Front cupholder
• To open the cupholder, tap the cover

the arm. The arm swings back by itself and

& WARNING
Spilled hot liquid can cause an accident
and personal injury.
- Never carry any beverage containers with
hot liquids, such as hot coffee or hot tea,
in the vehicle while it is moving . In case
of an accident, sudden braking or other
vehicle movement, hot liquid could spill,
causing sca lding burns. Spilled hot liquid
can a lso cause an accident and personal
injury.
- Use only soft cups in the cupholder . Hard
cups and g lasses can cause injury in an
accident.
- Never use the cupholder or adapter as an
ashtray -risk of fire.
(D Note
On ly drink containers with lids should be
carried in the cupho lder. Liquid could spill
out and damage your vehicle's electronic
equipment or stain the upholstery, etc.

Cooled glove compartment

when the AIC system is switched on .

The glove compartment cooling mode only
functions when the vehicle A/C system is
switched on . If the heating is switched on,
switching the glove compa rtment cooling
mode off is recommended.
& WARNING ~ -
Always leave the lid on the glove compart­
ment cover closed while driving to reduce
the r isk of injury.
Additional storage
There are a variety of storage compartments
and fasteners in various places in the vehicle .
- Storage compartments in the doors
- Compartment in the glove compartment
(coo led*) . Th e g love compartment can be
locked using the mechanica l key ¢
page 33.

- Storage compartments under the center

~ WARNING

- Always remove objects from the instru­
ment panel. Any items not stored could
slide around inside the vehicle while driv­
ing or when accelerating or when apply­
ing the brakes or when driving around a
corner.
- When you are driving make sure that
anything you may have placed in the cen­
ter console or other storage locations
cannot fall out into the footwells. In case
of sudden braking you would not be able
to brake or accelerate.
-Always keep the lid of the compartment
for (sun)glasses* closed while driving to
reduce the risk of injury during a sudden
braking maneuver or in the event of an
accident.
- Any articles of clothing that you have
hung up must not interfere with the driv­
er's view. The coat hooks are designed
only for lightweight clothing. Never hang
any clothing with hard, pointed or heavy
objects in the pockets on the coat hooks.
During sudden braking or in an accident -
especially
If the airbag is deployed -
these objects could injure any passen­
gers inside the vehicle.
- To reduce the risk of personal injury in an
accident or sudden stop, always keep the
glove compartment closed while driving.
- Read and follow all WARNINGS
~ page 171, Important safety instruc­
tions on the side airbag system.
-Hang clothes in such a way that they do
not impair the driver's vision.
- The coat hooks must only be used for
lightweight clothing. Do not leave any
heavy or sharp edged objects in the pock- ets which may interfere with the side cur­
tain airbag deployment and can cause
personal
injury in a crash.
- Do not use coat hangers for hanging
clothing on the coat hooks as this can in­
terfere with proper deployment of the side curtain airbags in an accident.
- Do not hang heavy objects on the coat
hooks, as they could cause personal in­
jury in a sudden stop.
(D Note
Objects located on the rear shelf that rub
against the rear window could damage the heating wires for the rear window defog-
ger .
Roof rack
Description and mounting locations
Additional cargo can be carried with a roof
luggage rack.

... Always read and follow the instructions pro­
vided by the roof rack manufacturer when installing the roof rack system.
If luggage or cargo is to be carried on the
roof, you must observe the following:
- Only use roof racks approved for your vehi­
cle. These approved roof racks are the basis
for a complete roof rack system. Additional
attachments or carrier systems are needed
to transport luggage and sports equipment.
We recommend using roof racks from the
Audi original accessories program . .,..

-Items on the roof rack must always be
sec urely mo unted.
- The use of a roof rack can negative ly af­
fect the way a vehicle handles. Cargo
that is large, heavy, bulky, long or flat
will have a greater negative inf lue nce on
the vehicle's aerodynamics, center of gravity and overall handling . Always
dr ive slowly, avo id sudden braking and
maneuvers when tra nsporting cargo on
the roof of you r vehicle.
- Never exceed the maximum perm iss ible
load carryi ng capacity of the roof of yo ur
vehicle, the perm issib le axle weights and
the permiss ible total weight of your veh i­
cle

@ For the sake of the environment
As a res ult of the increased w ind resist­
ance crea ted by a roof rack, your ve hicle is
using fue l unnecessarily . So remove the
roof rack after using it .

vehicle occupants during sudden braking
maneuvers or in a crash.

aged by being caught in door or seat

- Torn or frayed safety belts can tear and
damaged be lt hardware can break in a
crash. Inspect the belts periodical ly.

