lies to vehicles : wit h xe non head lig hts
After starting the eng ine, the xenon head­
li ghts are automatically adjusted to the load
and angle of the veh icle (for example, dur ing
acce lerat io n an d bra ki ng) . Th is prevents on­
com ing t raff ic fro m experiencing un necess ary
he ad light glare from y our xe non headli ghts.
If the system is not ope rat ing properly, a
warning symbol in the Auto-Ch eck Control is
displayed

Move the windshield wiper lever to the corre­
spond ing pos ition:
@ -Windshie ld w iper off
(D -Interva l mode. To extend/shorten the
wipe r intervals , move the switch @ to the
left/right. In veh icles with a rain sensor*, the
windshie ld wipers are act ivated automat ically
start ing at a speed of 2 mp h (4 km/h) . The
h igher the sensitivity of the rain sensor* is set
(switch @ to the right), the earlier the wind­
shie ld wipers react to mois ture on the wi nd­
shield.

® -Clean the wi ndshield . T o e liminate water
d ro pl ets , the w indshield wiper performs one
afterwipe operation after several seconds
while driving. You can switch this function off
by mov ing the lever to position ® within 10
seconds of the afterw ipe operation . The after­
wipe function is reactivated the next time the
ignit io n is switched on .
C lea ning the headlights *. The headlight wash­
er system* only functions when the light is
switched on . The headlights are automatically
cleaned the first t ime and every fifth time the
lever is moved to position ®· T hey are also
cleaned every time you hold the lever in posi­
tion ® for longer than 2 seconds. Clear vi

- The rain sensor is only intended to assist
the dr iver. The driver is st ill responsible
for manually switch ing the wipers on ac­
cording to the visibility cond it ions .
- The windsh ield may not be treated with
wate r-repell ing windsh ield coating
age nts. Unfavo rable cond it io ns, such as
we tness, dar kne ss, low sun, can result in
increased glare. Wiper blade chatter is
also possib le .
- Prope rly f unct ion ing windsh ield wiper
blades are req uired for a clea r view and
safe driving

-In the case of fros t, check whethe r the
w indshield wiper blades are frozen to
t he windsh ield. Sw itch ing on the wind ­
shield wipe rs can damage the wiper
blades!
- Prior to using a car wash, the windshield
wiper system must be switched off ( lever
in posit ion 0). Th is helps to prevent unin­
tentional switch ing on and damage to
the windsh ield wiper system.
(D Tips
- The windshield w ipers are switched off
when the ign it ion is turned off. Act ivate
the windsh ield wipers after the ignition
is switched bac k on by moving the wind­
shield w iper lever to any position .
- Worn or d irty windshield wipe r blades
result in streaking . This ca n affect the
rain sensor* funct ion . Check yo ur wind­
shield wiper blades regularly.
- T he ra in sensor* is part of the interval
w ip ing system. Turning off the ignition
w ill also deactivate the ra in se nsor* . To
reactiva te the sensor, swit ch off the in­
terval wiping function, then switch it
back on aga in .
- Th e washer f luid no zz les o f the w ind­
shield washer system are heated at low
temperatures when the ignition is on .

rors dim automatically when light shines on
them, for example from head lights on ave ­
hicle to the rear .
A WARNING
Electrolyte fluid can leak from automatic
dimming mirrors if the glass is broken.
Electrolyte fluid can irritate skin, eyes and
respi ratory system .
- Repeated or prolonged exposure to elec­
trolyte can cause irritation to the resp ira­
tory system, espec ially among people
with asthma or other respiratory cond i­
t ions. Get fres h air immedia tely by leav­
ing t he vehicle or, if that is not possible,
o pen windows and doors all the way.
- If elec trolyte gets in to the eyes, flush
them thoro ughly with large amounts of
clean water for at least 15 min utes;
medica l attention is recommended .
-If electrolyte contacts skin, flush affect­
ed area with clean water for at least 15 minutes and then wash affected area
with soap and water; medical attention is recommended . Thoroughly wash af­
fected clothing and shoes before reuse.
- If swallowed and person is conscious,
rinse mouth with water for at least 15
minutes. Do not induc e vomiting unless
instructed to do so by medi cal professio­
na l. Get medical attention immediately .

