when the vehicl e is stationar y or aft er switch­
ing the igniti on on ,
check if you can release the
parking brake. If you cannot re lease the park ­
ing brake, see an authorized Audi dealer or au­
thorized Aud i Serv ice Facility. If you can re lease
the parking brake and the message still ap­
pears, see an authorized Aud i dealer or author­
ized Audi Service Facility immediately to have
the malfunction cor rected.
-If the indicator light and message appear wh ile
dri ving ,
the hill start assist or emergency brak­
ing function may be malfunctioning. It may not
be poss ible to set the parking brake or release
it once it has been set . Do not park your veh icle
on hills. See an author ized Audi dealer or au ­

brake booster is available, but its effectiveness is

checking the brake fluid level.
- If the brake system indicator light does not tur n off or it turns on wh ile driving, the
b rake fl uid leve l in the reservo ir is too low,
a nd this increases the risk of an accident.
S top the vehicle and do not contin ue d riv­
ing . See an authorized Aud i dealer o r au­
thorized A udi Service Facility for assistance.
-If the b rake system indi cator light turns on
together with the ABS and ESC indicato r
lights, the ABS/ESC regu lating function may
be malfunct ion ing. Funct ions that stabilize
the vehicle are no longer available. This
could cause the vehicle to swerve, which in­
creases the risk that the vehicle will slide. Do not cont inue drivi ng . See an autho rized

PARK /(®)/~ Electrom echanical parking

If the -(U SA mode ls) I. (Canada models)
indicator light turns on, t he pa rking brake was
set.
If the -( U SA mode ls) . (Canada models) in ­
dicator light blinks, the b raking force is not build ­
ing up enough o r not building up at a ll. Secu re
the vehicle also by selecting the 1st gear (man ual
transm ission) or select ing the P selector lever po­
s ition (automatic transm ission) . Make sure the
indicator light is off before you start driving .

There is a ma lfunction in the parking brake. Drive
to an autho rized Audi dealer or a uthorized Audi
Service Facility immed iate ly to have the malfunc­

hicle in place . The brakes have overheated. The

A WARNING
- Never open the hood if you can see or hear
steam or coolant escaping from the engine
compartment. This increases the risk of burns. Wait until you no longer see or hear
steam or coolant escaping .
- The engine compartment in any vehicle can
be a dange rous area . Stop the engine and
allow it to cool befo re working in the engine
compa rtment. Always follow the informa­
tion fo und in

and front passenger's safety belts are fastened.

Replacing a key
If a key is lost, see an authorized Audi dealer or
authorized Audi Service Facility. Have
this key de­
activated .
It is important to bring all keys with
you .
If a key is lost, you should report it to your
insu rance company.
Number of keys
You can check the number of keys assigned to
your vehicle in the Infotainment system . To do
this, select the
IM ENU I button > Vehicle > left
control button
> Service & checks> Vehicle in·
formation .
This way, you can make sure that you
have all the keys when purchasing a used vehicle.
Electronic immobilizer
The immob ilizer prevents unauthorized use of
the vehicle .
Under certain circumstances, the vehicle may not
be able to start if there is a key from a different
veh icle manufacturer on the key chain.

Data in the master key
When dr iving, service and maintenance-re levant
data is continuously stored in your remote con­
trol key. Your A udi service advisor can read out
this data and tell you about the work your vehicle needs . This applies also to vehicles with a con­
venience key*.
Personal convenience settings
If two people use one vehicle, it is recommended
that each person always uses "their own" master
key . When the ign ition is turned off or when the
vehicle is locked, personal convenience settings
for the following systems are stored and as­
s igned to the remote master key.
- Climate control system
-Steering wheel heating*
-Central lockin g system
-Interior lighting*
-Exter ior lighting
- Rain sensor
- Memory function*
- Park ing a id *
-Adaptive cr uise control *
-Active lane assist*
-Side assist*

The stored settings are automatically recalled
when you unlock the vehicle, open the doors or
turn on the ignition .
~ WARNING
Always take the vehicle key with you when
leaving the vehicle, even for a short period of
time. This applies particularly when children
rema in in the vehicle . Otherwise the children
could start the engine or operate electrical
equipment such as power windows .

• Move the selector lever to the P position (auto-
matic transmission) .
• Set the parking brake.
• If possible, open all of the w indows .
• Open the luggage compartment lid and remove
the emergency release

the left side trim panel.
• Lift the cargo floor cover using the plastic han­
dle and hook the handle above the power top
storage compartment .
• Remove the hex socket round blade and the
flat-head screwdriver blade from the vehicle
tool

• Release the cargo f loor cover again.
• Fold the backrests forward so that you can pull
the release lever in the side trim panel@

• Close the luggage compartment lid.
• Switch the ignition off.
• Pull the button @for approximately 10 to
15 seconds to reduce the pressure in the power
top hydraulics

Only close the power top manually in an eme r­
gency . Have a second person assist . Drive to an
authorized Audi dealer or authorized Audi Service Facility immediately to have the malfunction cor­
rected.

A WARNING
- The risk of pinch ing your hands or other
people increases during all of the power top
emergency operation steps .
-Make sure all windows are lowered during
emergency operation.
-Do not reach into the power top supports
or other moving components.
- Never drive with the power top unlocked.
The wind from driving could cause the pow­
er top to open. This can result in injuries and
damage to the vehicle.

Ad aptive ligh t provides be tter visibili ty when i t is
dark by adapting the ligh ts to the road condi tions
based on speed, such as on e xpressways, rura l
roads, at intersections, and in c urves. The adap­
t ive light only functions when the light switch is
i n the AUTO position .
A WARNING
--Automatic headlights* are on ly intended to
assist the driver. They do no t relieve the
driver of responsibil ity to check the head­
lights and to turn t hem on manu ally b ased
on t he cur ren t ligh t and v is ibility conditi on s.
F o r e xamp le, fog canno t be de tec ted by t he
light sensors. So always swit ch o n the low
beams under these weather co nditions and
when dr iv ing in the dark
io .
- The rear fog lights s hou ld only be turned on
in acco rdance w ith traffic regulation s, to
prevent glare for traffic behind your vehicle.
- Always observe le g al regulations when
us­
ing the lighting systems desc ribed .

- The lig ht sen sor for the automat ic he ad ­
ligh ts* is in the rearview mir ror mount. Do
not p lace any st ickers in this area on the
windshield.
- A warning tone will sound if yo u ope n the
door whe n the e xte rior lights a re switched
on .
- Only t he front headlights turn on when t he
daytime running lights are sw itche d on* . In
vehicles in certain markets, the tail lights
w ill also turn on.
- In cool or damp weather, the inside of the
head lights, turn signa ls and tail lights can
fog over due to the temperature diffe rence
b etween the insi de and outside . They wi ll
clear shortly afte r swi tching them on . This
does n ot aff ect the service life of the light­
mg.