Belts showing damage to webbing, bind­
ings, buckles, or retractors must be re­
placed.
(D Note
- If you move the front seat back when the
rear seat backrest is fo lded forward, you
could damage the head restraints on the
rear seat.
- Slide the belt guide on the outside safety
belt all the way up before folding the
backrest back forward. Make sure the
seat belt is not p inched or damaged
when the rear seat backrest if folded
back. Other objects shou ld be removed
from the rear seat bench to protect the
seatbac k from d amage.
Tie -downs and cargo net
The cargo net" prevents small objects from
sliding.

Stowing luggage.
In a collision, the laws of physics mean that
even smaller items that are loose in the vehi­
cle wi ll turn into heavy missi les that can cause
serious injury. Items in the vehicle pick up ki­
netic energy which varies with the veh icle and
the weight of the item . Vehicle speed is the
most sign ificant factor .
For example, in a frontal collision at a speed
of 30 mph (48 km/h), the forces acti ng on a
10-lb (5 kg) object are about
20 times the
normal we ight of the item . This means that
the weight of the item would sudden ly be the
equivalent of abo ut 200 lbs (90 kg). One can
easily imagine the injuries that an item of that
weight flying freely through the passenge r
compartment ca n cause in a collision at a
speed considered relatively low.
A WARNING
-
Weak, damaged or improper straps used
to secure items to tie-downs can fail dur­
ing hard braking or in a collision and cause
serious personal injury.
- Always use suitable retaining straps and
properly secure items to the tie-downs in
the l uggage compartment to help pre­
vent items from shift ing or fly ing for­
ward.
- Never attach a chi ld seat tether strap to
a tie-down.
- For strength-related reasons, the mou nt­
ing hooks can only be used to secure ob­
jects weigh ing up to 10 lb. (5 kg). Heavi­
er objects will not be adequ ately sec ured
- there is a risk of injury.

Bag hooks
Light objects can be secured on the hooks.

You can also use the hooks to hang light purs­
es,bags, etc.
A WARNING
The hooks can hold a maximum weight of
3 kg. Heavier objects are not adequately
secured. There is risk of personal injury .
Luggage compartment covering
(reversible mat )
Applies to vehicles: with luggage compartment carpeting
The reversible luggage compartment covering
should be used when transporting dirty or
wet objects.

l The windshield and side windows are defrost­
ed or cleared of condensation as quickly as
possib le. The maximum amount of air flows
mainly from the vents be low the windshield.
Recirculation mode switches off. The tempera­
ture should be set to 72 °F (22 °C) or higher.
The
IAU TOI button switches the defroster off.
l(lii) REAR I Switching rear window heater
on/off
The rear window heater on ly operates when
the engine is running.
It switches off auto­
matica lly after a few minutes, depending on
the outside temperature.
To prevent the rear window heater from
switching off automatically, press and hold
the
lil button for more than 2 seconds. This
remains stored unti l the ignition is switched
off.
[ii Adjusting seat heating
Pressing the button switches the seat heating
on at the highest setting ( leve l 3). The LEDs
indicate the temperature level. To reduce the
temperature, press the button again. To
switch the seat heating off, press the button
repeatedly unt il the LED turns off .
After 10 minutes, the seat heating automati­
cally switches from leve l 3 to level 2.
The seat heating for both outer rear seats* is
adjusted using the buttons in the center con­
sole.

Air vents
You can open or close the center and outer
vents in the cockpit and the vents in the rear
center console using the ridged thumbwheels.
The levers adjust the direction of the airflow
from the vents.
The air temperature in the rear can be adjust­
ed so that it is warmer or co lder by turning
the knob to the red or blue area.
A WARNING
- Do not use the recirc ulation for extended
periods of time. The windows could fog
up since no fresh a ir can enter the vehi­
cle. If the windows fog up, press the air
recirc ulat ion button aga in immed iately
to switch off the air recirculation func­
tion or select defrost.
- I ndividuals w ith reduced sensitivity to
pa in or temperature could develop burns
when using the seat heating function. To
red uce the risk of injury, these individu­
als sho uld not use seat heating.

in the seats, do not kneel on the seats or
place heavy loads on a small area of the
seat.

when one of the dia ls in the cockp it is press­
ed .
Auto recirculation*
The sensit ivity level of the au tomatic rec ircu­
lation mode can be set at vario us leve ls from
off to sensit ive. The recirculation mode is con ­
trolled a utomat ica lly. You must p ress the ~
button if fog forms on the windows.
Footwell temperature
You can adju st the footwell temperat ure so
that it is cooler or wa rme r.
Supplementary heater*
The supplementary heater warms the interio r
of veh icles with diesel engines * mo re quick ly .