Liquid electrolyte leaking from b roken m ir­
r o r glass w ill damage any plastic surfaces
i t comes in contac t with. Clean up spilled
electrolyte imme diately wi th clean water
and a sponge .
(D Tips
-Switching off the dimming function of
the inside rear view mir ror also deacti­
va tes the automatic dimming func tion of
the exterior mirrors .
- The automatic dimming m irrors do not
dim when the interior lighting is turned
on or the reverse gear is selected .
- Au toma tic dimm ing for t he mirror on ly
operates properly if the sun shade * for
the rear window is not in use or the light
striking the inside mirror is not hindered
by other objects .

General recommen­
dations
Why is your seat adjustment so important?
The safety belts and the airbag system can
only provide maximum protection if the front
seats are correctly adjusted.
There are various ways of adjusting the front
seats to provide safe and comfortable support
for the driver and the front passenger. Adjust
your seat properly so that :
- you can easily and quick ly reach all the
switches and controls in the instrument
panel
- your body is properly supported thus reduc­ ing physical stress and fatigue
- the safety belts and airbag system can offe r
maximum protection

In the following sections, you will see exactly
how you can best adjust your seats .
There are special regulations and instructions
for installing a child safety seat on the front passenger's seat. Always follow the informa­
tion regard ing child safety provided in
¢ page 186, Child Safety.
A WARNING
Incorrect seating position of the driver and
all other passengers can result in serious
personal injury.
- Always keep your feet on the f loor when
the vehicle is in motion -never p ut your
feet on top of the instrument panel, out
of the w indow or on top of the seat cush­
ion. Th is applies especially to the passen­
gers . If your seating position is incorrect,
you increase the r isk of injury in the case
of sudden braking or an acc ident. If the
airbag inflates and the seating position
is incorrect, this could result in persona l
injury or even death.
- It is important for bo th the driver and
front passenger to keep a distance of a t

least 10 inches (25 cm) between them­
selves and the steering wheel and/or in­
strument panel. If you're s itting any
closer than th is, the airbag system can­
not protect you properly. In addition, the
front seats and head restraints must be
adjusted to your body height so that t hey
can give you maximum protect ion.
- Always try to keep as much distance as
possible between yourself and the s teer­
ing wheel o r instrument pane l.
- Do not adjust the driver's or front pas­
senger's seat whi le the vehicle is moving.
Your sea t may move unexpected ly, caus­
ing sudden loss of vehicle cont rol and
personal injury . If you adjust yo ur seat
while the veh icle is moving, yo u are out
of posit ion.
Driver's seat
The correct seat position is important for safe
and relaxed driving.
We recommend that you adjus t the dr iver's
seat in the fo llowing manner:
.,. Adjust t he seat in fore and aft direction so
that you can easily push the peda ls to the
floor wh ile keeping your knees s lightly bent

.,. Adjust the seatback so that when you sit
w ith your back against the seatback, you can
still grasp the top of the steering wheel.
.,. Adjust the head restraint so the upper edge
is as even as possible with the top of your head . If that is not poss ible , try to adjust
the head res traint so that it is as close to
this pos ition as possib le

A WARNING
Never place any objects in the dr iver's foot­
well. An object could get into the pedal
area and interfere with pedal funct ion . In
case of sudden braking or an acc ident, you
wo uld not be able to brake or accelerate.

A WARNING
-Adjust the driver's seat only when the ve­
hicle is stationary . You risk an accident
otherwise .
- Exercise caution when adjusting the
seats. Adjusting the seat carelessly or
without checking can pinch hands and
fingers.
- While the vehicle is moving, the seat
backs of the front seats must not be in­
clined too far to the rear because the ef­
fectiveness of the safety belts and the
airbag system is severely compromised -
there is a risk of injury.
Easy entry function
Applies to vehicles: with man ually adjustable seats
The easy entry function makes it easier for
the rear passengers to enter and leave the ve­
hicle.
